I had been running very stable with a few months of uptime, now my machines start crashing the day I leave them alone, kinda a bummer. I'll be able to check it out Sunday night.
Don't discount biological interference. If something/someone got in there and knocked out the wrong lead you wouldn't know what might happen.
It took me a long time to get into a stable mode. I had similar effects. Before my output went crashing down for personal reasons, I had reached a very high reliability of the whole system. It took a long time to know how each machine reacts to each project, and the little tweaks, optimal OC level for CPU and memory, WI_Lan problems, optimal project mix etc. etc.Quote:

trn is having difficulties and can't get to his machines to sort it out for a while and EtaCarinae has thermal issues for now, so it's opened up the pie for a few more chasers.

Thanks :D The motivation was there. Cancer has played a very big role in my family's lives, with most men passing away before the age of 60. I heard that HFCC was coming to an end soon and at my current rate I wouldn't have managed Sapphire before the deadline. It was all the motivation I needed to throw everything I can at the project ;)

Up to a point. There is a clause in the contract protecting the landlord from abuse. As it is, I may end up getting a bit of an increase with my current hardware - trying to find out about maybe selling and condensing again or relocating a PC or two someplace else. Like perhaps turn the one into my office machine where its power usage would be minimal compared to the rest of the stuff running.Quote:

I was over a power consumption target I had set myself. That, along with the first taste of summer heat, meant some crunchers had to stand down:shakes: If energy prices keep going up, more will follow:cussing:

I'm chewing on that blueberry slice the last couple of days but I am kind of in the same boat. Weather is heating up and electric bill is very high, heat in basement is getting bad. I use my air conditioning power feed in winter to run a bank of P4's and need to run the furnace fan 24/7 to get rid of the heat so the upstairs is now staying too warm this spring. Now that 1155 motherboards are starting to reappear on the open market I'll be pulling some older P4 energy hogs off line and using the savings on the energy bill to build some more efficient 2600K units this spring and summer. I was going to do it sooner until the Intel chip glitch and the 1155 MBs disappearing act. I can build a new 1155 cruncher every 2 months with the power savings and bulldozer may appear soon to tear up the 1155 crunching landscape as well. Ubuntu 11.04 is also just on the horizon (which I use so as to not enrich Mr. Gates anymore than necessary) My points may be dropping way off very soon.
Well it sounds like we will have a little extra firepower to scrape up for the next super computer week :p:
