hmm this cooler looks amazing and name is Achilles, i need to get one asap :D
There's a coupon code for Newegg through HardForum that allows you to get the 1283 for $37 shipped through April 14th. Hopefully some information about the 1284's pricing (or a review?) will surface before then. :p:

For those cannot read Chinese, basically, no different between S1283 and S1284 with same 120mm fan for E8500 OC 4.0GHz @ 1.328v vcore .
yeah I would think so too, for that kind of vcore, not enough heat to let the 4pipes design shine.
Is this heatsink mounted with push pins or a backplate?
i think a bolt thru kit is available for 1283...anyway i'm not keen on pushpins  otherwise this could be nice if the price is kept low like the 1283
so far all the xigmatek's are pushpin mounted. the thermalright 775 bolt through kit works well as a replacement though.
well the bolt on kit is free right now if you contact Xigmatek after purchase their HSU, free shipping too =D
Thinking how can I get 1 more set in case I am buying the S1284....
Looks like mid-May is the new ETA :(
Where did you get that info?
Do you have a link to a anything that I could use to request it, vs just sending them an email and asking for a free bolt-on kit for my cooler?
Edit:
I found this, but it states in the post that it was only thru the end of Feb that you could get the free kit.

i was told they were still honoring this...
S1284 is not better than S1283, because the surface of the HSI on LGA775 CPU's can't cover the hole cooler surface. It covers 2,1/2 pipes, for example http://www.overclockers.ru/images/la...xk_thermob.jpg
That is not exactly the S1284 surface (D1284's), but the size is the same.
Cleaning that base is gonna be a nightmare!...the spaces between the heatpipes will get filled with TIM and it will be very difficult to remove later.
hmm i would tend to agree that seems like its pointless or more marketing imo..maybe we'll see more results but it seems like they should have maybe went to a slightly smaller diam heatpipe so they were fully covering the cpu better..
unless the 964 base is bigger than the 1284's i don't understand that picture. my 964 covers my Q6600's IHS 100%.
