You ever get those screens for that 4050mhz shot?
hey, Grn ?
are these the ram sticks you have ??

(model: TWIN2X2048-8500C5D)
since i have a 500$ bestbuy gift card, i'm looking for some different ram... im just not happy with my crucial's anymore..
how would you rate them?
Ahhh, that post. I thought you meant the AFUDOS ES posts...? :D

that should do it. lowest possible voltage settings to be be 8 hours prime stable small ffts and memtest for 4 hours for my particular rig:up:
my quad is LOVING the higher gtl... wish it would go to 80 though
Sick, thanks for the update :)
I will let you know how I fair with that heh.
Is GTL dangerous at all or is it merely a 'setting' that doesn't affect temps or possibly damage any components? I have it on auto and can't get to 3.7 from my 3.6 OC even if I up all my voltages by 3 clicks. Should I just max my GTL or what?
Did you guys ever find a version that allows you to flash back? I PM'd Zen just now, but this MIGHT be one that could work, I have a P5K deluxe so I am not even keen to what you guys are trying to accomplish....
This might, or might not, be a genuine find, but just wanted to help the brothers out....

Please investigate if this is the real deal, and apologies if you have already solved the issue! (too lazy to read through all the pages in the thread)....

i used the 907 as the base for a bios mod BEFORE i found the es version of afudos in an attempt to get back with the tools we had available at the time. anyways to put it short it didnt work and so now we all use afudos. if we could, please kill this subject as it is confusing everyone here but me.
Well ... if I try to flash from Rampage to Maximus using bios 1004 I get a "bootblock corrupted" message and AFU236U exits. If I flash using bios 907 everything is fine.
I haven't tried this with the older 226ES version of AFUDOS.
This might simply be the case of a beta bios not containing a complete bootblock.
Sweet. I love the Rampage BIOS options for memory. I'm now running @ 440x9 on Air. I still have some instability but I'm working it out slowly. Once I can nail this setting down I'm going to try for 4ghz+ being 444 FSB+. I've been thinking of running a small WC loop just for the NB to see if I can't get it's temps more under control. I'm worried that I might end up going crazy and build a whole WC rig and use DC200 for the coolant. I've had a few gallons sitting around for just the job. :) Thanks for all the work guys.
alright.... what ram would you guys go with.... i have to buy it from bestbuy; unfortunately :/
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....d=abcat0506001
Out of that selection, the 1066 dominators would be the best I'd say
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1196470792007
thanks zen, but i mean when i change vcore in the BIOS, to say 1.400, when i enter windows and run cpuz or speedfan, i get a large deviation like 1.34 when idle, not under load, or if i enter 1.34 in bios i get 1.28 when idle, so if i want to get 1.4, it looks like ill have to increase vcore to like 1.5 or something, something is deff off
It's been awhile since I'm using my 907. Should I upgrade to 1004 for my Q6600? It seems the 45nm has more benefits with this BIOS than the 65nm Quad and Dual.
@chaosminion; giftcard...
@zen
the problem is, best buy doesn't sell cpu's; only full systems :/
....plus even if best buy did sell it; the fact that your average e-tailer sells the q9550 for $500, BB's price wold probably be astronomically higher.
rampage formula is available but at a ridiculous price
RM3.2=USD1
DFI LT X38 -T2r= RM 880
maximus formula = RM1050
maximus formula SE = RM1150
Rampage formula = RM1350?????
Maximus Extreme = RM1399
Seems it needs like 1.5v FSB to get 475x8 stable....... Will report back findings.
As listed in the BIOS: (not the values selected, but the actual values)
CPU: 1.480
CPU PLL: 1.616
FSB Termination: 1.456
DRAM: 2.352
NB: 1.648
SB: 1.072
SB 1.5: 1.536
Also I noted one peculiar thing - if I set all voltages to auto and boot with 266MHz FSB I get theese values: (same order as above)
CPU: 1.288
CPU PLL: 1.616
FSB Termination: 1.232
DRAM: 1.888
NB: 1.264
SB: 1.072
SB 1.5: 1.536
And if I change the FSB to 400 and up the vcore to 1.500 then I get these values (note the NB and the CPU PLL, they are still on auto..)
CPU: 1.496
CPU PLL: 1.632
FSB Termination: 1.456
DRAM: 2.368
NB: 1.632
SB: 1.072
SB 1.5: 1.536
Why do the NB and FSB T increase this much?
Also even though I select 1.5V CPU PLL, I cannot get below 1.61V when running 400MHz FSB
I've finally managed to get the dreamed 3.6ghz in my Q6600.
400x9
just put Vcore 1.41, STRAP 400mhz, anb NB 1.5V
the biggest part of settings is AUTO
do you guys know if my 2x1gb Corsair XMS2 800mhz rev 5.2 / 5-5-5-12 at 1.9V can handle the clock of 1066????????
wich settings I should input to handle this OC???????
Anyone with a Q6600, I am noticing on BIOS startup screen that it's only seeing 2 cores. Didn't it used to say 4?
Vista 64 sees them and so does cpu-z. Maybe it's nothing to worry about?
It's like Zen told ya it's Vdroop and without loadline calibration on, it will drop to an even lower level when loaded... eg my Q6600 needs 1.2 volts for 3ghz I need to set in maximus bios 1.2625 to get 1.21 volts under idle, when primed it drops to 1.2. for my Qx9650 even worse needs 1.38volts for 4ghz need to set 1.4750 to get it running smoothly...
Glad I finally decided to buy a Maximus instead of waiting for a Rampage. I downloaded everything I need to flash back and forth between the two :D
Mine will be watercooled and I hope it will work better than my P5K-E which got tired of being stressed with 4 sticks and crapped the NB.
I will try to flash to Rampage and back to Maximus with 0907 version 2-3 times. If everything works, I can confirm so the OP can update the first post (it still have old informations which is confusing everyone now).
Anyone who tried a P5E to rampage with good results,
I'm really tempted by some posts of lower vcore, would get my QX overclock higher with less vdroop too.....
Yeah, P5E to Rampage works too. The second Ethernet won't work and there are a few other random things but as a whole the cross flash works.
May just give it a try over the long weekend, ;)
The QX really deserves a better mobo than the stock P5E, that and the endless memory glitches/compatabilty with anything more than a modest overclock would've seen me changing the mobo soon anyway,
Thanks for the replies. :)
thanks again leeg. i guess i just feel a vcore of 1.34 is too much to get the q6600 at 3.2 ghz. i know i must need more though because with everything set auto except 9x355 FSB and 1.34 vcore, i get prime95 errors after 20 min.Quote:

under this load the vcore drops b/w 1.304 and 1.296. any other voltages i should adjust? my ram is running 1:1 at 10xx (1083 if i remember)
Well I was a bit bummed to, but he re assured me it was a fluke and to keep cranking these things out the volts. I ordered 2 2x1 kits and one kit came as a dual sided and the other as a single sided. I heard that the dual sided performed much better. He said he would exchange my defective one plus the other good single sided one for 2 new dual sided sticks.
Thats is GREAT customer service.
Thumbs up for CRUCIAL !!!
The Reps name was Brian.
CPU GTL from 0.63x had it in Maximus now is it worth for 0.67x?
Does it allow lower vcore? Some of you have done it already.
Hey guys, heads up if you have DDR2 800 or 1066 Tracers 1GB sticks:
Link
Crucial has removed X38 and X48 from the compatible chipsets list for these sticks. Call them up yourself and ask them. On 3/7/08 the Engineering department invalidated the compatibility spec. The lady I had on the phone said she saw a "note in the system" dated 3/7/08 stating this.
Having trouble with your DDR2 800 or 1066 Ballistix Tracers?
See here.
Why has newegg and tiger direct stop selling this motherboard?
ZZF and a few other online retailers are still selling them but I have to wonder if it's based on overstock? This doesn't look like a case of "out of stock" for NE and TD either.
Just get Mushkin and be done. I had my sticks survive a NB death...
Ok this rampage bios really is good, this overclock is far better than what I had reached with the Maximus Bios.. Q6600@4.5 Ghz with 4 Ram modules.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question or not.
But I have the Asus Maximus Formula. I was wondering if anyone here uses the Corsair cm2x2048-6400c5dhx memory with this board?
I bought this memory kit from buy.com. However both memory sticks appear defective. One stick won't even boot to the bios, the other will lock up soon as I start memtest.
Both sticks have the exact same problem in my amd board (Biostar). Yet one guy on the Corsair forums is trying to tell me its unlikely both sticks would be bad and that it must be my motherboard because its been discontinued.
This whole switch to an Intel setup is costing too much.
Now I don't know if I'm better off returning the ram for a refund, or having buy.com exchange it, or Corsair exchange it. Maybe the board is bad, I don't know, but personally I doubt it, seeing that it has the same problem on another totally different board.
This mobo is a limited edition. It has been discontinued from what I have heard. They were only manufacturing them for a certain time period.
Note: with the learning curve for this board I would have been happier sticking with my P35 Platinum MSI board (cheaper and almost as good), I was VERY happy with its over clocking and stability, but I got this ASUS free so I took it.
But on a good note, with all these good peeps in this community a lot of the guess work is done for any new owners of this board. Most new issues that come up now would probably be due to compatibility.
See if a friend will let you put that RAM into his mobo and test it, or take it to a local computer store. Also try a stick of another RAM in your mobo.
I think this board can be pretty picky with memory. Did you clear your cmos when installing this memory or was it the first sticks you put into it.
Maybe they need more than the default 1.8v the board boots with.
@Sources;
you didnt by chance have modified heat-spreaders on your ram modules did you ?
I did try it with another motherboard I own (AMD Biostar tforce 550) and it has the same problem with it. Both motherboards are on the Corsair "approved" list.
This ram came with a rebate, which I haven't sent yet. I would have probably purchased the Mushkin memory, but the Corsair was cheaper after rebate and on their approved list.
My 6600 G0 will booot 3.8/4ghz but simply will not become stable. Guess I will have to buy a 9450, and crank it out :)
Nope just had the OCZ ram cooler over them. When I first put the board system together though I had no cooler blowing on the RAM and I noticed they sure got hot, so I invested into the OCZ cooler with the dual fans. WOW what a difference, it kept them quite cool.
I will take some clear pictures of my system when I get home to show you an idea of how my setup is.
and post a link to them in my sig
Exactly what is it WR1 and WR2 ?
And / n / pbnc what does it do?
Does someone know what is contained in NVRAM?
I confirm that a vanilla P5E works perfectly with the rampage BIOS 219.
I can read now all the voltages in BIOS (NB, SB, RAM, etc.) that with P5E BIOS was not displayed. I guess my MB has all the voltage sensors of a formula mobo
My wife just got home with my new v/c HD 3870 X2 1GB
Now I need a waterblock for it, any opinions on this???
http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/produc...d2b390b801e3fc
the one most prefered....
ive never heard of a bad ek product...
what i dont understand about the back plates of full cover waterblocks... WHY ARE THEY SHINY?!?!?
i dare anybody to argue with me, but just painting it black will reduce temps as black radiates heat better than any other color. more heat radiated, less heat on the component. why do you think radiators are black? :p:
i can show you thermal images proving this point.
if it didnt void my warranty, i would have painted all the heat pipes and "fin pin" hoopla to black.
(yes i know modding to rampage voided my warranty, but how would anybody know if i just flash it back?)
Man, am I in the WaterCooling thread? This is starting to suck.... Not because WC'ing sux, but because this is not what the original thread was about. This is now about smoke and mirrors? PMs
Yeah, hop in the LC forum if you want to find answers about watercooling questions ;)
Easy peeps I just ask'd a question :sofa:
Didnt know it would create problems, thanks for the info tho guys :D
I just flashed my PE5 to the Rampage 0219 and it works!!!
Thank everybody at this thread
idk, it might be more than that. I fried 2 sets of the new revision on my board and the old Ballistix I had were just fine. My voltage never went over 2.1v
I think there is something with the new Ballistix revisions that lets this board kill them at even modest voltage.
hey Grn?
today i ordered the Corsair Dominator 8500's :yepp:
hell yeah. (thx for advice)
I can't seem to get anything stable past 425 FSB. It's stable in OCCT for at least 2.5 hours, but if I raise the FSB to 435, it becomes unstable and more volts don't help. Here are my current BIOS settings for my e8400:

Ok time for some of my findings with this mod (BIOS 0219).
Logitech mouse in the outmost USB port nearest the LAN - the BIOS hangs at USBINIT - moving the mouse to another USB port and it boots perfectly.
FSB 452 gives 448MHz, 551 gives 551, and 553 553MHz
Multiplier reverts back to std. when loading an OC profile, making the board unable to boot. Must select the correct lower multiplier after loading the OC Profile. This is only an issue when running lower multiplier than default.
NB temps are reported lower, doubt it's because the NB actually runs cooler..
CPU temps seems to be reported more realistic than on the 0907 MF BIOS - which gave me silly low temps. (like 9 deg at boot)
The board still overvolts like crazy on FSBTT, NB, RAM, and others.
Performance:
This BIOS IS slightly faster than the latest MF bios. With the same settings both read, copy and write were higher, but not by much - the latency however is about 1ns better.
Overclocking:
I have not been able to overclock more than with the MF BIOS, but this is probably due to my cpu more than the board.
With the MF bios I was able to run 500MHz FSB, with the RF bios I'm not even able to boot at 480MHz - major drawback..
Now I'm able to use all memory dividers - with the MF there were some dividers that wouldn't boot at all.
Software:
Windows do not need a reinstall - however Everest no longer detects NB voltage, SB voltage and vcore is reported wrong. (1.1 when actual 1.50)
But all in all - I think this will be a very good board with more matured RF BIOS's.
W00t! P5E just flashed successfully. Good work guys. I'll report my overclocking finds later.
Hey guys I've been away sorting GFX and lost track of this thread. What's considered the best BIOS for OC'ing now and can someone give me a hand OC'ing my E6750? Tried Renegade's original options fromt he start page my but my PC no likey. :(
I have had it up at 3.8Ghz but I'd like to try for 4Ghz if possible, if not then more stable settings for 3.8GHz (was just playing around with settings before - now my LC is here I hope I can get it set up nice n proper!)
