The green pcb on those reference board has some strange appeal.
LOL ... :slap:
Update with
- Preview link for MSI and Gigabyte RD790 board on first page...
- QuadFire instalation preview
- TriFire Demo on 3GHz Phenom
Ummm what's wrong with you people... let repeat for you too, slowly, so hopefully all of you (less-than-bleeding-edge) guys can grasp it (after reading and interpreting, of course): I DID WANT to post three separate, standalone posts.
Which part you cannot comprehend, seriously?
QuadFire beta test with Gigabyte RD790 board indicates it still have issues with Catalyst 7.8 ... they said it will be sorted up with a new driver later
OCworkbench didnt post the test benchmark screenshot... as they are not allowed (Pressure by AMD )

Still, the only FASN8 like boards are the new ones from Asus (somewhere ele posted) and the AMD model?
I love the AMD model, simple layout and no blingy bling.
IMO the MSi board looks like it has super-el-cheapo-nasty heatsinks on it.
The northbridge HS looks like a kids creation......a "lets make this unique shape" kindof idea.
The DFi looks sweet, very nice indeed :)
Shame all the boards are using the single IDE approach aswell. I know most AM2 boards are this way now, but not all. ASUS Nforce 4 AM2 boards have them......shame they didn't implement 2x on these boards since lots of people still require 2x IDE channels.
I mean they still include a bloomin' FLOPPY connector?????? :p:
Thats because the NF4 chipset still supported two IDE channels. None of the newer chipsets do, in fact the Intel chipsets don't even have support for one IDE channel, they all have third party chips on board to support IDE.
I for one miss the second IDE channel and wonder what the point is in getting rid of it, not like that extra connector cost them anything.
yes i agree, like I say, they haven't dropped the floppy connector, so what gave them the idea people are phasing out their IDE drives?
A tad premature considering the amount of IDE devices still in use.
Which are there more of.....users of a floppy drive on a BRAND NEW enthusiast board.....or users with 3x or 4x IDE devices?
Yeah, I always look for 2 IDE connectors for general use. Not sure why they want to instantly move over to strictly SATA.
So i'm the only one that wishes IDE good riddance? Its a cabling nightmare and the sooner it dies the better.

omg not true native quadfire lol!!1!
4 seperate cards on a single mobo platform...........sounds NATIVE to me.
It's not like they're runnin' 2x 7950's and calling it QUAD-FIRE.....I don't think AMD lie about their tech like that OTHER company ;) :p: :D
2x DUAL-CORE = QUAD-CORE..............not
There are many people with IDE HDD's or CD/DVD-RW's which would still like 2x IDE connectors. You guys may prefer not to have them, but you can simply opt to not use them.....no biggie.
WE....however CANNOT use them without buying additional hardware......and that sux.
They've left the floppy connector.............you know......that cabling nightmare?
I once used a floppy to flash a bios..........in like 1997 ffs.
I don't need nor use one.......and I'm bloody sure a lot more guys use 2x IDE's rather than a floppy.....but they LEAVE floppy and remove an IDE, leaving just one:confused:
