those boards are all already sold!
read the thread, i ordered them for members of this forum, im not selling them :) im just hooking them up with a local shop who had some of the last stock of theese boards :D
there are some p4gd1 boards left in communist errr dictator controller errrr free russia :D
those are the very last stock worlwide it seems...
but corruption seems to be still a major issue so you have to pay the right people so the boards dont get "lost" when shipped outisde of russia, wich is a few hundret bugs appearently :/
will see if i can find something... i know 2 people who travel from moskau to germany ever couple of months, one of them is a professor with a geek son hehehe
hes been bringing hardware with him to russia a couple of times already, ill ask him if he can help me :)
ive got some good news and some bad news :D
bad news, shipping the 11 boards to cirthix is more complicated than we thougt.
11 boards are around 17Kilos, a box between 10 and 20 kilos to the us costs 60€. thats the price we calculated with. BUT it turns out that this is shipping via ship! wich means it would take some weeks :/
to make it go via airmail it would cost another 64€ extra, so 124€ for shipping those 11 boards. thats around 8$ more shipping for each board...
now i checked the weight and the boards alone actually only weight around 700gr each, so thats 8 kilso for just the boards... this means i could put all the boards wrapped in this air-bag foil and put them in one box and itll most likely be eblow 10kg.
10kg to the us costs 30€ and 67€ via airmail... so that would be the same shipping cost cirthix and me already calculated with, BUT you wouldnt get the cables and manual and wouldnt get the original asus mainboard box either...
i can probably send a few cables in case somebody really needs them, but overall almost everybody would have to agree that they get no cables/manual/asus mobo box.
if 10 or 9 people say its ok, then i will send the boards without cables manual and asus mobo box, wich would mean no extra shipping.
if more than 1-2 people want the cables etc, then itll be around 8$ extra shipping for each mainboard.
to keep this simple, if you dont care about the cables etc, then dont do anything, if you would rather want the cables manual mobo box, then please pm cirthix about this.
that way we can quickly check if there are more than 2 people who would prefer the cables :)
to make this decision as easy as possible for you i made pics of what we are actually talking about here:
4 sata cables, 2 pata cables, one floppy cable, one (heavy :D) manual, one cd, one case sticker (ill send you the sticker either way :D) one printer port thing and one usb/firewire/game port blade thing... :D
http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/3...00693rr.th.jpg http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/2...00706hm.th.jpg
now the good news!!! :D
i asked cpulloverclock about the 865/875 chipset tweaker (like the a64 tweaker but for intel) and he said franck from cpuz actually wrote it. franck is a friend of me and i asked him about it, and he liked this group order idea and said he will support us by writing an app to tweak the p4gd1 boards in windows :woot:
it would actually be a 915 tweaker and will probably work with other 915 and maybe even 925 boards as well :)
Well, the good news is great! AND the bad news isn't too bad , besides IO shields who really cares about the other crap? The USB/ serial port might be usual for some peeps, but other than that I think we'd all be fine.
Manual, I assume can be downloaded as well as drivers.
just to clarify Saaya, this is only affecting the US side of the operation, or will the weight issue also affect us european customers ?
no, im sending your boards all one by one, and the weight for a single box is 2kg max and a board doesnt weight that much :)
Either way doesn't matter to me. I'd pay the extra shipping if people want the full package but I don't care for myself. I would like to have the IO sheild, allthough I probably won't be using it either.
The only thing that concerns me is the packaging, it seeml like it's going to be a LOT of trouble for you to package that many mb's well enough to prevent damage without the original boxes. You've done a great job with this so far, so I'll go with your decision.. :toast:
I'll pay the extra 8 bucks for getting my box and cables. What's 8 bucks on top of 150?
This is very good news :clap:Quote:

I may have found another source for P4GD1s in Germany but since I don't read or speak German, I can't be sure if they actually have them in stock. If you end up getting any from this store, could I please buy one from you for my trouble? Please?Quote:

fred, thats the shop i bought the mobos from actually :D
maybe they have new stock and forgot to call me...
hmmm i got one call froman unknown number that i missed... maybe it was them... will call them tomorrow in the morning :)
Shouldn't you be able to use RMclock to lower multi with this board? Or maybe even centrino hardware control... it's basically the same chipset as the sonoma.Quote:

However, I do share boshuter's concerns: how much do you trust the shipper to get those across the ocean in one piece if they're not packed in the boxes?
i think if saaya puts the mobos in boxes and just takes out the manual and stuff (but leaves i/o shield), we can make the shipping cutoff. i'll talk to him about it and i share your concerns about shipping the mobos outside of their retail boxes.
Wow, if this comes true, I can see more of Dothan ownage on i915 boards soon :D :banana:Quote:

yeah, sent out your boards and the one for pedro/ricky already :)
im feeling a little better already, i ate 1.5 kilos of joghurt :D
im kinda lucky, my stomach hurts really bad and i feel weak, but at least its barely messing with my head, almost no feever or headaches :)
i really dont care about body pain that much, but i hate when an illness is messing up my mind :D
hmmm maybe ill be fit enough to send out the board tomorrow, hmmm if i remember correctly the post station in the central station is open on saturday too! :)
hmmm if i wanna go there tomorrow morning with all those boxes i have to eat something "real" besides joghurt to have some strength.
im going to take the risk and see how my stomach likes some french fries.
wish me luck :D
are they all gone? or is it still possible to get one over to me in the UK?
i forgot to mention, the shop called me yesterday, the managed to get some more boards :D they reserved 5 boards for me, 3 are already gone though :D
so 2 more boards available, the first 2 people to contact me will get one :D
btw, i told those guys about the p4gd1 stock in russia and they just laughed really loud :D i thougt maybe they had a good relation or connection to some russian reseller or trader or anything, but appearently you have to have really good connections to export and import with russia... and even then you still have to pay a err... import... export..."fee"... to err... IT's mine lol :D Now if i get it il just sell my current Dothan sys.Quote:

railer your too late, sorry, and lawrywild, when you decided they were all gone already...
ill see if i can get more, but my priority is now getting the boards i already have shipped :D
np man, I couldn't get it anyway coz of no multi change in bios..
might be added later, pls it seems you dont need to change the multi in bios anyways, you can change it in windows just like the fsb, seems to work fine according to kingpin and macci :)
I can also confirm that and there is no problem booting with FSB below 200 and increase it in Windows using ClockGen. Just remember that ClockGen is showing an insanely high PCI and PCI-E frequency which is not the actual speed. :)Quote:

K, was just confused by the "Last edited by cirthix : 11-02-2005 at 02:26 PM." date on the first post (considering it's now the 20th). And ..Whether that meant he was waiting for confirmation on the boards he had sent out to people (if so, none of which have been mentioned on the first post. eg- a 123 next to peoples names.). Or whether it meant he was waiting for boards to come in to him. :confused:Quote:

This combination of the P4GD1 and the P M chip has fascinated me for months. I have a new 770 and the Ct-479 sitting here along with a Lian Li PC 70 case to put it in. Just need the Mb and the ram and we're good to go.
never realized how difficult it would be to find this MB. Asus USA told me that they had made the dcision not to sell this board in the US or Canada but I couldn't get a reason from them as to why. I searched the "world" and finally found one in Zagreb,Croatia and since I actually have a friend there, he went and bought it for $112.00 US. Then called both DHL and UPS to see what it would cost to ship it to NH. Are you sitting down? Do you have your heart pills nearby? $207.00 from UPS and $277.00 from DHL!
My buddy there finally went to the local church and a visiting missionary is carrying back here in early December. Damn the things we do to get what we want.
M8, I'm just suprised you convieniently had a friend in Zagreb Croatia.Quote:

Did the boards ship out today ?
Report a mobo death....
related to i don't konw....
Previous rig was :
Ce M 370 J
asus Ct-479 adaptor
Tagan 330W Power Supply (+24 pins to 20 pins adaptor connector)
2x512 DDR Corsair XL 2-3-3-6
Board was running well...then died....
Cpu was a little more 2.6 Ghz (FSB around 173-175 and Vcore to 1.45 V)
So it is.....
Board was unmodded
Will advice you to wait for Sonoma based architecture mobo's....
;)
24 to 20 pin == BAD
the 20 to 24 pin adapter won't do any good or harm. if it was wired wrong, the psu would short out instantly and turn itself off. if it was wired correctly, its not going to cause a problem.
newbie user: test each component seperately, ram in another box, cpu in a lappy, vid card in another box, use a known good pwoer supply, p4 in the mobo, reset bios, the works.
20 to 24 is ok but 24 to 20 == bad
Well, let us know why please...Quote:

and to you guys about the 24 and 20 pin adapters, they make no difference either way. its a pin to pin connection, unless they are connected to something they shouldnt be or not connected fully, they will make no difference for the better or worse. I'll personallybe using one, but that's because my new power supply's mobo connector is really short and i need it extended
24 to 20 pin != bad. Period....the extra four pins are just for extra current draw if required. On top of that, a 24 pin can plug directly into a 20 pin and have 4 pins just dangling out no problem as well.
Good news cirthix! That means that those of us getting boards directly from saaya should have ours shipped fairly soon as well! :woot:
Sounds like wishful thinking to me :slobber: :slobber: I'm in the same boat as you Vapor :DQuote:

yes 24 pin that you can take off the extra four to make a 20 pin is fine.
however when you use a 24 to 20 pin converter it gives the last 4 pins extra current giving the mobo more then required. ive seen so many mobos come back with no post since they released those converters thats why they now came up with the ability to slide the extra 4pins off if you mobo does not require them.
Given that the additional 4 wires come from the same spot in the psu, I have a hard time imagining them having this effect... It should really make no difference if the 4 extra pins are disconnected or joined with the wires to the existing, corresponding pins; all they are is additional parallel paths between the same places.
Exactly...it's ONLY to allow more current to be able to be moved as wires can overheat and eventually get to the point where they have a resistance and CAN'T supply the current. Adding more paths for power to get from point A to point B isn't going to hurt point B, regardless of how little power it uses.
I've run a 24-20 pin converter for as long as they've been around on my Fortron server PSU to my old P4 board and there's been no damage what-so-ever.
I C,
Maybe just a :banana::banana::banana:ty converter that came with the psu then.
well learn something everday
Exactly, just because there are exta wires doesn't mean there will be extra current BEING FORCED into the mobo. The board will draw as much current AS IT NEEDS, its the same as the myth that you buy a bigger ATX PSU and it'll cost more to run. Rubbish! It'll draw exactly as much power from the wall as the last one did, however, it will have the ability to supply more in the future!!!!
If anyone has become disenchanted with their P4GD1's and wants to rid themselves of it, let me know. I am willing to make a generous donation to your PayPal account in exchange.
mission control, the eagle, err.. boards, yes boards, have landed.
now all we need is the chips :D
I have chips... :p:

SOooooo, what's the status of the boards that WERN'T going to cirthix?

ahhhh, i cant wait untill tomorrow, hopefully they will be in. there's some other goodies i'm dying for too, but the mobo.... dammn the tracking for not working, the suspense is killing me. sleep will pass the time, so i'm off to go do that. goodnight all

i was busy moving his stuff out and cleaning up the room and apartment to prepare for a new roomate, me and the other roomate now have to find a new guy asap. plus as soon as i had recovered from the stomach flu/food poisoning thing a buddy who was travelling through spain for a mopnth came ack and imported a nice flu he sneezed and coughed at me :slap: :D
about the boards, i work for the deutsche post/dhl, so i sent some boards but the station where they receive the boxes closed. so i left them at work and asked a co-worker to send them out and gave him the money.
but there was a problem, you can either send something as "paket", wich is up to 5kg and insured, or you ca send it as a "päckchen" (small box) wich is only up to 2kg. you can chose an option to have each sent via airmail, and in my booklet it said if you send something via airmail its automatically insured up to 500€. BUT what i didnt know was that for some reason those small boxes arent insured even when they get sent via airmail...
a friend of me worked at the airport and always told me about how loads of stuff gets lost there, so when my co-worker called me and told me it wouldnt be insured i told him not to send those boards then.
sending as box costs a bit extra, for some regions like astralia and hong kong a lot extra!
i now sent all boards insured because i dont wanna risk anything... sorry if some of you might be annoyed that bshipping costs more, but i didnt want to risk anything... :/
blue = boards sent
all the boards for you guys in the us were sent to cirthix on monday 21st

now to the people who bought from me directly. some also bought a dothan 780ES cpu through me. those cpus arrived later than expected (half have arrived, other half will arive in 2 days) so i didnt sent those boards out right away because i will send the cpu and the board together.

Ratax ojdr2001 and pedro rocha, i sent the ct479 and 780ES and the two boards to ratax on monday 21st
saaya (board arrived :P :D)
boards that have not been sent out yet:
there are 5 more boards i managed to get from com-texx wich went to bjonz,fewture,ojdr2001,neova,hipro5
vapor and bjonz, sending one box costs around 50€, i will send your boards and the 780ES for vapor together to vapor, ok?
i will get the board for you, bjonz, in 4 days, and will then send it all to vapor and he will send the board to you.
ben babyelf and neova, you guys are all from the same region hong kong/australia, so i will send your boards together, ok?
i can send 3 boards in one box, wich costs around 60€ via airmail, sending each board in a seperate box would also cost 60€ each...
im getting neovas board in 4 days, then i will send all your boards and the 780ES for ben together in one box. please let me know whom i should send all the stuff.
hipro5 im still waiting for the 3rd p4gd1 for you, will send the 3 boards plus the ct479 to you as soon as i get the extra 5 boards.
fewture will send the board plus the 780ES to you as soon as i get the extra 5 boards.
sorry for the delay you guys, it all started with 10 boards, but a group order of 37 boards plus 19 780ES cpus was a much more complex thing :D
so please esxcuse the delays... :bows:
warning!
i almost forgot, franck the author of cpuz is working on a p4gd1 tweaker for us
i was beta testing the tweaker and while i was at it i discovered a serious issue on the p4gd1 board. never, ever, use clockgen and cpuz at the same time on this board!
if you do both will report an increased fsb but the speed will actually stay the same! well whats the problem with that? :D
after you reboot your memory will die... dont ask me how or why, but i lost a 256mb bh5 stick at first and thougt it was a coincidence and the stick was just old, but i repeated the same situation and lost yet another stick... :(
oh and none of the boards i sent out yet have the bios flashed!
im sorry but i only got a cpu to flash the bios on monday, and i had the boards already wrapped in paper and put in boxes.
i will try to flash all the boards i havent sent out yet, but i dont know if i have enough time.
if you get your boards and want to flash them i recommend you to flash to 1006 and not 1005, i dont know if it was me or if the options werent available, but in 1005 there was no option whastoever, no fsb setting, no dram setting, vcore, vdd, vdim, fsb termination voltage, pc and pciE locks etc etc...
the bios is really lame imo, and it took me some time to get used to it. i will make a new thread with tips soon :)

i think the 915 tweaker will go public during theese days :)
ill ask franck if i can share the current version with you guys. atm its just memory timings, but better than nothing :)
franck said he wants to implement multiplier and vcore as well. he would like to implement more settings but he doesnt have the infos about the chipset he would need from intel :/
biggest problem i see with the p4gd1 is the lack of dividers. theres only a 5:4 and a 1:1 divier, thats it... :/
i hope a new bios adds all the other dividers.
and about killing the memory, well my banias couldnt get over 150fsb for some reason, 150fsb was stable, 150.5fsb would freeze the system...
when i had cpuz and clockgen running i could get over 150fsb... or so i thought :D
actually the seed was still the same. when i closed cpuz and restarted it it was showing 150fs again... i rebooted and thats where my memory died.
no idea how this happened, franck has no idea either...
i tried the same thing again and again my memory died, so it wasnt a coincidence...
as i mentioned via pm, this might very well be due to a faulty board, as both sticks
died in the same board, maybe even the same slot - i know i'll test mine with some
infineon 6as first ;) not to waste some good ole bh5
i dont think the board is faulty, it worked perfectly fine except for the sticks dieing when using clockgen and cpuz to increase the fsb beyond of what was stable...
What bios works with this board... I am thinking about getting one....
Alex
well good luck finding one :D
1006 or 1007 beta i think is floating around... 1005 and below are worthless iirc, until 1006 there are no vcore vdimm and fsb options etc...
hey everybody... i'm looking at 11 P4GD1s droolllll. the boards came in today. unfortunately, the shipping bios does not support the adapter and i dont have a 533/800fsb p4 to flash with. good news is that my local pc shop owner owes me a favor and said i could bring a board in (he doesnt know there are 11, so i might hotflash the rest and not burden him.. or i could just push my luck) and flash it using one of his cpus.
more good news is the atx power plug, its 24 pin, but has the little nub all the way along it, so 20 pin connectors will have no problem clipping on.
more good news: 2 people dropped today, the first 2 to pm me gets em:)
bad news: due to shipping costing about 10 bucks per board more than what we expected, the costs of a board is now 150usd shipped. sorry for the increase, but shipping was just more than we expected (and paypal fees too, grr).
sorry about the shipping costs thing, i really misread the pricing system :/
but i have to say this dhl pricing table is a pos! :D
its incredibly complex and there are many things that arent mentioned in the right places...
good to hear the boards arrived zizi :D
and it passed customs just fine? :D sweeeeeet :D

Pertinent information:
**The shipped price of a board to the U.S. is 150usd. If you are in Canada, we'll talk in PMs, but it won't be much more.
**Unless you're fine with waiting a week for your personal cheque to clear payment is by postal money order only.
**If you have not already sent me your address, please do so.
**Inside the envelope with payment, there should be three things: the money order, your XS username, and your shipping address. This will help me keep track of things and reduce possible errors.
**Please let me know when you send payment, that way i wont nag you :D
**If you do not respond to my pm to this post within a week, I'll put the board that was reserved for you in the for sale section.
**In the event that a board is dead on arrival, I can't do anything for you, but luckily ASUS is pretty quick with RMAs.
**My heatware is under cirthix and i'd appreciate a review after you get your board.
**All boards are brand new, in the retail box with all accessories, but i'm not going to test each and every one of them.
**In the event that you ask me to flash your bios, I'll put it in my board and flash it there(much easier than swapping everything, especially with a 7700cu).
**I will use one board to flash my bios, it will be out of the stack that is going to the people that need them flashed. This board will not be oc'd and only used for flashing bioses. consider it being tested :P. I'll let you know if you will be getting this one. I'll only use it to flash my bios, and anyone else who needs it will be hotflashed in my personal board.
**If you want your bios flashed, just ask. If you don't, i'll assumed that you don't need it flashed.
**If you have any questions, just ask.
**You have been PM'd a link to this with my address and name, if i missed you, PM me.
edited because i spelled a name wrong
