Thanks Ligushka-Did the Realtek update.
When Blue Screens started, I stopped the overclocking and have everything set defaults, with no effect on the occurrences of Blue Screens. I run Real Temp and all my temps have stayed in the 35F range, with 50F+ under Prime Load. I will run the Burn Test, and the memtest86+, and do the PS voltage test shortly .

Coincidentally, the Blue Screens started when I installed Avast Free AV, recently, and occur only after full scans. Took me a while to figure that out, as I have been running the full scans at night. Finally ran a full one today, and Voila, up came the blue screen, so I have since uninstalled Avast and returned to MSE. I have also run Scan Now, and it did some repairs to my sys files.

So, all-in-all, with your advice and lots of other forum folks, I hope I have this problem solved.

I'm glad you were able to solve your problem. I'd still run the IntelBurnTest & memtest86+ at stock and then overclocked speeds to verify stability, and check PSU voltages under idle & load.

Hah! Good catch-Celsius is correct. Just finished running Intel Burn for 10 @ High and passed perfectly. Will do Memtest tonight at bedtime, and let it run over night.

Following that I'll haul out my old analog Multi, and check the PSU. If all that checks out, I'll rebuild the overclock from scratch, though probably not to the 4.1 I had previously.

I just want to make sure system is stable, as I plan to upgrade to a 2500k and Win7 system shortly, and keep this system for off line work, and backup.

On another note, I really don't like updating 13 BIOS versions, it's quite tedious. I think I'll just update 16, 17, 18, & 18ZZZ for simplicity's sake, and if anybody needs any other version they can just post here and I'll gladly do it. I'll get around to testing that new JMicron OROM and the latest Intel AHCI OROM soon.

I'm sorry but I have to say a board thats around 4 years old, the manufacturer isn't even around anymore and you want BIOS updates and things... thats really flogging a dead horse right there. Some good P45 boards can still be found new through a bit of googling.

I was able to get SSDs working properly on this board thanks to Ligushka BIOS update (Intel RAID/AHCI Option ROM 8.5.0.1030), there is no need to change the board, just want to keep it up-to-date if it is possible. I don't think that I am the only one using Ligushka BIOS to keep this board going.

This has been a great board. Finally looking to upgrade and now the company I relied upon is gone. So sad.

ASrock maybe the company I move too, they seem to have the same type of gamer friendly design's as Abit did.

I haven't attempted updating yet. I'm still positive that the Intel AHCI ROM will not work, but the JMicron should.

I'm new to this forum, and looking for some advice on memory selection for my new IP-35 Pro build. I'm trying to finish building a partially built computer that was started a few years ago, but never completed. All parts are brand new, never been used. I've got these parts: IP-35 Pro mb (bios unknown), Intel Quad Q6600 cpu (SLACR, stepping GO), Noctua NH-U92B cpu cooler, MSI NX8800GT OC'd graphics card, PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 PSU, HT Omega Claro sound card, Antec P182 case, Windows 7 Home Premium, and for memory, I have a 4g (2x2) dual channel kit of Mushkin #996582 DDR2 PC2-6400 with 5-4-4-12 timings. I plan on playing around with OC'ing this rig when done, and will do very mild gaming, photoshop work, and general computer usage.

My problem is, I want to run 8g of memory, and I don't know which is the better way to go with this build for the best performance. I have 2 options that I'm looking at, and I need advice as to which way to go.

Option #1: Keep the 4g of PC2-6400 Mushkin 5-4-4-12 I have now, and then add another 4g (2x2) dual channel kit of PC2-6400 G.Skill #F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B (4-4-4-12 timings) for a total of 8g. Will the Mushkin & G.Skill run okay together?

Option #2: Don't use the Mushkin (sell it), and instead order 2 dual channel kits of (2x2) of PC2-8500 G.Skill #F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI-B (5-5-5-15 timings) for a total of 8g.

So, I know the IP-35 Pro MB is old, but this forum & thread seems to still be going and willing to help people out. Hopefully you guys can help me out here so I can get a great build. Also, any additional advice or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just go with what you've got, no need to waste money. You'll not notice the difference in timings outside of synthetic benchmarks. I'd have more, but (slightly) slower RAM than less, but faster RAM any day. The two RAMs mixed should run at 5-4-4-12 timings I think.

Flash BIOS 14ZZZ and you will be set.

Thanks for the help. Guess I'll keep the 4g of Mushkin PC2-6400, finish the build and get it running, and then just buy another 4g of the G.Skill PC2-6400 fairly soon. I didn't know if there would be much of a difference between running PC-6400 and PC-8500, and if it was worthwhile to get the 8500 or not. I'm all for saving money, especially on this "old" technology build, and with the other parts and 8g of memory, it'll be faster than what I'm running now.

Also, even though I've built 3 computers previously, I've never flashed a BIOS, and am a little concerned about that. Can you offer any advice on how to successfully do this without screwing things up, or point me in the right direction for the "how to" information? Thanks.

Create a bootable USB flash drive by using this tool and these DOS files. Flashing instructions are in the BIOS archive in the post I linked.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot next week when I have some time around the house again. Out of curiosity, why flash to the 14zzz BIOS and not the latest 18zzz one? Any particular reason? Is the 14zzz as high as I will ever be able to go?

BIOS 14 and below have reportedly better compatibility with 65nm processors, which is what your Q6600 is. You may use any BIOS revision you wish, 14ZZZ is just a suggestion. I believe BIOS newer than 14 has some issue with reading the core temperature improperly or something like that, I don't recall exactly.

Download the BIOS compilation

I highly suggest you do not use any BIOS older than 14, but I've included them if you absolutely need to run an older version for whatever reason. Flash at your own risk. I've personally tested 18ZZZ only. There's very little chance of failure for other versions, however. Worst thing that'll happen is some option ROM throws an error, in which case you flash back to a stock BIOS and post here so I can figure out why and possibly correct it (or put in an older working version of that option ROM instead).

If you do not require the PXE ROM to display its "press Shift+F10 to configure..." message twice after the Intel AHCI OROM's initialization message during boot up, go to the CMOS setup screen, then Integrated Peripherals, then Onboard PCI Device, and set - Invoke Boot Agent to Disabled for both Network Controller 1 and Network Controller 2.

If for some reason you require a beta BIOS version available from the lejabeach website updated, please send me a PM.

• Intel Chipset 9.4.0.1026 NEW!

  These drivers are unnecessary if you're running Windows Vista or newer as they contain all necessary chipset drivers for our board. If you would still like to run Intel's drivers, you can update Intel system devices through Device Manager by pointing them to an extracted installation directory of these drivers, but I don't think there is any benefit to doing so. Still running mine with my Q6600 @ 3.6GHz. I've been really tempted my bite the bullet on a 2500k setup, but my ip35, Q6600 and GTX 580 are giving me 60FPS on BF3, Skyrim, Rage and anything else I want to play.

Such is the case with games being developed for consoles with 5 year old hardware...
