The pushpins are fine if you like that style, i have to test the compatability with the backplate first, the red scorpion "appears" to be identical to the HDT version, with the exception of a quieter fan it seems, and the color/styling. The Kingwin for all intents and purposes, appears to be an identical match to the HDT with maybe a variation in the fan.
i see the heatpipes appear a different color on the red scorpion?? are they simply plated over the copper?? and do you in your honest opinion think either will be better than the other i mean rs vd non rs? thanks again for all your work
to also add: can i ask if you would take either the ultra or reg 120 over this or will it be a close call?? again in your own opinion?
Ultra 120 Extreme is the champ in all situations, regular 120 is old, it would fall somewhere in th emiddle of the scale. As far as the red scorpion bein better then the HDT, i cant say for sure but what i can say is it was designed to be beefier so only testing will tell. The only TRUE i have to compare against is lapped which i think is kinda unfair, so im only gona be using it as quick preliminary results.Quote:

This cooler is a much better deal VS the TRUE120 for the simple reason, its only 38$ at the egg and TRUE costs 60$ Without a fan. Also look at how close the performance is and it only has 3 heatpipes vs 6 in the TRUE 120. If you can deal with a rebate, the Kingwin version for 33$ before MIR and 24$ after. I would take a loss of a couple of C's in cooling to save 50%. Right now these Xigmatek coolers are fantastic value for $$$ both the 92mm and 120mm. An added bonus is they are pretty light as well. I hope other companies start using the DHT method. I guess only time will tell.
has anyone confirmed for sure the kingwin is the exact same thing?? the specs are exactly the same and they appear identical.. anyone see both that can confirm

woot is true that Red Scorpion is available =D I might pick it for my new set up.... one thing I don't like about kingwin is their fan, my friend has it, it looks rather cheap and noisy.
The Kingwin RVT-12025 & the Xigmatek HDT-12823 are indentical INCLUDING the fan. The ONLY difference is the badge sticker on the fan.Quote:

Xigmatek did not have a US distributer for the longest time. They are the OEM for Kingwin (RVT-9225, RVT-12025, RVT-12025D. At first, people would get together over the net, buy them in bulk, and have them sent to the US. Then FrozenCPU then started selling them in limited quantities at $40 a pop.
Then Kingwin started producing them late last year and started selling them in the US.
Now newegg is recently selling Xigmatek OEM (as well as their TIM).
Still cheaper to buy Kingwin for a couple dollars less. They also carry all 3 of the Xigmatek's (92mm, 120mm, 120mm "D"-version) styles.
I'm not sure that Kingwin will seel the "Red Scorpian" version as it looks like Xigmatek has found a US distributer now (at least from the looks of it).
they are OEM for OCZ's Vendetta i believe, or was it the Vindicator, i forget which.
Yeah they were, but the OCZ's Vendetta underperformed compared to Xigmatek's original 92mm fan design. It also cost as much as the 120mm original design.Quote:

I doubt Kingwin can produce themself because they are relatively small company. I am pretty sure either Xigmatek or someone is oem for them. Judging by the packaging, I think Xigmatek is the one oem for them, if thats not the case then it will be some low quality China factory is doing the production for them.Quote:
