You're most likely right there mate.Quote:

On a different note:
I'm having one h3ll of a time trying to OC my 3500+/SLI-D/VX4000...
Was getting errors at 11x205HTT with 3.2v shoved up the VX4000's a$$...
Errors withing the first few minutes or my rig turning off...
I've read that a few folks are using the Enermax 460w PSU (20pin) w/out any problems... 33amps for all the rails so it should be able to handle my rig fine...
I have the 4 pin molex & the floppy drive connecter hooked up but I still get these problems...
Might be the RAM as I was getting errors at 240MHz on my K8N Neo2. I have spent numerous hours/days finetuning my 3200+ as well as my 3500+ & they can do at least 240 but the ram don't seem to like it... Either that or the ram if faulty...
I bought the RAm new but when I cam home to open the pakage, I noticed that there was some evidence that someone had tried to clean the heatspreaders from fingerprint...
Any advice in getting a stable rig?? Don't wanna have to get a 24pin PSU as I know that my PSu can handle it. It's not like I'm running SLI or anything, just an X850XT...
Cheers,
Minnyboy
Phew, that was a lot of typing...
Guys,
Please help me with my OC. I'm really frustrated with XP getting FUBAR'ed everytime I reboot.
System Specs:
DFI LP NF-4 Ultra D, 3/25/05 BIOS
A64 3500+ NC ADA3500DEP4AW CBAUC 0420 MPMW
512 x 2 Mushkin Lvl II Black PC3200
1x Hitachi 80Gb SATA, 1 x Maxtor 60Gb IDE
XFX 6600GT
Fortron Blue Storm AX500-A
SB Live 5.1 ,XP-90 + Tornado +1 800mm and 1 92mm fan blowing directly on the 4V DRAM Vltg select MOSFET and on the RAM.
Current settings:-
1.DRAM running 1:1 with FSB @ 2-2-2-10-1T, 3.4V (everything else on AUTO)
2.CPU Statup VID 1.550V
CPU VID 1.5 V
CPU VID Special control 110%
3.LTD Voltage 1.2 V
CPU 233 x 11 MHz. All 3 power connectors plugged in
4.Chipset Vltg 1.5V
This is what happened so far:-
5.Installed XP Pro
6.Installed SP2
7.Installed DX 9c
8.Intalled NV drivers from the MoBo CD
9.Installed SBC Yahoo DSL stuff (A problem occured here. MS VM installs, but the dialer is unable to connect to the DSL network. However, I can get online with no problems. The dialer just sits there forever, so I aborted the install as I had full connectivity).
10.Did a Windows update
11.Reboot
12.I can see no Icons or the taskbar, wallpaper just stares at me.
13.Ctrl+Alt+Del brings up the taskmanager but I don't see explorer.exe in the process list.
14. Did a system Restore, retried steps 6 onwards, same damn problem.
What is causing this? Are my memory settings too tight? The only reason I bought this board was to let my BH-5 fly. Since that's not happenning, I'm very frustrated.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
S-N
Have anyone reach 2500Mhz with OCZ 3200+ EL and Winnie 3200+ stable?
I have 2430 with FSB270 but i want FSB280 i need help from anyone who has the same hardware.
Does your system work fine at stock clocks? Did you try to start your explorer manually?Quote:

Obviously, I'm doing something very wrong here. My system worked fine at stok settings, but that's not why I got this board, right? :D
I'm going to try flashing to 3-31-2 before I attempt another install. Any suggestions in the interim period would be greatly appreciated.
How about this thread: Post your WORKING timings and voltages for DFI NF4 Ultra-D and SLIQuote:

Okay here is the information.Quote:

No i haven't a active cooling on the sticks (there are only heatspreader).
I have tested the actual timings -> it's prime stable but i can't play any games (it's freezes or a black output).
Nothing runs over 270 :(
try some of the ones posted in that thread, pay special attention to tref values, also try putting a fan over the two sticks, could help a lot..
The Dramtemp are not hot and i opened my case for a better cooling but what i said the Drams are not hot (temp ~ 30-40°C) but it not help.Quote:

I found only 310 but no P on the DFI Page. Shall i downgrade?
u can find 310P here
My mobo seems to power down/freeze after it beeps. Anyone knows why?
try resetting BIOS..
I cant get into the bios. What happens is my pc starts, fans all going, led goes from to 4 and back to 1 and then the cpu fan stops and my other fan slows down. On my monitor it shows the Lanparty splash screen but thats all it does. Keyboard button seems to freeze up. All this happen after the system beeps. So I dont even get to see the bios screen. I've cleared CMOS and remove the battery as well. Doesnt change a thing.
hmm, thats a new one, do u have any USB devices hooked up to the PC?
Nope. I have the bare minimum connected to the mobo. Only 2 80mm fans, graphic card, and 1 stick of ram. No HDD, FDD or even CD-ROM connected to the mobo.
I doubt that this is the cause but I didnt install the Karajan audio module and I havent change any of the jumpers on the board. Its all on default.
Thank you. I hope i get FSB280 stable with this Bios.Quote:

as to people commenting on tony (bigtoe) running 3.3V and greater without using the 5V rail, thats an easy one.
Grab that nice block you use to set your ram voltages to 5V, and move it one row down, so the pins nearest the edge of the boot (should be 3 pins) have nothing covering them. Then get a spare jumper, and cover the uncovered pin as if it were on 3.3V
the pins closest to the ATX plug control the bios options, the one furthest away is the one that chooses 3.3V / 5.0V rail... so its simple, mix and match.
(you need adjusted rails to do this, 3.7V rail gets you about 3.5V in bios)
confirmation: move the block one step towards the ATX plug, as if it were 5V. use a normal jumper such as that on a HD, to cover the pins that are left as if it were 3.3V. this gives you the bios options, but on the 3.3V rail...
Just click on File->New Task (Or however it is named in english), type explorer and hit return.Quote:

Another issue was the crappy IDE SW Driver bundled with the DFI CD. I must have installed it by mistake.
Current settings: 2-2-2-5-1T @ 232 MHz, 3.4V
CPU 232 x 11. Nothing spectacular, but I'll hang with this for the moment. Its getting bloody hot in my room so I'm a bit wary to push my rig further.
Yes many programs of DFI are very buggy :( . Last chance is the DFI Support.Quote:
