My settings for 3.9 were:
434X9 (No power funtions disabled in bios all default) Should I switch them off?
1.64v cpu
2.15v ddr 4;4;4;15 1;1
mch 1.44
vtt 1.31
Thats pretty much it, heres what it does.
Runs prime 95 small ftts for 3 minutes then whole comp shuts off (no BSOD, No reboot just shuts off)
I am running the new Coolit Freezone ELITE and I am hitting 67 @ 3.78 degrees under the load and I ran a 1.69v last night (blacked out also) with a 69/72/69/74 temp reading. So my temps arent the culprit.
What are some good start settings for it! Basically what would you do to try and hit 4ghz stable for a 20-30 min prime run. Id settle for 15minute, I need a max temp on it for Coolit. I have been beta testing the freezone ELITE and have pretty much everyhting stable to 3.78ghz after that I havent had time to work it with my reg use on the comp.
have you attempted the heatpipe mod?
to get it P95 stable, you will need max MCH and max on the ICHIO 1.5v...my max for P95 was at 3.8Ghz
I havent done the heatpipe mod but I do have a 120mm fan on high directly facinf the pipes and NB.
Max MCH is 1.72 and ichio is 2.volts. Isnt that going to cook something? Temps should be OK but thats a LOT of v through the mch and whatever that other thing is.
Or just start messing with the volts till it stabalizes?
What settings exactly would you start with and mem timings as well maybe loosen them and drop the multiplier to 8 or just play with voltages.
Also what would cause it to just shut off!
BTW I havent played with the ichio 1.5 at all its still at stock settings of 1.5. What does it do?
My stock timings are 4;4;4;15 what should I loosen them to and with those things maxed what should I watch for (rather be smelling for :D)
What t3emp is going to be effected by those and whats its max vs. shut off?
It comes down to the fact that your coolit can't handle a quad at max.
Thats an IMO:shrug:
Just look at your temps before it blacks out. You need more vcore and your temps will just go up more
I watched them and it hasnt gone over 73 max at 1.69v on 2 cores and 69 on teh otehr 2. It holds its own. Its something reaching its limit not the temps on the cpu though. I had a Eliminator I had the quad to almost 80 and NO problems. This ELITE works better than the standard freezone. They went from 175 watts of cooling to 250watts and on top of that both cpu and HS are lapped w/ AS5 along with my 120mm right there blowing air into the case on teh NB and freezone.
where did you get the elite...i might try it...
Barry at Coolit! They have a 30% off any product launch going on right now. Trade an old cooler wether it be fan and HS or wahtever for a discount to try new products.
Heres a link:
http://www.coolitsystems.com/index.p...d=6&id=168#168
So heres a list of what Im going to try: tell me if its a good start.
CPUV 1.69
mch 1.72
ichio 1.5 2v
cpu vtt 1.31
timings 5;5;5;18;42 2.2v
434X9
Sound about right?
What else or what should I watch?
are you talking about actual vcore?...i presume that is a bios setting and you will get around 1.64v actual vcore...i would set it to 1.65 in the bios and start there...then work up if necessary.
I don't don't think you need much vmch or vcpu vtt because your not really in to a real high fsb here and your ram is 1:1. I'd say 1.23 vcpu vvt and 1.37 vmch max. Relax your timings on the ram, as Ace suggests and try it.
I haven't had to run voltages up from default on the ichio and ich for up to 488 fsb and I don't believe these settings will mater much between quad and dual. Why Ace had to max those beets me.
I haven't played with a quad yet, and won't until January;) , but I bet you need to be playing with the cpu gtlref settings. Just a guess.
And you really need to be running memtest before you make these big changes and running them right into the OS. You could start having corruption issues with the OS. Memtest will help you avoid that.
What is the cpu gtlef I saw it and it has 1/3 0/4 whats it for?
bios is 1.69 actual is 1.61 or so.
My FSB is 1600mhz at 3.6ghz as it sits right now.
is there any d/base submitted by user for this abit board?
i mean shared setup & OC achivement
Hey Nelly can you please fix the link for the 'new'
JMicron SATA Driver V 1.17.27 for 2000/XP/2003/64bit - 4th October 07
I just spent/wasted 30 mins checking all the different countries web site download pages for the IP35-Pro and NONE of them have the latest drivers
Received my board today, and it's a V1.10. Has anyone actually found out what the difference is?
What bios should I flash to first? Anything else I should know? I probably won't have time to try 'her out until next week :(
Edit: Oh, and what's that molex connector below the second PCIe slot for? I'll be running a 8800GTX in it. Do I need to plug it in?
The clockgen has been changed from version v1.0 to v1.1 some sources say it's a production line change (ie different part to do the same job) others say it increases the available FSB (more than 600FSB). Jury is still out on that tho.
I am guessing BIOS 14 added support for the different clockgen IC on the rev 1.1 motherboard.
I have a 1.1 board and notice the FSB has a maximum value of 750. Does a 1.0 board running a v14 BIOS have this same maximum?
Currently I have a x3220 CPU (VID=1.30 v) running with stock Intel cooler with
BIOS settings of FSB=334 MHz, CPU Voltage 1.35 v, MCH 1.33 v, DDR2 2.0 v.
I have not run stress tests yet other than playing LOTRO. At Idle and ambient 24 C, uguru 1.05 shows CPU is 28 C and PWM is 39 C.
I don't know what can use FSB=750. I will not be overclocking my x3220 to 6.75 GHz.
Ace-a-Rue
I'm about to perform your heatpipe mod, but I had a question:
1. How the hell did you get the fan to stay on top of the PWM?(lol)
Also, did you see what your temps were like without the heatpipe assembly attached?
Hello there.
I need some help regarding the mosfets.
I am running the IP-35(not the pro version) and i am about to install the MIPS water cooling block on the mosfets.
As expected when I took the original heatsink off I found the "Cover sheet" over the mosfets.
The question is:
Do I keep it and just mount my water block on top of it?
Or do I put it aside, apply ceramic paster on each mosfet and then mount my MIPS Mosfet cooling block?
By the way what was the function of this "Cover sheet" in the first place?
Answers will be greatly appreciated.

AHA!!

I have a TT Big typhoon so this should be interesting...
I have collected the following for my heatpipe mod extravaganzzzza:D
2 Silverstone FM121 120mm 110CFM fans
2 40mm 8.5CFM fans
1 AS ceramique(for the PWM, NB, GPU/GPU RAM)
1 AS 5(for obvious reason:cool: )
1 6 pack of Guinness
I still have to get lapping material(s) and the nuts, bolts, and galvanized rubber standoffs.
Thanx Ace:up:
On another level, is 8.5CFM for the 40mm's enough?
More than enough. @ what rpm's?
I'm doing 3546MHz on my new Q6600 G0 under water at 1.475v in BIOS v. 14, and I get Prime errors at this speed. Shouldn't I could go higher with this voltage on a G0? My RAM is on a divider atm, so it's not them, and I haven't touched anything besides the vcore, but I tried to lower the multiplier, and then the Prime errors disappear, so it's gotta be the CPU, right?
Well it's not my RAM at the moment, so I'm guessing it can only be vcore and MCH that can change anything?
By the way: What temperature sensors should I trust? SiSoft Sandra shows something like 40C load and CoreTemp shows 60-65C.
core temp is accurate when P95

If it helps, I just put my sys together in my sig last night and have been stressing close to 24hrs on the smp folding client once I passed an hr of occt.

It seems like uguru 1.05 is mixing up the temperatures.
abit eq in uguru 1.05 running in XP on a ip35 pro PCB 1.1 bios 14 does not show accurate temperatures; the values seem mis-assigned.
For example, abit eq shows
CPU 25 C
System 29 C
PWM 36 C
However, I measure ambient in the case of 25 C with a thermometer and the utility coretemp shows CPU temps of 36 C.
The negative effect is that FanEQ is getting the wrong temperature and the CPU fan is not speeding up when it should which is causing system instability.
For now, I dropped the FanEQ min temp to 25 C and its 100% fan temp to 32 C. I must say the Intel stock heatsink is quiet and seems sufficient to overclock a X3220 to 3 GHZ.
Hello,
I'm new here and could use some help . I am currently at 3.6 gigahertz. Heres what im working with....

any recommendations on the above settings.changes that would help? the volts are prolly higer than they need to be i just put them at suggested max.
where can i find the voltage settings for the nb?
temps read by core temp are 33 celcius, abit iq shows 21celcius system temp 30 and pwm 41celcius
im using bios and uguru that came with mainboard.
my question is memory, should i go with tighter timings for gaming or higher bandwith since this is an intel proc? i had my ddr2 800 running solid at around 1100. i might be able to hit 1200 but what is better for me timings or bandwith? should i try for 1100 with 4-4-4-9 and up the voltage or something like that?
when i see the memory speed i.e. ddr960 is that doubled with ddr2?
also can you help suggest memory speeds, ratios, timings etc for peak performance? thank you guys
don't worry over the difference between coretemp and uguru...it is what is.;)
ddr1100 is an excellent speed...just play with the sub-timings to see what it can give you....you can try P95 but it puts max stress on your system which most likely require you to, at least, boost your vcore...if you do 30 minutes or 60 minutes of P95, you should feel good about that.
the NB voltage is controlled by your ICHIO 1.5v setting.
PCIe clock will gain you some performance boost from your hard drive and your VC...i recommend not going above 110 Mhz..if you go above 120 Mhz, the intel controller will drop offline.
memory ratios to strap settings are like what is depicted in this image.
"memory ratios to strap settings are like what is depicted in this image."
What is that statement based on?
man just passed 30 minutes of prime95 at 3.8 hmm do i need to run two p95s at same time?
Not if you use v25.4 or Orthos
http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=8981
are you not understanding what is depicted in that image?...this is how abit has the NB coded to set memory straps according to FSB to memory ratio that you select in the bios...i can only work off 1:1 at my 480 FSB...if i lower the FSB, i can jump up to 1:1.2 ratio....some memory like crucial can work at the 1066 strap...mine can not

A Little Question: Who is the best rev of BIOS for this mobo?, thanks...
Hey ace,
the forum mod at abit is named master of none im not sure if its the same person.
btw running at 3.8 on air i know i can go further but 3.8 is good enough for me. I n prime 95 my temps were about 60-62c for core0 for a brief second under 60 for the rest of the cores and pwn went up to 66. are these temps acceptable or are the to high? when im just doing basic tasks the temps are cpu 30-40c and pwm is 53c. the game bioshock crashed on me once and since that happended im wondering if vdroop is the problem and if i should increase the voltage a tiny bit more for the cpu or if maybe the ram was the culprit im not sure since i didnt get any bsod or errors. what do you guys think?
im at these voltages now
cpu volt 1.5525
mch 1.48
cpuvtt 1.23
ich 105
ddr 2.2
ichio 1.55
Well I think I understand what is depicted in that image. And indeed, for the most part the color coding you added matches the N/B Straps and their memory ratios from the Intel 975X chipset. However, note with the Intel 975X chipset the 1:1 memory ratio is available in three different N/B Straps. The IP35 series doesn’t have N/B Strap information in the BIOS. So how do you know selecting the 1:1 memory ratio invokes the PSB1333 N/B Strap and not the native strap based on the processor? For that matter how do you know selecting any memory ratio invokes a particular N/B Strap? I’ll add I tend to agree with you, I’m not trying to be a smart ass. I just want to know, as I asked in the first post, what do you base that statement on? Did you deduce it? Did you read it in an Intel white paper?
Abit AW9D Max N/B Straps and Memory Ratios
PSB533 N/B Strap
DDR2 400 = 2:3
DDR2 533 = 1:2
PSB800 N/B Strap
DDR2 400 = 1:1
DDR2 533 = 3:4
DDR2 667 = 3:5
DDR2 800 = 1:2
PSP1066 N/B Strap
DDR2 400 = 4:3
DDR2 533 = 1:1
DDR2 667 = 4:5
DDR2 800 = 2:3
PSB1333 N/B Strap
DDR2 400 = 5:3
DDR2 533 = 5:4
DDR2 667 = 1:1
Yes, I am a Mod at Abit forums. Ace-a-Rue should be aware of that. That should have nothing to do with my question(s). I know it doesn't for me.
Hey master,
I was just trying to let ace know you are very knowledgeable when it comes to abit motherboards thats all.I was only trying to help:)
glad you are over here because the abit forum is really deficient for finding out the latest board info...this forum is a "cut" above...i haven't been back for a very long time...many times the forum was down when i tried to go to the index page...finally got tired of it being down and, for days!
anyway, this guy, HiCookie, over at OCXTREME.org is an abit enthusiasts (appears to have abit contacts) and he posted that image above...i just copied the image....here is his thread where he discusses this board and the strap info:
http://ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=1025
http://ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=1193
as you being a forum moderator over at abit tells me that you are a level headed individual...i respect that since i can get up on my white horse ocassionally with other posters!:p: :D ;)
stuck: Just make sure you have good temps and tested it perfectly stable. I personally would not run 505FSB 24/7 at all but YMMV. :)
Good thread, loving the board, a shocker for me, and I'm honestly considering it now because I have no need of X38, but it all depends on how well Penryn does on it.
i think the Penryn is going to be a big winner; at least the QX version...don't know about the lower level versions.
Ace-a-Rue,
Thanks for the links; I’ve never been to that site before. I’ve never seen an IP35 Pro BIOS with N/B Straps before either, now that was a surprise.
Ace this bolt mod is the truth:D
I have dropped my load temps on the PWM by an astounding 20c+...I just finished priming at 3.6:450FSB@1080 DDR2 for 8.5 hours...I just wanted to say thanks:D:D
cheers,
h
the bios doesn't actually show you the NB straps persay...it is just shows the FSB to Memory ratios...i believe either Hicookie or onepagebook took the image of that bios section and super-imposed the NB strap info that he apparently received from Abit engineers...SO...you will just see the 1:1, 1:1.20, and so forth...the user just has to know the first two FSB to Memory ratios settings are for the 1333 memory strap; the 2nd two are the 1066 strap settings.
it is the reason why the board clocks higher in the FSB side when using the 1333 strap settings.
The second post at the first link you provided has a screen shot of an early pre-release BIOS with selectable N/B Straps.

I know this is off topic but does anyone know these measurements of the mounting holes for the
northbridge please?
Pin to pin is 58mm
Didn't square it off like your picture. Btw the std chipset cooling is good enough, just add a fan.;)
Does this board support 1066 memory I have Crucial 4X1 GB Ballistix its there kit# bl2kit 12864aa1065.000
This is the memory I want to use
yup,but read and run as 800. So does my pc9200
Ace-a-Rue--> I just flash my board w 14 bios but not pleased with it. When i flashed back, suddenly it restarted itself and stuck at C1 post code. I have 2 hot swap it and reflash w 11 bios.
But the problem is now bios doesnt detect my core temperature. Have u experience such things?
yep. i've tried them all ,except the battery thing, but it wont worked.
Im not sure its gonna work, beacause some people in indonesia have experience the same thing when they flashed back to 11 bios from 14 or 16 beta. But I'll try it anyway.
Thanx
8K????...wholly-mackerel!:D
5 dolla make ya holla:D
just tried, and read as 0 by uguru. I'm beginning to think, is it uguru problem or bios? because in bios they read as N/A. I wonder how's the reading in coretemp....
solved, i just popped the battery & the temp returns...
Ace-a-Rue--> u're really an abit guru:)
DJSUB--->hehe..thanks god, dont need to reflash it many times:)
forsaken1-->thanx 4 the tip
i have an issue with the IP35-pro with my Team Xtreem PC2-8500 sticks.. it runs fine on my Infinity P965 board but is flaky with the IP35-Pro... What could be a possible work around?
5-5-5-15 subtimings are left at auto. will try manually setting the subtimings later.
edit: I'll make a separate post since this is not oc related
Got my board today abit ip35-e.
not tried much, more of getting the game wanted to play with vista.
Booted up nicely though.
this is not to thwart you from posting here but thought you would want to know that there is a IP35-E thread if you care...again, not trying to send you away...good luck with the board!
Hi guys! :)
I have a stupid question, does the IP35-PRO board have any PCI-EX 2.0 slots? I´ve heard something about it but i´m not sure...
Nope, there's no current P35 board with PCI Express 2.0 "slots"
Hi there,
Just read your review i.e. Abit IP35 PRO Review also (Abit IP35 Pro V Asus P5K3 Deluxe)
From those results both boards look just about equal in terms of performance, I think I will stick with the Abit IP35 PRO considering I only use one graphics card anyway & maybe wait till after christmas when the X48 chipset makes it's appearence - see what results bring then. Great review by the way, many thanks.
Heh, thanks Nelly, glad you liked the review m8 ;)
For real-life, I'd stick with the IP35 Pro as well.

Hi... just joined the forum yesterday as my IP35 Pro is on its
way. A couple of questions.
1. Do I need to install the JMicron SATA driver? I am NOT
going to use RAID.
2. Do I need to power the PCI Express Auxillary 12v connector for my PCIexpress graphics card? The card says nothing about needing aux power, or do all PCIexpress cards need aux power? Thanks for any help.
so p35 is nowhere near an 8800 GT the huh?? or it is gonna be compatible only not full performance??
no, if you are not doing raid.
refer to page 1-6 in your manual...i tried it and i found no difference for my setup in stability...it might make a difference if you have a large power draw card and it is NOT augmented with a additional molex plug on the card itself.Quote:
