zbomb the P5B is probably setting different sub-timings than the DS3. If you could get a SS of the P5B's memset at 1185mhz you can copy those timings over to the DS3. I'm sure they are much looser.

I have a HR-05 nb heatsink along with an 80mm fan on it, so i am pretty sure the nb is very cool. And while i was testing the memory, i let a 120mm fan sit over the memory.
My max fsb is 522, so you are saying to boot up at lower fsb and not test the memory through booting up in the bios, but rather use setfsb21a to overclock and test the memory in windows? I might give that a try later on today.
i will try to do that also.
thanks hutch, ill let you know if i get any more luck.
UPDATE: I tried to use setfsb, but i had better luck just using easy tune (program that is for the ds3). Again, 2.5 multiplier does not work whatsoever when trying to oc the memory, it won't even do 1000+ without having problems and freezing on me.
I changed to multiplier of 3, and i had some more luck.
Problem is that I can only boot at 1140 in bios sometimes, and sometimes I can’t. So I broke the 1080 barrier after tweaking with the subtimings in the bios. But I had a lot more luck with ocing the memory when I tweak with the subtimings in memset and use easy tune to bump up the fsb.
I changed the subtimings to what are shown in the first pic for the hz’s, and those subtimings were pretty much what my cousin’s p5b deluxe are set to. I was able to hit 1170 fsb and run super pi 1m, but I also hit 1190 fsb before the comp froze trying to run super pi. Seems 1170 on the hz’s was the most stable for the ds3 with 2.5v. But I really didn’t do much testing, pretty much trying to figure out if the ds3 is limiting the memory overclock or if it is the memory.

I then ended up testing my cousin’s crucial, which also wouldn’t boot at over 1140 in bios with loose timings. Under easy tune though, with setting the subtimings pretty much to what the hz’s were at, I was able to hit 1260 and get off a round of 1m super pi. I hit 1272 but the comp froze with the crucial at 2.4v, I really didn’t put any more voltage into the crucial since they are my cousin’s and he would probably get butt hurt if he knew I did.

So thanks hutch, I originally didn’t mess with multipliers and subtimings in windows much because I really wanted to get the memory to boot higher from the bios, but that just wasn’t happening. So you getting me to try setfsb made me play with a few other things in windows and I pretty much figured that I could hit higher memory overclocks if I played with them in windows, meaning my ds3 is capable of doing it, just not from bios.
zbomb: anytime bud ;)
G.skill PC8000 HZ back in stock at newegg for $239.99

In my opinion the Ballistix should definelty be your first choice, a bit more user friendly even though both kits are very capable!
Pick up a kit and let us know if it's the real deal Ziddey, I'm curiosu to know! There is a guy on ebay selling Crucial 10th Anni's for $80 shipped per 1GB modules and he's got about 18kits avaiable. Check it out guys I think it's the real deal?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=110115089377
he is in my city, i messaged him, i will let you know what he says, i asked if i could pick up 2 in town, i will even call crucial and ask about serial numbers to confirm that it is the real deal when i meet up with him if he lets me meet with him.
need to cancel my firestix orders if i am picking these up, and i need to decline shipment for my pc8000 crucial if i buy the anniversary sticks.
It is 3:51 am and I am still up. I have a few things i need to do at 7:30 am such as call buffalo and cancel my order for 2 2gb kits of the ddr2 800 firestix, then i need to contact a rebate place about my rebate for my antec spot cool fan which is suppose to be free after rebate but they declined my rebate even though it is on the same receipt as my antec nine hundred rebate which wasn't declined (doesn't make sense). Then I need to call newegg since I think i missed the rebate deadline for my pc8000 ballistix so i need to send those back or have the package returned to sender.
Then hopefully around 8-9 am i will call the guy that has the 17 1gb sticks of crucial anniversary series memory since i have their phone number now, and i may just pick up 4 of the 1gb sticks once i meet up with them, i will let everyone know about the ballistix anniversary sticks once i meet up with them and i will go straight home and make sure i can hit at least 1250 w/ 2.4v, if they are legit, then i would recommend them since it is an awesome price to have 1gb for $80 shipped if you are in the U.S., $153 shipped for 2gb if you are in the U.S.
@ $155 shipped for 2gb of Crucial Tenth Annies this would be a freaking awesome deal if you ask me. You know, sometimes people do not know what they are selling, for all we know he/she may think he/she selling just regular PC2-5300 with a pretty blue heatspreader...:p:
Whats the deal with those 120$ firestix???
New deal on the firestix....
Buffalo FireStix (GMH) 2x1 DDR2 800 102$
Get them wile they are hot :P

Yes Shimmishim, it was me who let the cat out of the bag. It was very late and it just slipped out, lol! I guess I should have kept my mouth shut because I wasn't able to go back and get another stick after accidenlty only getting one, lol! Live and learn!
Your not kidding nicepun, I would rather have gotten your Patriot modules for sure! Plus when I first saw that auction that shimmishim showed me I thought it was actually 2GB for $72 because I was so excited I didn't read thoroughly, lol! So I only bought 1GB instead of 2GB and by the time I realized this all the modules had sold out!!!
