Great work Felix, thanks so much!!
Hi Felix..thanx for this nice prog...
Just one question: what the difference between "Write to Read Delay" and "Write-Read Turnaround clocks" settings?
I come from A64 where we have only Twtr and "Read-Write Turnaround clocks",
so i really don't understand this "Write-Read Turnaround clocks" setting.
Thank you.
Gonna put this to use right away! Thanks a bunch M8.Quote:

The version 2.2 (beta) is an instant freeze of the system on my dell xps m1710 laptop.
(micron ddr2 667mhz 5-5-5-15, intel 945pm chipset)
If I change it to 4-4-4-12 its a freeze. (might be a to big change)
Whenever I change one value its a freeze.
Both channels get the same value.
Might be that the ram cant handle any changes but if it might be a user error plz tell me :)
Anyone else tryed this on his m1710
...is the version 2.1 work fine on your laptop?
I send you a pm.
Attachment 50299
I have P5B Deluxe Wifi, just a quick question about the red circled box, is that a correct value ? Ask this because CPUZ is reporting Rev. C1.
Anyway, thank you very much for your effort developing this tool !
Yes i am still having the same error. After exit and re-open, the values in the box gone.... CPU-Z bug :(
->bing:I don't know if your stepping is C1 or C2,but I modified the reading,
try with this version:
MemSet22beta.zip
Has anyone had any luck getting this to work with Windows x64?
Hi Felix,
Thanks, its now showing C1.
Actually I was curious since P965 stepping C2 supposed to be release to manucfacturer by this Sept. :p:
But it is clear now, and again just guessing that your update was referring to this page below right ?
Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family Specification Update
For the Intel® 82Q965, 82Q963, 82G965 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)and Intel® 82P965 Memory Controller Hub (MCH)
Again, thank you so much ! Great Work you've done there ! :worship:
...before the update I was referring to this datasheet too,
but I made the reading on bit[0] offset E4,whereas it's bit[3] :D
are you having problems with Gigabyte DS4?
Hi Felix,
My motherboard is 915G with ddr2 533 4-4-4-12, i can modify all main parameter except CL --- the most important parameter (now i working at 4-3-2-4), i have tried all version of memset but none of them can change CL. i'm very confident that my ddr2 can work at CL3, pls help me.
Tks & B.rgds
Do these settings appear right for standard 5-5-5-15? The 42T for tRFC seems a big high or is that usual?
CAS# Latency (CL) - 5T
RAS# to CAS# (tRCD) - 5T
RAS# Precharge (tRP) - 5T
Cycle Time (tRAS) - 15T
Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) -42T
RAS to RAS Delay (tRRD) - 3T
Read to Write Delay (tRTW) - 8T
Write to Read Delay (tWTR) - 5T
Weonline-> it's seem that it's practically impossible to changing Cas# with DDR2,
and I don't know Why...
Therat-> 42T is a normal value for 5.5.5.15 timings.
great. thanksQuote:

I get this same exact error with my setup if i try to set timings tighter then 4449 on my 2x1GB G.skill HZ. My computer runs fine, but for some reason i can't get tighter then 4449Quote:

Hi Felix, thank you for what seems an interesting program. However I went to install it, into its own directory and thus folder and I get this message saying
"The driver TVicport can not be found"
Others seem to be able to get it running, but I don't know what is up with this.
My motherboard is the one in my signature. :)
FELIX you have a PM. That version fixed my bug.
Wierd thing is if i set 4444 via bios CPUZ still reads 4449. Any idea what is causing that? Is my RAM really running 4444 or is the DS3 somehow not applying these changes correctly?
Run the install inf file. ;)Quote:

Hello FELIX:
Thank you for create this tool:) It's So useful tool.
But, It can't work in my ASUS A3 notebook PC 915GM board.
When I change the CAS, the windows crash.
I try to change the value of CAS up or down, the windows always crash.
So the result is the value marked by red can not be changed.(Cause windows crash)
The other values can be changed.(work normally).
I have attached the picture below:
I have tested it in another notbook PC of ASUS A6, the case is same:(
Could have a look with it, Thanks a lot!
FELIX
I don't know is memset support 915PM/GM or not?
Could you add it or fixed it ?
BTW
I found the datasheet of the Mobile 915PM/GM/GMS here.
http://developer.intel.ru/download/d...s/30526401.pdf
May be it can help you a bit.
READ the ReadMe file.Quote:

I'm getting that same weird reading error on my DS3. I happens randomly (not all the time) I have memory set to 5-5-5-15 in BIOS, everything else on Auto at 300FSB 1:1 ratio (ie: only DDR2 600 for my DDR2 667 ram)
http://www.crowdcontrolusa.com/overclock/cas=wtf.jpg
Any IDEAS? Is this a stability related problem? Or just a reading error?
I dont have any problem with this app on my MSI 915G combo.
Also no problem with CPU-z used with the very same time.
CPU-Z update his repport 1 second after the change.
Runs like a charm, thanks.

Here is a new beta version:
MemSet22beta2
-Add support for A64(ddr&ddr2)
-Add some highers value in each combos on 965 chipsets.
-add a box "Lock mchbar when close" on 965 chipsets.
Normal operation is:Unlock mchbar(where are timings registers)->
Read,and eventualy write values->Lock mchbar when close the application;
but some 965 motherboards don't accept a second accesin mchbar,
it's why memset read [-7.7.7.-.-.63.-.-.-...] and cpu-z 10.15.15.31.
Then i add a box "Lock mchbar when close" on 965 chipsets.
This box is checked by defaut, uncheck it if you have this problem.
If you are sure you finished to use memset and cpu-z,
advise to check again for Lock mchbar.

I asked FELIX for that. He told me the CAS of DDR2 can't be changed:(
...on some motherboards,not all.
Not necessary to install/uninstall driver with this version:
MemSet.zip
Gonna give it a try on P5B-Dlx...
Thanks, Felix.
guys if you had read the thread instead of going right to the last page you would have seen Felix said exactly why it gives the wierd readings and how NOT to let it do that.
Thx FELIX for solving my issue :D, new beta release works fine with my M6VA laptop, thx a lot
Hi Felix, Memset doesnt work for me on x64.
Could you fix it?
Regards
Felix thanks for a great piece of software, can you please advice the tightest timings or at least the place where I can learn in for my 2x 1024MB Corsair Twin2X2048-6400. Currently running with my 805D (200x20) 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 2.1V on Asus P5B mobo. cheers. Zhenya
Can someone explain to someone retarded like me how to set these timings? I do it, and no matter what, I can't get tehm to stick after startup...
New version still crash the system on my ASUS A3(915PM):(
@ FELIX,
Hi! I would like to report couple bugs I found, while playing around with on ASUS P5B Deluxe (Intel 965P) and your latest beta Memset:
- amount of memory incorrectly reported as 2048MB instead of 4096MB --> screenshot,
- memory ratio incorrectly reported as DDR2-666 (4:5) instead of DDR2-889 (3:5) --> screenshot,
Thanks :toast:
Hi Felix
I have a P5B Dlx and d/l the latest Memset Beta 2.2
My problem ?
The Memset window/program does not fully display - I try to re-size it so that I can see all the settings, but no go.
I have a *lot* of my XP Services DISABLED to maximize machine efficency.
I'm wonderingthen does Memset require certain XP SERVICES to be running in order to properly display ?
I am running XP SP2.
Thx,
Ben
...have you tried with all service enabled?
I never had this problem until now...
Hi Felix
Any particular or key Services you would suugest ? SO I dont have to re-enable all of them to find just one [ if that is the problem ? ]
Many thx,
Ben
What is your screen resolution?
1600 x 1200 - tried 1280 x 1024 and still no go
Ben
I updated MemSet for 3.0 version:
MemSet3.0.zip
If I resume changes between 2.1:
-add support for Intel 965 ,AMD A64 ddr&ddr2;
-not necessary to install/uninstall driver;
-Save function was simplified.
-finally all the code was changed... :)
Felix, thank you ! :)
Very nice works great.
Very nice works great.
Deos memset works on x64 ?
I`m trying to get Read Delay 7, but no go :(
No, MemSet isn't x64 compatible yet :(
I'm waiting for x64 support too since it's my main OS
odd. I can run 4-4-4-5 at 450Mhz with those sticks with 2.1v on the P5B DQuote:

Thanx for this..
Been needin this for a while..
Anyone else having problems after opening it once, closing it, then trying to open it again? Most of the values appear blank, and the few that do are incorrect. Rebooting fixes it, but...eh.
P5B-D with 0614.
Close it by clicking the [X] window's button the upper right corner of the Memset program instead of [Exit] button.
Edit: Nevermind, I quickly scanned through all the pages and found out why it's like this.
Edit2: And it's also in the readme! Doh!
Yeah I'm having the same problem.Quote:

It was working for a minute and after I set the wrong timing the computer crashed. Restarted and now its telling me "The driver TVicPort can not be found"
I"ve tried the original folder and redl'ed with same error, took it out of startup and same problem. no install file or inf as I can see in version 3.0 which is all I have. any tips?
Ummm...how do u use it...i have a e6600, bad axe, and 1gb corsair 675
Hi Felix - 2 things / bugs re: Memset I have found
Firstly (a) when a user changes the Display DPI Setting from the Normal 96 DPI to anything else, Memset does not adjust its display accordingly - just pick CUSTOM and slide to a DPI setting of say 120 or 130 or higher and you'll see what I mean.
Secondly (b) when I set Memset and re-boot it works fine *but* CPUz will not display memory timings anymore *and* Memset cannot be opened.
Hope the above feedback is of help.
Regardless, you are to be hugely commended for providing such a useful program !!!!!
Great stuff Felix !
Ben
version 3.0 works with asus p5b deluxe?
Yes it does
Great, on my 865 chipset looks some different the window in graphic aspect, put the functions looks the sames on older versions.
tryed it but i wont work properly :(Quote:

Here is a little soft which allow you to access mchbar:
MchbarEdit.zip
It's work on 865/875 and 9xx chipsets.
You can read and write with it,and save the reading in a text.
(see datasheet before use :) )
As always, many thanks for the efforts Felix ! :worship:
Wanted to thank you for your hard work on a sweet program FELIX http://www.puretna.com/pic/smilies/thankyou.gif
Hi Felix,
Why does this happen? I cannot stretch it or anything.
Thanks, michael (P5B Dlx)
change you theme or text. MS-San serif (or what ever the default is called) should fix the issue.
And crop that 'kin image to a sensible size :slapass:
I'll fix that in the afternoon.
Felix, what is the best way to use this nice program?
trial and error for each timing??
thx.
Because MemSet use different windows size (according to chipset),
You must use normal size (96ppp) to use this software;
if you want to change it:
Office->Right click->Property->Parameters->Advanced->General:
Choose 'normale size'.
Sorry for this disadvantage...
No problem, really appreciate the effort and time you have dedicated to this.
Thanks again!
crap, Me too. :( :( :(Quote:

Sometimes RAM latency is very useful, eg. if you have onboard VGA (laptop) that use RAM modules as its video memory it helps your performance a lot (more than a lot :p:). It also helps to hypermemory/turbocache with nononboard card - like my laptop's x700.Quote:
