What BIOS version are you running? Are you on water or Air?
That's a high QPI!
Printable View
Maybe that's why I have such trouble...
Perhaps you can help me out.
I've had a hell of a time trying to run my uncore @ 4000Mhz. I can run 2000Mhz no problem with my QPI @ 1.362v and CPU is the same @ 4.2Ghz
What kind of temps do you get on your Northbridge? Your CPU? How long have you been running your QPI at that voltage? is it safe?
I'll do this myself if it's safe and doesn't damage anything.
According this http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthrea...t=F3-16000CL9T i run this setup for about 4 months.
My cpu is in range 40c to 85c(linx) and now for northbridge/southbridge try to reinstall thermal paste and correct my first vga position because i believe that touch to m/b block and increase the temps.
I was unable to run XMP for Corsair Dominator GT CMT6GX3M3A2000C8. It just dont boot. Any help?
Edit: Bios version 1005

test with these settings......
Nice Xeon you have there, killer IMC.
Apparently you have made up your mind about a company you know nothing about. I imagine you probably just got into water cooling and went to some website that said "Koolance sucks, BP for the win". Seriously, if you have never used their products, how can you comment on them? I have used more than 10 CPU blocks, probably 8 or more MB blocks, a crap load of GPU blocks, all of these from various companies and you know what I figured out? They're all pretty much the same. Different colors, minor tweaks, cool tricks, but all made from copper, some nickel plated, some not and all perform withing a few degrees of each other. Seriously, it really comes down to what looks good for your build and what makes your life easier running your tubing and how much you want to spend. XSPC makes a great GPU block that is about $30-$40 cheaper than the rest and it performs just as good, but it doesn't look as sweet as an EK block or a Koolance block or even the BP blocks. I use them all and don't limit it myself to any one brand, no reason too.
i was just looking at the EK HF (high flow) cpu block, a bit expensive but i think it will be my next cpu block..
Yeah, I have the older EK Supreme Classified and I love how it looks, but flow on it is terrible. When I do change my blocks out this next time I will probably do the EK HF block to match the rest of my system. I don't expect any performance difference, but I like trying new stuff.
There's also pretty strong evidence that the Marvell controller doesn't pass through TRIM.

You spelled "percent" wrong...
sorry I can't help myself...
Then you googled my name and realized I've been doing this since before xtremesystems existed. Way to do your research.
Your numbers mean nothing to me, and neither do your arguments. Just another koolance fanboy.
I use what works, what's convenient, and what's good. I have no other criteria. If koolance came out with a compelling product, I'd promote it just like any other good piece of hardware.
Oh yeah, and then you googled 'hydraulic quick disconenct' and realized that everyone makes them.
Is it necessary to plug in the 2 molex connectors on the board if running two videocards (overclocked on air), or is that only necessary for running 3-4 heavily overclocked cards?
I don't need to use Google to see when someone is being a jerk. I already said I don't stick to any one brand, so I am not sure how that makes me a "fanboy", but obviously you have a strong opinion about Koolance even though you have already stated you don't use them. As far as my numbers, I don't see you posting anything to dispute them, so how about you just run along and find some other place to troll.
Is this thread about Rampage III?
Please keep on topic...
Sorry, just hate trolls.
I'm still on stock bios :D, will update soon. Using a V6 GT with two Gentle Typhoons 1850.

The price drop on the 950's looks a bit tempting !!
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...x80601950.html
Hmmmmmm
You're the one who brought up my experience and made a personal attack. And your numbers are just how many blocks you've used. There's no reason to refute anything about that because well. Nobody cares and it doesn't have anything to do with the thread.
The koolance block for the R3E is a piece of crap that's not useful to anyone, unless you're going to spend 10x more for an entirely koolance branded system, so it all fits together, for 10x worse performance.
Look in a mirror UT. You're the troll. I'm not the only one who feels this way about you, or koolance. You provided absolutely no quantitative proof for any of your arguments. I was on topic about the R3E and it's cooling options. You did nothing but flame.
Could we drop the waterblock debate and continue about what this thread is really about plz...
going to compare 762/rIIIe on ln2 this weekend. will post results.
Anyone notice that with 1005 bios even if the only change you make is bclk it hard restarts :( sucks with ln2 and cbb
I have 50 gig Vertex 2 on a SATA2 Port Boot OS. and a 1TB eSATA for storage.
I want to get more SDD space as it rocks.
What is up with the SATA3/6GB Ports?
Would it be best to: get another 50 Gig Vertex 2 and set up RAID 0 on the SATA2 port.
Get 1 60 Gig SATA3 drive and put it on the 6Port.
Get 2 60 Gig SATA3 Drives and RAID 0 them on the SATA3 ports.
Get 1 120 Gig SATA3 Drive and up it on the SATA3 port.
What about just the Revo Drive?
Thanks
Well, I recently changed from 2 C300s raid 0 on the sata 3 over to the sata 2 and now run just 1 C300 64gb non raid on the sata 3 ( boot drive)
So far nothing to complain about throughput non raid on the marvell is very good and as we all no Ich10R is just fine for 2 ssds in raid 0 (remeber no trim when in raid but GC seems to be doing the job)
as for revo drive I dont know too much about these only that I would expect them to be quicker, had a browse through the forums and there are a few ppl very miffed as they have spent a lot of cash and are not getting the performance / ease of installation, they want !!
thats just my opinion others may give different advice
Rick
So the 1 C300 on the SATA3 port has better Read rates than the 2 RAID 0 on the SATA2 port yes? That was what I was thinking.
Tx
I think its a great controller, though the one i got QC wasn't that nice, on the knobs, its not glued on well, the rheostat works wonders though! RPM and voltage reading seems alright. I'm running 2 panaflo fans per channel.
Screen doesn't display temperatures I think, not sure though, haven't plugged them in.
Personally, I would've went with the Kaze Master pro 6 channel.
So I haven't seen too many Xeons being used on this board, has anyone used the W3530 (Xeon version of the 930) on this board?
Hmm what do you think is better to tweak Uncore or Channel RTLs? Cause im sitting perfectly fine here with Uncore @ about 3.4 Ghz using Mem x 2 + 1 but wanted to tweak my Rams a bit
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Yes it does. :yepp: Gary Key (bingo13) from Asus outlines how you enable Marvell 9128 SATA3 6G raid on Asus Rampage III Extreme
Used Xeon W3540 on R3E and it worked great  until replaced with i7 970.
I might even stick it in again when I sell i7 970 while I wait 980X. It is so good for running UnCore@4GHz. ;)
IMO, it's always better to raise UnCore. You get much more bandwidth and it does improve overall speed.
Can someone tell me if it is detrimental to run 4 (2GB) sticks of DDR3 RAM as opposed to 3 sticks?
bingo is talking about raid on the Marvell,
J-Micron is the e-sata controller !!
love this board :)

Hey guys, sorta new to the forum and recently bought a new rig that includes the rampage III extreme. I'm somewhat new to overclocking but didn't shy away from it when I had my e6300 so if anyone has any advice for me I'd more than welcome it in helping me out :)
Here's a short list of what else I got: i7 950, G.Skill PI series 3x2GB DDR3 1600, GTX 480, and a Thermalright U120Extreme since I'm gonna be running on air.
I've managed to push it to 4.08Ghz at 170bclk running the ram at 1704MHz but i've really had to loosen up the timings and apply more voltage to the ram. It seems stable after a few runs from intelburn test and prime95 but I haven't had the chance to do an extended stability test, so I know those are just a rough trial. It doesn't crash when gaming and I've been doing that more than running anything else and have absolutely no problems. I can't seem to get it much further than that. My idle temps are around 40 at idle and upwards of around 70C when under load. I can't get it to boot when I up the bclk from there, the led's right below the ram stop at DRAM when it refuses to boot on anything higher, interestingly it passes that and stops at VGA when i try 200 bclk just for fun. Here's a template of the settings I have, again I'd more than welcome any advice on tweaking the settings. Thanks.

Thanks guys for the heads up on the WiFi. I finally gave up on Bluetooth thinking it would ever function, ended up uninstalling driver and anything blue-tooth related! I wish i could throw the darn card away without having to take out the motherboard, at least it would do something useful like free up two USB ports!. Apparently all that is required is the iPhone/iPad Mobilink V10016 installed on the PC and the latest v1007 iPhone/iPad app, which allows connectivity via WiFi :D I can't see the need for mobilink to be set in the startup group, as Mobilink runs through a service called pnSvc which monitors for iPhone connection.
Started playing around w/ the RC Tweakit utility. I must say it is pretty damn nifty. I really hope they add the ability to change multipliers and ratios in the future though. I'd never have to go in to the bios ever again.
This is the best board I've used yet; running my i7 930 @ 4.3Ghz (205x21) on water. The standoffs on the EK block were a pain, but its now keeping my North and South bridges cool at around 42 degrees. Coming from a Maximus 2 Formula the overall system feels much faster (SSD drive helps here!) and games run even smoother. Got the 295 plus 250 for PhysX. Had some power up issues with bios 1005 so now on 901.
Here’s a little collage of the build at various stages;
I love the look of the black and nickel on the EK and swifty, that is a sweet combo and even sweeter rig!
My system is finally done!! All water blocks installed and no more heat!!
This rampage 3 extreme board is awesome!!
228MHz BCLK LinX stable

right, its watercooled :)
My uncore always seems pathethically low compared to a lot of you guys. But if I take it a notch higher I am no longer stable. What voltages should I pull up to increase the overclockability of the Uncore? Vtt/QPI? If so I am already @ 1.4, is it safe to take it higher?
http://hostthenpost.org/uploads/37e5...b985db5b63.jpg
Does anyone know if the board supports Xeon X5680?
If so with which bios?
hambone07si
great job there m8 looks like a killer set up.
I made a quick vid' of mine if you fancy a peak.

my rex3 have a chill coldbug issue
i have speak with asus greece ans says me asus dont offer a replacement for this issue!!!!
nice mobo but the wrong voltage offset goes to make me crazy

Thanks man. Lots of work and lots of $$$. now its time to sit back and enjoy
Thats a nice setup you have there too.
Do you ever see the water level in your res rise when your system is off from being gravity fed by your GPU's?
I normally just set it to 2x dram freq. but on the rampage III it also worked a notch up for me. I was reading about it, some were saying Dram voltage others said QPI, Im really not sure, but you could lower what you set QPI voltage to in bios by enabling this jumper/switch, its next to the 24pin, just move it to the other position.
was looking around and saw this by eva2000 http://i4memory.com/f83/i7-x58-mem-f...equency-18156/
http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/2443/qpillcjumper.png
When I turn off my system with no pump running, I can open the cap on my bottom/fill res and the water mite raise about a 1/8" to 1/4" at most then I top it off. It doesn't come pooring out like most would think. That res on the bottom also traps any air in the system so it doesn't enter the pump.
Hi Guys,
Just a quick question! Currently I have a gtx 480 in pcie slot 1 and gtx 260 in pcie slot 2 (physx), I would now like to add my second gtx 480 to pcie slot 3. Can I run Sli with my to 480's with the 260 between them? The reason I would like to run this way is make sure my lower 480 is getting clean air from the lower intake on my 800d. Oh I also have a xfi in pcie slot 4.
Hodgy
Yes you can.
If you have max temps to ich/ioh try this.
Push just a little with your finger your vga with direction as in photo and then look your temps in bios or pc probe.
My temps go down at least 10c !!!!
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/9892/dscn0663a.jpg
When i increase my BCLK to >220 the performance in gaming degrades.
The system seems stable i can run intel burn test and prime95 without error. But whenever i load games or 3d benchmarks my performance goes down.
Does anyone else have this issue, and have you resolved it?
Thanks-
It can be your CPU or Mainboard. Try with higher NB Voltage or PCIe clock (103-105MHz).
But that is a bug off all X58 Systems, if they´re near the BCLK limit the 3D performance is worse.
Does anyone run these on R3E ?
