Duh

dave it is very tempting.. once I build my pending rigs I am gonna check my wallet to see if I can build one of these..

I surely hope that means something different there than it does here! :eek:

"Silver solder" here is one step below brazing on the temperature scale and requires the use of an oxy torch!

I said it wrong.. Silver solder is sort of a generic term here .
What I bought is technically 60/40% rosin core solder.
.062 diameter

Ok, taking odds..
Will it work?

Now i have read this thread a bit now- so I apologize if I ask something that has most likely been asked. But basically these Sossaman rigs are very basic machines with pretty good cpus- in a sense are these diskless? or are they run on linux to keep the cost down?

Of course, with questions like these maybe I shouldn't ask but, I would love to put a few together to crunch away. Though if I have some of this correctly some of the parts are hard to come by in the US.

Observing also that folding crunching data is in some aspects a small financial commitment-using the system but drawing more power than usual. Though maybe I am mistaken- am I confusing this for a small size folding farm

Resistor is off, just made up the jumper to go to ground.

I've learned a lot at this place from some very talented people.. Time to see if I can put some of it to work.

Anywhere I can find a list of the various sSpecs on these chips? I've had lots of 771 LV/ULV chips pass through my hands but usually don't deal with this socket.

@Dave: If you know of a few sSpecs (ES or release) I can try to locate some CPUs if people in this thread are interested :)

There is also rumor of a 2300mhz sossaman but damned if I can find one anywhere and I don't know the spec on it..

It did exist, that company that made the box with 4 blades in it used the 2300's in their systems.
I know, I called them in Canada the other day to see if they had any left over..:D

now my night, assembling the "modded" sammy, pull out my PCP+C610 to install my brandy assed new Corsair 400w PSU that comes with a 24 pin and 8 pin and guess what?
It isn't a 8 pin but a double 4 pin and connectors are wrong for the 8 pin on my board..
Even the box shows a 8 pin but not inside..:mad:

I'd contact the Corsair rep here, sounds like maybe it has the wrong connector on it somehow - 8pin is 8pin I would think, so that 8 pin probably wouldn't work on any board that requires it.

bad night, system powers up but two leds at back top have issues..
Top is red, second one down is a mix of red and yellow..

Had enough for one night..1:23am here..I think this board may be considered a $30.00 contribution to science and learning..:shrug:

omg.. this is the longest thread eVer. Well not the longest-but the coolest, most intriguing and most likely in the end result for a good cause! Had some work stuff to do and went to class late and am still reading through this whole thing- it's not like someone can quickly scroll through this, would probably miss something.

Dave I want to know what your end result with that PSU- they like a good price for product and I am getting a list together- I bid on 2 chips last night before I hit the sack. Not the best price but still OK probably gonna pick up a few boards also. "Ideally" I want to get 2 or 3 of these things running by May; they seem perfect!!

I need to go through this thread more and pull out all the necessary guts
