Awwww I was thinking of a mounting plate like that!
Anyways, that acrylic looks sorta cloudy...what happened to it?

I have been trying to get hold of some 3mm stainless steel rod
now for the best part of two weeks so i can finally mount this

mate came through and secured me a meter of stainless steel
threaded rod wooohooo
I have cut the rod to size, drilled and tapped 4 aluminum
thumbscrews (as used on pc cases available in packets
10 for $AU10) The rod length may have to be 'trimmed'
down slightly will see when fitting.
(I have taken the pics in macro mode just for
you pete as i remembered you asked :-) )

Just waiting on breakfast then I shall mount the sucker
and AT LAST get some results!! Back in a couple hours
fellas.
looks absolutely great. now quit teasing and put it to work :):)
I've had somewhat same kind of designs in my head for a long time... all_copper_10_into_1 -way... I'll say this is far more sexy block
Great work AussieJester !! :toast: Heat distribution should be quite optimal :p:
Wow, that block looks so sweet. How about a little bundy rum instead? :-P
LOL sorry fellas here ya go-->
Slightly delayed i totally forgot the Australian Formula 1 Grand
Prix started yesterday so have spent ALOT of time perched on
the lounge in front of the big screen watching :-)
I ducked out in the arvo after the coverage finished and fitted
the block up-->

YES...it's your standard re-enforced garden hose and NO i wont
be replacing it with Tygon before someone starts up about it,
I am not concerned about the looks of this particular case it is
a 'intrim case' while I finish modding my current case/project.
I have spied some nice shiny 7/16 black hose in a catalog my
Hydraulic fittings supplier gave me that i think I'll try out on that :-)
For now though, the garden hose with it's 100% UV resistance &
guarantee for 10 years, not to mention not one cable tie or clamp
required ! shall do for now ;-)
Here's how she performs-->

Ambient temp is now 21.2 (aircon roarin LoL)
Standard E6600 settings (2400mhz) idle temps 33 load
temps 38!!
Yesterday I tried mounting the block without any thermal compound,
temps were around 3 degrees higher across the board on idle and
~5-6 under load.
Will snatch a few screenies with cpuid coretemp Prime95
and SuperPI all running later this arvo to add to the post
atm though it is back to the lounge to watch the Australian
Grand Prix GO WEBBER...
duuude that garden hose is awesome! Great work on the block also!
peace
Pump is Swiftech MCP655 GPU waterblock is custom made by myself (gpu never goes above 42 degres running ATi1800GT0 presently) as is the evap cooling tower, all of which have been posted in past on XTremeSystems forums if you want to have a little search about for them if your interested in seeing them :-)
Previously had a DangerDen RBX775 based block (custom plexi top) temps @ idle
were ~ the same as the 'AJ8' block however the load temps of the DanderDen block were 5-6 degrees higher than the 'AJ8' So yeah it has been very successful little venture hehe :-) I think when i drop the vcore down a little i will shave a few degrees off temps again also, currently running 1.41 knowing
full well this particular cpu runs 3.50ghz @ 1.35VCore (was rushed this morning as mentioned early i will do some screen shots with appz running after grand Prix coverage and edit my previous post :-)
Cheers for the interest and comments matey :-)
HAHA cheers, it looks nice in person it's actually black with silver reinforcing

Ambient temp is now 21.2 (aircon roarin LoL)
Standard E6600 settings (2400mhz) idle temps 33 load
temps 38!!<--(these temps taken when ambient was 26 degrees
earlier today)
As suspect dropping VCore to 1.35 from 1.41 LoL reduced the temps ALOT hehe ;-P
Back with my next lil project in the not to distant future, thanyou all for the suport
and encouraging messages...
:-)
Yeah very happy with it, outperforms the DangerDen based RBX
quite convincingly, no radiator in use I use evap cooling tower
(Bong Tower) Water temp remains pretty constant on 27-28
degrees idle and load. I dont find that the cooling tower
produces any special performance when cpu is not getting worked, as
soon as some heat starts getting produced the towers come into their own IMO.
AussieJ that is truely exceptional work. Hats off to you for the patience and skill required for such work.
Ever think of being a machinist???
Ply
wow nice work. that hose is great looking too
Wow... just wow...
I can not believe you did that with a dremel and a drill press...
BTW is there somewhere online that you can get good quality cutting tools for dremels that can cut copper and aluminum? I have been doing a lot of mods with lian li cases and 3/16 aluminum plates recently and all I can find are tungsten carbide discs and stones... locally anyway.
But yeah... wow... That is amazing. Can't say I would buy your block but I still know craftsmanship when I see it.
BTW Nice MX5000 keyboard mouse combo there :P are you plagued by hordes of lag and disconnect issues as well?
I want to know how on earth you get such precise cuts with a dremel? And how you got the shape of the acrylic so uniform? I mean your stuff looks like it was done on a computerized mill.
Thanks mate ;-) And no I never have thought of being a machinist I have however had some time on lathes and mills in previous years and if I ever get some cash together will get myself a small mill for my home workshop :-) I'm on a permanant disability pension so money is rather tight most of the time unfortunately.Quote:

I buy all my reinforced cuttoff disks from eBay couple of local sellers have 25 disks for 5 bucks EXCELLENT value.
OH...and the MX5000 has never missed a beat since i popped the usb dongle on a lead away from back of pc and updated the Logitech software...actual ATM using standard Vista drivers...works a treat, I often sit on my lounge with keyboard and mouse and game on ly 109cm screen so i needed the BlueTooth capability.
As mentioned above practice LoL...I also do pre-drill the block with small drill bit to the desired depth (4mm in this case) and then simplyQuote:
