i could explain the external-sata design issue,
why GIGABYTE use the extendted sata not use a "e-sata"

first, the sata goes from SB, if you pull it to i/o panel, it goes a long way
and the singal from internal pcb is not that clear, also will reduce singnal quality, and affect other componets ( from lab test max length from e-sata only 1.5M). and even you use a "e-sata" you need to prepare a "external-power cable" for your device, i can't see anything good here.( maybe it has good looking?)

and like GBT's way, sata goes from SB, then use a extension, the signal
is directly from SB and goes to extension sata, im sure the extension cable quality is very good,you can use 2M length sata connect to the extension still work well, also you have a power on the extension,:)

No big deal anyway, if it performs and is priced correctly (which is often the case here for Gigabyte mobos) i would consider buying it ;)

Yes, there are still people with IDE and pci devices, but, most mobo manufacturers release so many different models it woudn't really matter if atleast one of them would come without them.

To be clear about PWM section, it is 8+2 phases for CPU/IMC.

Power section is one of the strong points of GBT top end boards. My DQ6 uses same design and there is no way of any voltage fluctuation up to 1.88V!

Also if BIOS will be similar to what we have on DQ6 then max CPU vCore will be 2.05V :D

I believe he's refering to the i7 discussion on how having a ton of phases is essentially useless and not needed.

In truth it's not if your not overclocking and the power draw isn't immense.

Nice looking board but i would not get it .It needs more PCIe slots 2 just don't get the job done .For me 3 is the min. and 4 is better .

I can hazard a guess that it is a design for airflow coming from the cpu cooler (stock coolers exhaust radially around the socket area). Whether is is more effective than un-capped i'll leave that up to the designers.

Clear CMOS button on back is a bad idea IMO. Bump it, oh crap...
Maybe a jumper or something, my DFI 790FX-M2RS had that but it was flush with the IO shield so you couldn't really use it too easily anyway :rolleyes:

The PWM controller is a chip that supports 6 phases at max so there's no way this thing has 8 real CPU phases. Thus, it is actually 4 phases with parallel inductors per phase, it doesn't seem there would be doubled FETs per phase as I think the PWM area is too small.

These current "banana" mobos allow OC'ing Deneb way over 6GHz so I'm not sure what you're foaming about.

Every board in the last 15 year, since SDR-SDRAM became obsolete has had dedicated power supply for RAM.

Thats a nice looking board coming from GB! I wont miss looking at that damn orange any time soon.

Spark I have it on my asus, its inset a little has an even ridge that the button sits in, very hard to hit it by accident. Of course with the asus you hardly ever need it becasue if you get a failed OC it just loads defaults anyway on the next boot.....

Would be a nice addition, I'm just happy they added power and reset.

CLR Cmos jumper is still difficult to reach if there is some monster GFX card... One thing I hate in my DS4H.

Any update on pricing? Has anyone see it around in stores ?

The power/reset button placement seems bad to me... Looks like some stout hardware otherwise!
