Are the eVGA card's really made with better components than other brands like XFX ?
I ask this because I'm going for a 7900GT and I'm between eVGA and XFX :

i think in this new Nvidia cards 7600GT and 7900GT/GTX the XFX are real good

i was with same question as you , and i ordered XFX 7900GT EXTREME , its cheaper than EVGA CO and have higher cloks ;)

i think buying CO models you have sure that the cards can do that cloks with no problems , just like in 7800 you have standard models that dont do same cloks like CO models
VGA card just like the ram...
some companies just purchases "nake cards" from other companies

its not like you think , if it was like that all cards overcloks the same , and its not like that.
but its also true that it is some CO models that dont Overclok much more that stok cloks and some standard models get higher cloks, but thats it is 1 more reason to buy a CO model , you have sure that you get that cloks , if you buy a standard model you can get a good card that cloks same or more that de CO model but you also can get a card that dont even cloks like CO model default cloks.
and i think also the memorys timings are not same in all companies
CO models are always a guarantee that you get that cloks , with no problems and with stokcooler
And based on how many cards? Okay some of those pre overclocked cards may have cherry picked gpu's but not all, so that would explain the better overclock ability.Quote:

Aparently there is two cards of same model with diferent part number , one is 520/1500 and other is 550/1630 but the shop where i ordered doesnt say in site the part number :(

Well I received an XFX 7900 GT XXX Edition on Friday. The Stock clocks are 560 MHz on the core and 1650 MHz on the memory. I was able to overclock the card to 570 MHz on the core, and 1800 MHz on the memory. I seem to be voltage limitted on the core because I was able to run 3DMark 03 at 600 MHz core without a single artifact untill the system rebooted. I managed to get thru test 1, but half way through test 2 the system rebooted. The memory on the card is 1.4ns by Samsung. Im looking forward to picking up a Zalman VF700-CU or a VF900-CU for this card. I am just waiting on someone to test a higher voltage on the core for the 7900 GT with an after market cooler. I did test that modified 7900GT bios that had 1.4 volts applied to the core and it didnt change my maximum overclock on the core or memory but I couldnt even start 3dmark03 without my system rebooting. Probably due to the cooling on the card. My idle temps rose from 44C to 52C with the 1.4 volts applied, aftermarket cooling is definately needed for more volts.

My overclocked model is about 1.3 times more powerfull than the stock clocked 7900 GT. I paid $359 for this GT vs a stock clocked GT which would have been $299. $299 times 1.3 = $389. Definately got my moneys worth I think. :banana:

The BFG 7900 GTX OC (670 x 1640) has a delta of 50 and must have tight memory timings when you compare with other "OC'ed" cards mem settings..1750, 1760, etc....Quote:
