Some peeps are so small minded they just post and don't even read the reviews... They got their minds made up by the hype around it... they prolly never payed 600 dollars for a GFX card out of their own pocket... sadly some will never see the light at the end of the tunnel...

Yeah, the naming scheme suggested it would be something faster maybe an new design, thats why people got mad and felt tricked by nvidia. But it doesnt mean that its not great for the price.

@Cegras : one of the reasons we make these bundled threads to gather all info and then to compare... it all depends on driver versions as not all cards are retested at the same time wit the same hardware... so there can be differences...
I look mostly at the Canucks, Bjorn 3D and Guru3D as they are pretty straightforward and give ya accurate and concise info... Some websites are so full of info that it is so hard to compare... HardOCP does it each time with maximum playble settings, I can dig that but the graphs are so confusing that in the end all the work they put into it, is mostly misunderstood by many...
Secondly look at some posts here, clearly indicating peeps don't read all the text or just base their opinion on something they heard or looked at in a flash...
Agreed, it's funny how many folks automatically say "It's just an OC GTS" LOL I suspect these are the same people that have been running GTS the last few months on their Dell XPS or Alienware whatever and don't understand all the differences because they are looking at reviews of a stock clocked 9800GTX vs thier GTS, GTX whatever...
The OC potential of this card is huge and will make quite an impact can't wait to get mine and play!
I paid $706 for one 8800GTX on november 10th of 2006 (just checked) so considering the 9800GTX is a small upgrade at sock clocks, even more OC'd, and you can get two of them for the price we were paying for one 8800GTX at the time of it's release, I think it's a pretty damn good buy.

Also, they used 2GB of DDR2 while I used 4GB of DDR3 which pays for itself in a Vista environment. Their CPU is operating 500Mhz slower than mine as well. IMO, all these things contribute to the HD3870X2 being able to stretch its legs with our setup quite a bit more.
While it's nice to see the X2 being able to prove itself, what this shows that indeed, in systems that bottleneck the GPU more, nvidia comes out through some bizarre mix of .. whatever they do. But then again, as more and more people slowly begin to migrate to larger bandwidth platforms like DDR3, and new architectures, perhaps we'll see what the effect of removing bottlenecks on the GPU is.

MMMI read today ( think it was on madshrimps) that Nvidia will make the X2 only for a shortperiod of time... max 3-4 months then it's EOL... but I cannot find that article anymore (maybe they had to pull it ) So Nvidia will do an Intel X38-48 story on us then... also noted in that article was that 8800GTS 512 will become 9800GT...( if I recall correctly )
