I´m upgrading to a 24" Tft and i find the Dell 2407WFP very "seductive".
Found same interesting prices on eBay and i´m going to order one for me.
My doubt is which model:
Dell 2407WFP REV A04 or
Dell 2407WFP-HC Rev A00
The HC is the newer model, but is it better than the Rev A04?
What are the differences between these two models?

I've been running the Acer AL2051W 20" WS here.
First thing I noticed was the gorgeous screen - it has a glossy coating and it just looks awesome.
Second, the viewing angle. I have never seen anything like it. You can be standing off to the side and still see whats on the screen. It is the least picky LCD I have used in regards to viewing angle - it just doesn't care where you are.
It doesn't match my BenQ FP241 in color however it does admirably. But for $199 I couldn't resist and I couldn't have been happier. All of the other 20" panels in that range were TN based and just would not suit my needs for this build.
It seems to have about the same response time as the BenQ, no noticeable ghosting and gaming is just dandy. There seems to be some noticeable input lag - however I haven't tested the Deathadder on here so I can't be 100% sure. I am using an MX518 at the moment and I don't plan on installing the Razer software to get the DA working so I can only assume its due to the mouse, unless someone else can comment on this.
There is noticeable backlight bleeding, and its actually pretty bad compared to what I've seen. Still though its not something I am too worried about because you only see it when the screen goes black. For some it is a total dealbreaker though.
I am happy with mine as well. :D One of the best purchases that I have ever made, but the backlight bleed is not that noticeable. It is more uniform and faint for me. (no white patches in the corners like my old monitor)Quote:

The backlighting on mine isn't even around the edges like on most LCDs. It looks more like spotlighting, like a bunch of lights aimed downward on a stage. Its rather odd...anyway I never see them save for that occasional black screen.
Alright, it looks like I may take a plunge into the LCD world. I am trying to decide between the NEC 20WMGX2 and the Dell 2407WFP-HC. Currently I'm running a CRT at 1280x1024 and my main concern is, how much of a performance hit am I going to take with the reso being bumped up for the 20" and 24" monitors respectfully? I can afford the Dell, but right now I simply can't afford to buy another 8800gtx if that's what I would need to run new games well.
Man, I wish there was a 22" non-TN with a reso between the 20s and 24s. =/
It sounds like you have an 8800GTX already. If that's the case you have plenty of power for 1920x1200.
I came accross something interesting about the GX2:
"But you can't go to 4:3 mode when using it in "PC" mode. Normally, we'd just go into the driver and set it to use the display adapter to scale. But the NEC refused to go into 4:3 mode even when we did this. Does this mean that instead of being able to have black bars on the sides in older games that don't do widescreen, I am going to be forced to have it stretched out?
Yeah that's what that means. Some monitors have correct scaling options and others do not.
I say go 24" :D
Not only do you get the size...but these monitors are generally of higher quality, including more inputs and options in the OSD, sturdier stands and better adjustability. That's why you pay so much more.
Oddly enough, the GX2 is by far the highest-quality 20". No idea why they mucked up the scaling. I wish I could test the damn things before I buy one.
I will probably end up with the 2407WFP-HC. The BenQ FP241W looks to be quite amazing as well, however, I simply can not afford the increased price.
Well, Dell pulled a fast one on me. I went to order the monitor today and the price, which had been at $569 is now at $669. Didn't see anything about it being a limited time offer, but oh well. :shrug: Even the "sponsored link" on eBay for the monitor from Dell shows it at $569.
Guess I'll be looking to eBay now.
The HC is better. It is basically the non-HC Rev. A04, but with a wide cold-cathode fluorescent blacklight (allowing it to do more colors, better).Quote:

On a side note, has anyone heard anything about the LG L246WP-BN? *Supposedly it has the same panel as the BenQ FP241W but without the black flicker problem. However, at only $500 I am not entirely convinced it has the same panel as the $730 BenQ.

It sounds like you are talking about the flame frame insertion technology and that is only on the FP241WZ.
It can also be disabled, but then its pointless to spend the money on it at that point. Then you just have an FP241W with worse color.
Beware of those $400-500 24" LCD's out currently. They are mostly using TN based LCD panels and skimping on features to get the price down that low. Not saying they are bad, just make sure you know what you are getting before you throw down the money thinking its a bargain.

i think it is possible to get a HC version that is A04 - (well i thought all HC's were A04; A04 is later model rev than A00)

No TN screen, I prefer MVA or S-IPS.
Is it good to wait for buying a screen because i notice that nothing has changed much after my Benq FP937S+.

I didn't see anything in the guide about native resolutions, and I have questions about this. I have never used an LCD for gaming before, so I have no idea how they run at different resolutions. I want to buy an LCD that is at least 1900 res, so I can push my graphics to the max, but what happens when I play older games that don't support resolutions that high, or even support widescreen resolutions period?
Does Samsung make any 8bit 24" panels?
