Even if ATI was first it seems for some that its justified this. Good so go on Nvidia, u can make drivers tweaks since ATI was the first to make it. Like saying Carl Lewis could dope himself since Ben Johnson was the fist to do it

That's why I stuck with 7.6, don't need any of the "improvements". I haven't had any BSOD's from installing a driver as I know what i'm doing perfectly well thank you.
One thing I learned about computers is 99% of the problems are caused the soft fleshy bit sitting in front of it. In this case the fleshy bit belongs to someone(maybe many) in front of other computers.
Either way we'll soon see if this is a genuine bug/mistake or a deliberate action. I'm hoping the former but the latter wouldn't shock me from ANY company.
cheaters cheaters pumpkin eaters
Two wrongs do not make a right.
If it IS cheating, you cannot justify this with "ATi did it first."
It could be cheating, or it could be a bug. Either way, it does not need all these wasted posts of people shouting "fanboy" etc.
On the driver issue, myself, I never bothered with the beta drivers, I just stuck with the latest "full" (for lack of a better word) drivers when I used an nV card. I believe nV "full" are released more or less as regularly as ATi drivers are anyway. If you don't like the hundreds of beta drivers avaliable, don't use them. :-\
Eh and I could do the same thing within the config files and tell it to update every 10 seconds or 1 hour.
Everything I've seen and people that I trust tell me that the 8800's are far better than ATI's R600's. I'll beable to make my own opinions on it soon enough though.
Oh snap, look at the windshield, more reflection problems from the nvidia drivers
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...sthandle/1.jpg
how could it be a bug when nvidia works so closely with Crytek?
please,this aint a bug,it's just cheating
about 7% on water reflections, some % on other reflections
if you would accumulate all those percentages, you maybe have 10%-15%
so it is cheating if you ask me
Cheating in a demo? Right.
Crytek don't write drivers, nVidia don't write full real time game engines - there will be some lack of understanding from both sides, added into the mix that communication isn't always perfect - it happens.
ATi had an optimisation for the F.E.A.R demo, but when the game was launched the optimisation didn't work and actually caused problems unless you renamed the EXE - which gained up to 30% performance.
All this is, is a news site making a mountain out of a mole hill and the fan boys are using it as a way of rubbing another name in the mud.
demo still uses same engine as final game i suppose??
looks like revision will be released.

Yes there are game-specific optimizations. Were you expecting different?
This time one of them went wrong, but it's hardly a fraudulent matter.
No, at MOST, it's 7%. That's in total, according to tests.
Since the 8800GT was already MUCH more than 7% faster than the fastest current ATI card in Crysis, there's not much logic in such a "cheat", is there? Don't be foolish.
Well, if you want to get technical nVidia's always been a bit blotchy on the level of detail (LOD) scale, even since the 3DFX days... Unreal, Quake 2, 3DMark99Max... and then there's 3DFX who couldnt even render 32bit, only 24 (or was it 22?) bit (well technically it was 32bit, but it got downsampled before being spit out of the frame buffer)...
Of course these days most of us just let the LOD thing go..
It's a bug plain and simple...
These kind of things commonly occur with both companies, it's just a matter of if a site takes the time to complain about it before it's fixed or not.
As for "cheats" both companies were VERY guilty of it during the FX/6800 days. For the most part those days are gone, and now all that remains is drivers bugs generally.
As for image quality by both companies, on a technical level NVidia's is better, that much is a fact. Which you prefer is a matter of personal opinion, but going by paper facts nvidia has better IQ this gen.
Out of curiosity what would have to be programmed wrong for this to happen?
Wouldnt it have to be a shader that is told to perform its function at x time interval being told to instead do it at y time interval.
I am skeptical, but thats because I have hard time believing this to be a bug.
Which is why I stick with Nvidia usually. See us Nvidia buyers are pretty nit picky. That way we keep Nvidia on their toes. Which in turn forces them to work harder and release better. Maybe the ATI guys should go on strike and hold signs in front an AMD building they havent sold yet! LOL jkjk
But anyway i do agree with you, too many people are too quick to call cheats on things!
Definitely doesn't look like a bug to me.
So I guess to you guys, the ATi lost planet bug didn't look like a bug either?
This is actually kind of similar to the Cat 3.8(I think it was 3.8) bug where specifically certain shadows would appear as squares(HIGHLY dropping the resolutions of only said shadows). That was a bug that only effected the 9800's after the X800's came out.
If that was a bug(there had to be a serious screw up for that to occur), dropping the shadows to around 1/4th of their resolution in 3dmark 03 GT3 and far cry, what makes you guys think this isn't a bug?
Remember the rule of programming, what fixes one thing generally breaks another.
Also, everyone take this as a warning. Any "fanboy" flaming from EITHER camp will not be tolerated. I'm trying to keep this thread open until we hear confirmed word of a resolution to the situation, so please don't make me close this thread. Any beyond my post WILL be dealt with accordingly.
Indicators suggest a new Nvidia driver (be it beta or otherwise). If EB does a follow up to to Crysis with the new drivers it will be interesting to see what the results show.
East, keep the original post updated with all new info if you wouldn't mind. We all know a lot of people won't take the time to read anything but the first post and then complain.
It'll save us mods a lot of headache.
