Guys what is the general agreement for the TJmax of E0 Q9550s? I know intel said 100c, but I'm pretty sure it is 95c, at least for my SLB8V. My reasoning for this is simple: A) My old Unlapped Q6600 B3 at 1.34v got up to 69c on it's hottest core under an unlapped Big Typhoon, my Lapped 45nm Q95 at 1.32v under a Prolima Tech Megahalem in a push/pull config is at 67c on it's hottest core. and B) the socket temp is about 12-14c cooler at full load, I would think that socket temps would be very little under the core temps (5c at most) from my experience with AMD64s and Conroes. What do you think?

What is the max safe cpu termination recommended for daily use?
Hi I'm a new user.
I have a Q9550
My new result is:

What mobo did you use?
i have mine nog 500x8 stable at 1.216V @ Load

guys, need your advice
Couple days ago changed my old C1 e8400 to new E0 q9550
Batch L922xxxx
Vid 1.2125
Although i am glad that my temps decreased by 7-10 degrees compared to e8400
by my problems is temp sensors of quad.
@idle 30 37 32 32
@prime 45 41 42 42
What is wrong with them& Can they be fixed? Is it normal?
BTW: using WC rig to cool it:
dtek fusion v2
360feser rad
tygon 7/16 tube
mcp355 pump
xspc res/top
4xSun Ace h1011 @5v
45nm Core 2 Duo and Quad temperature sensors have a tendency to get stuck at low temperatures and are not accurate. Your E8400 wasn't accurate and neither is your Q9550 so it's kind of pointless to make any temperature comparisons between these two CPUs.
The core reporting 37C at idle is likely stuck. Run a RealTemp CPU Cool Down Test and you will be better able to see the sticking points of your sensors. Intel designed these sensors to control thermal throttling and thermal shutdown and doesn't recommend that they be used to report accurate core temperatures. They all get stuck at some point. Yours look better than most as some can get stuck whenever the core temperature goes below 50C.

It's also likely that TJMax is not consistent across your 4 cores. You would need to take your CPU up to about 70C before this becomes obvious.

do my temps look OK for a TRUE push/pull ? +washer (not lapped)

When I use IBTv2 my temps go up to 76°C
Looking at kagula's results, with higher vcore and clock speed, he gets 64°C max after +-12h Prime
True papst/nfp12 <> Megahalem scythe/scythe should give the same performance I think ?
Could it be the case ? I don't really have an intake fan.
my buddy just got one yesterday and the VID is 1.3V I could not belive it! i was very unimpressed
HI KingLex ... I have a verry well ventilated case (Antec Twelve Hundred) and the ambient temperature is low (about 20 degrees) ... Also my Q9550 is a high VID so it's working cooler. The low VID quads tend to overclock higher (and using much lover CPU voltage) but they tend to be hot and they usually require extreme cooling ... like water or high cfm fans.
Anyway u seem to have a nice Q9550 there ... have fun with it! :)
EDIT: also True scales well with high cfm fans (not too great with low cfm ones) ... while Megahalems (or Noctua and even Scythe Mugen 2) is good with both low and high rpm fans ... while for only silent fans (if someone intends to make a powerful silent computer) one off the best to do this job would be Cooler Master Z600. In your case water cooling would do miracles :).
Hope my answer helps.
Cheers, Ovidiu Florin.
I was also thinking that my case isn't the best ventilated. Just 1x120mm intake and 1x120mm exhaust. Ambient temperature 22~23°C.
So...

Change in temps ...
none whatsoever
At least I had something fun to do this sundaymorning :D
I'm hoping to take my q9550 to 4000mhz, my e8400 did it so it would be a nice upgrade if I would get it also stable at that speed.
OCCT large ran 12+hours and I started prime blend directly after that
I'm guessing it's goiing to be stable

I'm now running the corsair h50 with the noctua nf-p12 fans at +-1100rpm (little less noise than at 1300rpm). This is also with the new antec 300 case (much better ventilated).
I would just like to run with a little less vcore and mch core
Now 4Ghz at 24/7 rock stable!

temps at Linx not more,than 80C,at Prime95 not more,than 65C.
Rampage Extreme is great mobo!

Hello ... long time lurker, infrequent poster. Just picked up a Q9550 at my local Microcenter in Columbus, Ohio. Batch # L847C221, pack date of 8/20/09. Coretemp reports a VID of 1.1v. Running a modest overclock of 3.2ghz (375x8.5) in an Asus P5K. Sorry, no screenshots. Folks here seem interested in vids related to batch numbers so I thought I'd share.
Just like fdisker, I just picked up a Q9550 at Microcenter in Kansas City with a Batch # L847C224, Pack Date: 08/03/09, and a vid 1.175.... I'm only slightly overclocked at 3.2ghz (400x8.0) on an old Asus Commando...but only 1.040 Vcore priming as I'm typing this. Just sharing like everyone else.
Ok, here's a screenshot.
