We need more info regarding what ICs used and OCQuote:

Is that overkill, is it too much money to spend on RAM?
The new system is e6600 Core2Duo, with Asus Striker Extreme Motherboard, and a Silverstone 850zf PSU.
how about this:
GeIL value 1Ghz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16820144026?
and these
super talent 4-4-3-8 ddr2-800 2x1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16820609026?
are these D9GMH?
p.s.:I don't have a camera handy, so you'll have to take my word for it, but when i bought them back in novemeber, the mushkin eXtreme preformance ddr2-800 @4-4-3-10 2x1GB were D9GMH. I removed the heat spreader from a stick i fried...
p.p.s: whats with this crazy price inflation? when i bought them, the were <300$. now, they're 356$ @ the egg (cries, because they overclocked well without any volts, and are now too expensive to replace...) WTF!!??
The PC8000 platinum is not overkill you have just paid a premium for a good brand nameQuote:

This memory changed ICs three times so far so the old ones with silver heatspreaders are D9GKX but the new ones with blue heatspreaders either D9GMH or promos (the new ones of course has to be promos ) any way you can find good read hereQuote:

Sure I can take your word for that but I didn’t include the mushkin because overclocking was not good with respect to the price, or at least that is my opinion (PS. I can’t see a reason to buy that memory right know)Quote:

Concerning the prices due to high demand (Christmas, Core 2 release, AM2 release) so we expect price relaxation in February
Well if you had your choice kemo6600 would you have chosen the striker or the new DFI R600 board that just came out? Seeing as I'm probably going to only do single vid card configuration SLI vs Crossfire doesn't matter much to me and even if I do decide to do dual cards...I'll just go with 2 that whatever my motherboard can handle all be it ATI or NVIDIA as I'm sure both solutions will get plent of frames for my 1680x1050 monitor... So as far as stability, performance, and extras...which board would you probably prefer? This question is open to everyone as well... I could send the striker back and get the new DFI R600 board just need some opinions...
First please don’t run and make decision based on a guy opinion in the forum (or at least have some self confidence)Quote:

Now to the point
I will try to make this as clear as possible the Striker is a very nice mobo but a tad pricey so now you got two options either to keep it (use it till next upgrade pattern or sell it in 2 months) or sell it and by selling you may lose 15% restocking fee (or something like that depends on from where you bought) in that case you can buy a mobo to run your rig for 2 months then sell it when you deiced what mobo you want (you will sell it for 20$/50$ lower) or sit with no rig for two months and that is very bad
So options to go with right know (if you want something for 2months) either regular 680i perhaps from Asus or Asus P5B-Deluxe (both are good overclocker+ can be sold easily)
Options will be available in January/February (range 250$-300$ based on expectations)
DFI 680i
DFI RD600
Asus commando (P965)
Any way you want go wrong with any choice it is all about your money
And please keep the mobo discussion out of the memory thread so if you want something else either send me a private message or create a new thread in Intel info and support or in general hardware
thanks for the update and bump.
kind of disappointed about the super talents.
still trying to figure out what production week they changed from micron d9's to promos.... i have a week 31 and they act like d9's but others with week 40+'s can't o/c as high as mine can...
anyway thanks again!
You’re welcomeQuote:

+ add the Geil value PC8000 Cas 5 is not D9 (as far as I know) it can’t do DDR1000 Cas4 with 2.4V so that is a good memory on Stock that is why I won’t include it
some n00bish questions:
1)is there any big difference between RAM with similar chips (D9GMH, for example) with different PCB (6/8 layer) using low volts (let's say 2.4V) ?
2)which PCB (6/8 layer) is used on nonAnniversary Ballistix DDR2 ?
Advice:
may be we should add the sort of PCB to the RAMlist whenever it gets fixed?
i'm sure i'm wrong by saying this but isn't cellshock the only one that advertises 8 layer pcb...
my guess would be everyone else uses 6?
and would 2.4 really be considered that low? i thought 1.8-2.1 is low

1) 2.4V aint low so it makes a difference (slight of course)Quote:

As far as I know memory with 8 layers PCBQuote:

And yes 2.4V is high
I don’t thinks so they did not advertise such thingQuote:

D9GMH based RAM is good for overclock :)
thanks!
nothing to laugh at..
How does this ram look?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144034
It's garanteed 1066Mhz and Working Voltage: 2.4~2.5V. Sounds like D9GMH? anyone ever tried this?
Thanks
The list says D9GCT but I don’t know any body try it yet + but any way Geil GCT was performing very nice lately but rated at high voltage and that makes me fell suspiciousQuote:

Make suspicious that those kits are not well tested so for simplicity they provide higher Voltage rating any way they might be rated @2.5V for AMD enhanced parameter PC9600 at that caseQuote:

J-Max said that the DDR1160 Cas4 part uses GCT so it is unlikely to find GMH besides r00n list says GCT
What IC`s is in this memory, D9GMH/GKX ?
Anybody knows ?
I have been told that they use GMH but I am not sureQuote:
