control is comfusing and kinda sucks
through i did run it pretty good on a 3.4gh e6300 and 7900gs [no overclock]
Is the game long?
Also, will it continue to be free indefinitely?
Looks like a prime candidate for sticky...free game so close to r600 launch :p Would love to see how this plays on an R600 :)
Perkam
Yup. I actually own a phsyx card so was thinking about the 2900XT to go along with it as well for this game. I just hope Monday shows some favorable results for the 2900.
In all of this I haven't seen anyone report on how the physics are with and without the card? On the levels playable without the PhysX card, does having the card actually improve how the physics are handled at all?
Well i've been playing it without a physx card and the game has way less boxes and stuff laying around than the same levels have in trailers I've seen.
But i'm pretty sure someone will succeed in nlocking all level's and physX shizzle without a PhysX card.. don't know what performance will be like though..
BTW. as i said, i was playing without a PhysX card. And it seems that even without one the game still features Cloth effects :D
It's no assumption on this one perkam... A few google searches will tell you the same.
Just read the performance article I posted earlier in this thread...10-12fps on a xe6800 without physx card, while having playable framerates with the same rig adding in the physx card.
The game is pretty much just a marketing tool for ageia.
yup wiht 8800GTS on Vista x64 ... i get really crappy fps on some map ... when i watch where a;l; the heavy phsyics takes palce it just gets extremely slow ... 2 to 3fps .. if i look away from it , i get 60+fps ....
it was that circular map with 4 huge sticks on all 4 sides of the map ...
PhysX isa good idea .. i mean with all that stuff/boxes to blow away is fun, but the implementation needs improvement ... not many games that uses it , and those do use it, dont have THAT amazing physics compare to otehr games without it...
Yes,why not, this is valid for Nvidia too but only if they will invest in a project like this if not it won't happen anytime soon because as a developer you need to have acces to their technology and if you don't have a big budget or a big publisher you need some money invested in the project that is if you want to succeed...
wouldn't it be be possible to use crossfire physics or the build in nVidia quantum engine to render the cellfactor physics if you could emulate a PhysX card? like the game "thinks" that there is a ageia card doing all the calculations but that its actually done by a secondary ati card or nvidia quantum engine :slobber:
A dedicated physics card on a game like this is over kill, but if racing game developers start using it, then I might consider it.
Hmm maybe but not so sure since they are quite diffrent,Ageia approaches another way of PhysX diffrent from what Nvidia and ATi are doing,if I am not mistaken for Nvidia Physix you need Havok:confused:
Anyway the solutions for PhysX are present from both ATi and Nvidia how well do they do no one really knows for sure, ATi was bragging that their PhysX solutuion is better than Ageia but since there are no games to take advantadge of both solutions....
why dont they just put out some drivers so we can buy a regular card to be used as a physics card and then if more ppl have them, we might start seeing more games with physics.
O and btw im getting a steady 700kb/s download rate:p:
O one quick question, how do you turn AA on in the game?, i dont see an option for it
Edit: This is what they call optimzed?
Optimized my ASS. those beta that were leaked and left out for ppl to grab and use WITHOUT physX cards where a LOT better than this crap...i think is their last attempt to sell that crap card...physx...yeah right.
crap. Waiting the game to be hack as proof-of-concept that CPU/GPGPU can handle the physic just fine. Sorry Ageia you don't get my money.
anyone notice how much ram this friggin game use? uses like 1.1g of my memory (without physX).. lags my system :S
i have 2gb :S
it uses like 1.1g or more of that
wait, so without a physix card you get 10fps or lower?
but even with physix card the game drops to 15fps according to the pcper review... lame... how can we reduce the physics settings to a level that its playable without physix card?
I have no idea why that review shows steady 10 fps lockdown. I'm getting 38-72 fps with an average around 55 fps and low of 15 fps. It's shouldnt be a problem if have a decent dual core and graphic card. The only limitation is 2 maps out of 5 if you dont have a physx card.
