exactly, and when these cards get released hopefully they wont get overpriced

they weren't creamed either... they were only slightly lower in FPS and about 1000-1200 marks in 3dmark 06. if i remember correctly, they got the same FPS and whatnot in crysis. so, if ATI actually puts out a decent driver for these cards they should smoke the 8800gt's. also, i've "heard," that the ATI's can OC better then the GT's but i dont' know that for sure.

youve all seen this image right?
the one that looks promising to me is 8x 16x bar for 3870 cf (12815!)....wot i want to know is will this translate over into uber game performance?.
As for any Futuremark stuff translating into "uber" gaming far from it.... only drivers will tell now how big of a success the 3870 is...although opening benches show it only slightly better than the 2900XT but its very promising none the less.
agreed chaos... that's why i was sure to post the one where the 3870 and the gt got the same frame rate in crysis.
Hey Crazypinoy9, whats up man? from what ive heard tomorow there will be the new drivers out for the 38xx cards, CC 8.0. run the crysis benchie on one card with those drivers please.
Not to mention, the rv670's image quality appears to better, apparently nvidia is supposedly kinda cheating with their latest benchmarks to get their fps higher by lowering the image quality
I can't comment since I don't either myself, but I've seen it posted on multiple occasions
i've seen the Radeon/GeForce screenshots, and there is no question that the IQ with the Radeons was dramatically better. Nvidia definitely tried to pull a fast one on us with rigged drivers.
as far as the Radeons getting creamed, i disagree. they definitely got beat, but i see a horse race in the near future. the next couple sets of drivers should help the dust settle a little. i also think the Radeons will have more overclocking headroom, so i'm hoping some of the uber geeks on this forum will put out a revised BIOS for those of us that don't know how to do that sort of thing :D
and then there is the issue of chipsets. like most people, i have an Intel chipset, so a pair of 3870's in CrossFire is my best hope for top of the line performance. i should be able to smoke a single 8800 GTX once i buy my new cards :D
I'm looking forward to buying one tomorrow. Wish I could afford 2 atm.
those nvidia drivers have been corrected i believe, hence the reason the frame rate is now the same between the two as is the IQ.
well a 2900XT gets about 55fps in FEAR 1920x1200 4xAA/16xAF
so even though that bench looks a little low for xfire it's probably not far away in reality, FEAR is still pretty demanding especially at that res and full filtering/sampling.
I got the new drivers yesterday and to be honest with you the results were the same. I don't have ss for it but I ran the crysis bench running both 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 at both very high and high settings with NO AA and it ran like crap. not only that but crysis kept crashing on me every once and a while. I was very dissappointed. **this was on two cards**
I tried running the full version single player and it was a nice slide show for me.
LOL! they ran better than my 2900XT's though! LOL!
Are you sure crossfire is working in Crysis?? There seems to be alot of driver issues with the newer games....
SLI hasn't shown any effect on Crysis either. i wonder if it's just because it's a demo. it wouldn't be too funny if the most demanding game ever made doesn't support multi-GPU setups
crysis game play sucks no matter what gfx card you're running imo. i don't know if it's sloppy code or what, but it's annoying. i'm not bothering to purchase it until i can max the crap out of it and actually have it look the way it should.
afaik, there is no sli support for crysis and i'm not sure about crossfire... but i'm going to go out on a limb and say no to that one too. this is pure speculation though.
thank for choosing fear as preview :D
good resolution choosing (pc is last @ hdtv)
very heavy game indeed i can imagine it looks astonishing @ hd1080
totally off topic, but i'm not sure why you guys are saying Crysis was coded poorly. it's probably the best looking game i've ever seen. of course you can't run it at max and get good frames. i think a lot of people are just angry because they spent a fortune on their PCs trying to get them ready for Crysis, only to find out they still can't max it.
set it on High or Medium and enjoy yourself. it will have a great replay value when people can go back a year later and play it with next generation's high end hardware.
you just spouted out the exact reason why we're annoyed... yeah, the graphics are great, but the coding (imo) is so poor that we can't even take advantage of those great graphics.
hey guess what, i just designed this awesome sports car that runs on a fuel that won't be designed for another year. so for now you guys can just look at it sitting in the garage... but damn, isn't it beautiful.
:ROTF:
i can't believe it.. i have been waiting and waiting, i knew they were coming out today and as soon as i got home from work they were all sold out at 219.00 dollars. i am kind of bummed out as i have never owned a pcie card or computer yet and now that i have one built sitting here waiting for x-fire i have to wait even longer..
what did you expect? the best graphics you've ever seen in a game that can run on a GeForce 8600? i played it on Medium settings and it was still gorgeous. they could simply remove the Very High settings from the options menu to make people feel better about their computers. then those people can brag to their friends that they can max Crysis  . i like that the game was designed to still look good in the future. we can all go back a year from now and still marvel at how good the graphics look. nobody could max F.E.A.R. at high resolution when it came out either.
back on topic. i've been following the status in the U.S. today. NCIX sold out of the 3870's pretty quick this morning. i believe i bought the last two on Newegg this evening (at $220 each - killer deal). they're all showing as backorders now. both websites appear to have plenty of 3850's, so there is no problem getting those.
hey silly, who said anything about an 8600? i think you're missing my point entirely.
oh, and let us know how you like the new cards!
