Geez ... I haven't even tried 0702 ... :(
The supplied active NB heat sync is too big to go with my Utra 120 CPU sync. Anyone else doing a guetto cooling system with a 40mm fan?
Right now I'm about 60 degrees at idle, wouldn't mind getting it down a few more degrees.
im in the high 30's to 40s on my torture rack jeff for reference. Fans all over though def help
Yah, I'd pound it with air and keep it open if I didn't need major silence when mixing down audio.

This little guy doesn't move allot of air, so I'm thinking it's going to have to be right down flush with the passive sync, offset a bit to avoid the dead spot. Would pull be better in this situation to not push the heat back down on itself?
anyone running this new bios yet? i skipped 0702 :ROTF:
is 0704 public release or a beta again?
i like the sound of those extra settings might help with my rig :)
Do you have a link where we can find it? I have 0602 and its running fine at 4.3 Ghz
bios 704
seems to read the correct volts for cpu in everest ultimate more accurately
when i installed windows re-recognized my cpu, (new microcode?)
seems better than 702....smoother
here u go;
http://www.mediafire.com/?g3ncuiagknz
I just flash from 602 to 704 and My crossfire Setup is now working, I didnt have to make any voltage modification or anything except for vcore. I didnt even touch the IOH voltage (1.19v for crossfire)
Thanx for your help everyone...
Newb question ... IOH refers to In Out Hub or the SouthBridge? And ICH refers to Integrated Controller Hub or Northbridge? What controls the PCI-E voltage? In BIOS there are IOH PCI-Ev and ICH PCI-Ev ... which one does what?
PS: Also flashed to 0704 ... ASUS EZ-Flash 2 is the best
Yet another crap retail i7 980x!!! :(
seriously... :)

Just wondering if anyone has a W3570 in there R3E. My w3570 is is a gem batch and it does 4.2 easy as but when i try for 4.4 linx fails going into 2ndpass
I have tried all i can think of but cannot for the life of me get it stable.
My cpu does 4.8 on casecade with 1.3 volts i thought for sure it would do 4.4 on water.
I have even up the cpu volts to 1.4 and nothing
Have aloso tried different multi's
Have even tried 20x210 for 4.2 it wont even do that
I just got the R3E today to replace Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME and I have a big problem with my RAM
It is OCZ Blade DDR3 2000 CL9 (9-9-9-30-2N)
The exact RAM worked fine with the Gigabyte Extreme Mobo but it gives no POST with the R3E , the strangest thing is that it did the same thing with a friend's Asus P6T Vanilla mobo
I can't get the RAM to POST @ 2000 CL9 but it workd fine @ 1600 CL7
With the Gigabyte Mobo I OCed my Core i7 920 to 4.22Ghz and RAM @ 2010 9-9-9-28-1N
Voltages for Gigabyte were :
CPU @ 1.275v
VTT @ 1.555v ( Yes it is high but the Blade RAM would only work at this high VTT Voltage)
DRAM @ 1.66v
With the same settings and voltages, the R3E would not POST with 2000Mhz DDR3
So , I have 2 different Asus mobos that refuse to POST with the same Memory while Gigabyte worked just fine
What can I do ?
I've tried different BIOS settings/ Voltages with the same No POST problem
I've even tried BIOS 0704
thanks mate any chance you could do a bios template for me ? Would much appreciate it.
Also what bios are you using.
Thanks
These are no my setting but just a template i grab would you mind editing with what your current bios settings are

Thanks needforspeed
Will try that later when i put mt rig back together.
Cpu volts seem high for 24/7 what are max temps we can go on these chips for 24/7?
EDIT
Load-Line Calibration [Full]
CPU Voltage 1.415 [1.368]
You LLC is on FULL doesnt that increase voltage when underload?
Your CPUV is set to 1.425 in Bios and underload it does to 1.368?
When i had my llc on FULL it was increasing Volts under load
Unless I read bingo's post incorrectly third party CPUv should be fixed shortly. :woot:
Anyone having issues with the board not posting when you make a change in the BIOS?
Every time I change anything, it fails to post. Even if everything is stock and it has nothing to do with overclocking...
Is this after you flashed to new BIOS or just any change to BIOS settings? Seems strange, but I always set to default settings (F5) before flashing BIOS. I use ASUS EZ-Flash 2. That is the best way to flash BIOS IMO.
Strange thing happened today though. I have my two HD4870x2's in X-fire and when I went to new Catalyst drivers 10.5, I had strange artifacting and then reboot. I did not change voltage in PCI-E after flashing to new 0704 BIOS. I had to remove one video card and remove drivers via hardware device. I then was able to reload new 10.5 drivers and everything is okay. But question is which PCI-E voltage do I change? Southbridge or Northbridge?
