That was to do with PCI-E actually.
man these cards are cool. but i think they made the mistake they made on the x1800xl they didnt clock them higher stock. iono the logic behind this im sure they all can overclock mad why not just make them slightly higher. then again thats what the XTX is for.
well the power consumption would be through the roof if they were clocked any higher. it would be at levels unacceptable for a normal consumer product its already pushing it as it is.
also this is no problem for overclockers because we have huge psus and cooling and dont mind setting the clocks in the proper place and our nice 300+ watt while overclocked card humms along ...
Hmmmm.......Compared to an XFX 8800 Ultra overclocked on air with the default heatsink.... :(

whats momo's cpu and oc?
it would be nice to see some tests using the same test bed with max oced 8800gtx vs max oced x2900xt both on stock air
well i think this is how it goes: HD2900XT OC better on LN2 ... 8800's OC better on default cooler ... and ATI is better at 05, while nv is better at 06... seems that way to me. Kinc waas able to get 3dmark 05 single card WR with 2900XT which was 30k points i think... and i dont see kinping post any more result from that 8800Ultra... i guess that 30,000 will be the single card 3dmark05 WR for a while
hi guys

Can do some game benches?
The 8.38 driver is in the driver section.
mascaras which driver was used? and what about max temperature in stock freqs. in 3D load?
Seconded:

Yesterday, 8.37 was here, and file was called 47097. Today we have different filename, 47096.
well i don't know about the ati site, but it's in the driver section of this forum ( i posted), but will check out the ati site now.
edit: it's not on the ati site, the xp driver is 47096 and vista is 47097, the same as yesterday, so now it's only in the driver section of THIS forum.

isnt that 8.38 beta drivers that had a lot of bugs and ATi removed ???
i tryed install and say cannot find any compatible hardware ???

you guys do realise that it has been said several times from several sources that 3dmark scores mean absolutely JACK SH|T for real gaming performance on this 2900 XT.
its 3dmark scores are way higher than what it can do in real gaming.
in other words,,, it looks good on paper,,,,
but the card is still no slouch.
You might be able to try the 8.38 RC2 drivers

I got some 3dMark number also, both cards in stock cooling (with no additional fans kunaak xD ):
QX6700 @ 3.4Ghz. 160.03 for Nvidia and 8.37.4.2 for ATI
Asus 8800 Ultra @ 674/2324
3DMARK 2003: 45643
3DMARK 2005: 19369 (sorry, this was at 612/2160)
3DMARK 2006: 14585
Asus 2900XT @ 835/1924
3DMARK 2003: 41862

i got a 400 point increase from going for cd drivers to the ones on amd's website
also here is 05 score
cpu @ 4.4g
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i5...67890/VM05.jpg
one more thing is 06 i can pass sm3 tests @ 880/1080 but the 2nd sm2 test crashes :( also that was not max on 05 just started
also i modified the heat sink which gave no increase in scores or o/c
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i5...0/IMG_7690.jpg
2 big fans stuck on :) just droped the temps about 20c load and about 25 idle
I'm curious, with those two 120mm fans on there, did you just leave the heatsink on the card? I see something red behind the fans and it looks like its the old intake to the stock fan?
yes i left the stock heatsink just added some fans :)
i'm using Corsair HX 520w and it's no problem to run the card..eventhough i can't access the overdrive in the control center dunno why
link..
you need the 8 pin connector to access overdrive control panel
