Also priced dropped to $217 plus shipping.
Does that mean it runs cooler, overclocks higher? Give as more details about "does really good"...Quote:

Okay guys, maybe someone can enlighten me.. system specs in signature. I just installed a 3500+ Venice Rev. E that I picked up from a firend of mine. The processor was doing 255*11 (2805) happily in his system. The notion I had in my head is.. oky, my 3000+ Venice Rev. E is able to run all day at 285*9 without breaking a sweat so this should be cake to get it to run with this new processor.
I got the processor, set the bios more or less the same as my 3000+ and I cannot seem to break 230*11.. I can boot at 235 & 240 but I lock up or BSOD within minutes.. I have even gone to the length of raising the VDIMM to 2.6 & 2.7 but no joy. Is it possible that the x11 multi is the culprit?? I don't mind lowering the multi to get a higher FSB and overclock the processor. I am not saavy on how this memory (or any other for that matter) reacts to the multi.
I did also try a divider to get a higher FSB but that was a catastrophe as well. The first thing I did was lower the HTT to 2.5, set the multi to x11 and set my ram to 100 to try and find my max CPU and it choked around the 230 mark. Again, I first hand witnessed this CPU hit 2800 on another box with the same mobo.
Stumped and need suggestions.
Thanks!
try lowering to 9x with the memory on a divider, you wont lose anything not having it 1:1. and 3xhtt is better up to 335
Exactly what I plan on doing next since I know that is a set up that I can replicate.. This leads me back to my question though that maybe G.Skill Tech can possibly answer.. does the x11 interact with the ram in a way that causes it to perform differently than a x9?
ar...is there 11x on 3000+
anyways, the mulit is actually like sine wave, and control by mobo. the bios will tells the wave need to be weak or strong in able to make it work. it is nothignt to do with ram and cpu. this multi is actually the job for bios/mobo
No, 3000+ is locked, no higher than 9x. I will try the 9x multi and some different FSBs when I get home. What gets me is that I know that ram was at 285*9 and ran flawlessely, on the same token I know that CPU was at 2800 so I need to come to a happy medium. I stand by this memory and really don't want to change to another brand especially when I know it can perform.
I have my hands full today as I leave for a cruise and will not return until the next Sunday.. this will be eating away at me all cruise long if I cannot get this worked out. LOL
On the 9x multi I am now at 290 with the 180 divider. I tried 10x and no go, and 11x is definitely out of the question. I am stumped.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me some nice memorysettings for this kit?
For the moment I run 3-3-3-8 1T 246fsb. Vdimm: 2,66V
I tryed 3-4-4-8 1T 270fsb but that result in clear CMOS!
All memsettings are set to auto exept for 1T and 3-3-8-3.
System in sign.
My goal is ~270x9. My cpu dont like more than 246fsb with less voltage and I use stockcooling!?
Thanks...
Update: currently at 300*9 w/ 2.7V. No BSODs or silly lock ups yet. Running on a 180 divider.. 3-4-8-4.. everything else is stock. Once again, I tried at x11 and no luck.. x10 is immediate no go no matter what FSB I use.
Now I have managed to run 273x9 stable and are rather happy.
My settings: 3-4-8-4 1T, Vdimm ~2.6V the rest is auto.
How can I tweak my settings to raise fsb??
My cpu liked x9 more than x10!?
Is the DFI 704-2BT the best bios for these sticks? What are your results?
Can you go 250FSB with 3-3-3-8 ?
If u can , im interested in those sticks :D
i got a set coming in tommorow, hopefully they will rock . i think its awesome we have a g skill tech here. thanks again
I just got a set of this in the mail, but am running into some problems with my Ultra-D. One of the sticks works fine, but when I have the other stick in, either in tandem with the first stick, or by itself in slots 1 or 2, the board fails to boot. I get a long beep, and three of the red diagnostic LEDs stay on, and the fourth blinks. In fact, it is the same problem as this guy has here:
http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33571
Can I conclude that I have one bad stick, or is there some other solution? If it is a BIOS issue, which BIOS would you guys recommend? Thanks!
i think it is DOA, or damage during it shipedQuote:

This stuff rocks. after dealing with my ballistix dieing in two weeks i was thrilled with these results. Cudos to G Skill as this is the first time i have owned G skill, but defintily not the last.
I'm gonna be getting me a set of these from the egg as soon as they credit me for my dead Redlines. I'm hoping for a good set to get 280 fsb out of but at $199usd I'll be happy with 250.:D
My thoughts exactly. I just ordered 4gb  . Hope they play nice with my opty...Quote:

It seems to do 3-4-3-7 at 262 MHz, priming now.
Just got my 2gbhz today, put them in (orange slots) after a bios reset, and no post. Took one out and left the other in the top orange slot, posted fine.
Took the one out that posted and put the other in by itself and no post.
So i tried several lengthy bios resets with just the suspect stick in and still nothing.
I tried ever mem slot on the mobo, nothing.
Put my Mushkin back in without a bios reset and posted first time.
All this with the 623-3 and 623-2 bios's
Not to terribly impressed with gskill so far being my first time using thier stuff. Arent modules tested before they leave the factory to avoid DOA memory.
You'll always have some that slip thru the cracks even with the best testing.:stick:Quote:

MY best on default 250FSB was 3-4-3-5. If I could reduce this 4 into 3 I would be happy, so 3-3-3-5 is my target. Did anyone reached this? I mean I'm satisfied with 3-4-3-5......but I want to play a little more if someone can help on this:banana:
I have just sold my G-Skill Extreme 2GB HZ PC4000, and got a pair of Crucial Ballistix 2GB PC4000. And what diffrence. Before 305Mhz 3-4-3-8 T1 and that danm 180 divider at 2.6v, now 305 3-3-3-8T1 and 1:1 at 2.9v. And i´m sure that if i wanted, 310 is possible.
Watch the voltage to those Ballistix, alot of failures running more than 2.8v, they don't fail right away, but more so over 2 months or so of use. The HZ have been treating me great, and seem to be more cpu/mem controller sensitive than some of my other memory sticks and they run nice and cool.
There is no indication that the "bad batch" we have seen on Ballistix was caused by overvolting.Quote:

I just got this set about a week ago. I am only able to do 255Mhz @ 3-4-4-8 at 2.7V on a nF4 Ultra D. I've upped the Voltage with no luck. Tried coping some of your setting from first page just to hit 260Mhz. Memtest #5 always seems to Fail. I'm running it at 1/01 Ratio. I already Tested CPU and it can hit 3Ghz so I know it isn't that. Any suggestions? Do I need to Put Active cooling on them?
EDIT:: Also how bout if SuperPI and OCCT pass and Prime passes after about 8 hours or so? Would that be Stable even if I get errors in memtest?
Thanks
hello!!!
this is my first post!
I'm italian. I not speak very well ...you excuse to me!
I have same problem with my kit HZ.
Passed hours and hours of test with memtest at the frequency of 250/260/265 but beyond frequency of 265, test #5 found errors........
Superpi 32mb is perfect....... at 270!!
My kit is stopped at 265 RS........ !!!?!?!?
Anyone? I must be doing something wrong if I can only max out at like 250-255 and most people are hitting 280 or atleast 260. Thank you
I go perfectly until at 265, no errors in memtest..... but already at 270 have errors in test #5.
I want to go at least 270 with no errors!!!
However until at 270 have passed superpi 32 mb with no errors!!
Must I set up better the bios?
With which timings?
What board and bios are you running?
Can you post a screenshot of your A64 tweaker settings?
i have asus a8n32 sli deluxe, whit last bios 1009.
A64 tweaker not work with my board..........
My setting are....

thanks for help me!!
excuse for my english!
Where did you guys buy these sets?
Maybe they are not from the newest batch that came out of newegg and did so well.
Anyway, copy the A64tweaker settings that I had in my screenshots. These settings were not what the board autodetected for this set, they are derived from my TCCD settings and did better than autodetected.
your memtest run correctly?
Well right after I purchased Mine they were out of stock for acouple days. So I'm guessing I should have got a good batch, but maybe they go through them quicker than we think. I tried your settings and I used them in A64Tweaker and it corrupted my Windows so I had to reinstall. lol. I just tested and got through 5 passes of Test#5 on memtest at 3-4-4-9. And I changed acouple settings like you had. After I passed 5x's I just moved up to 265 and testing now. I guess I'll just keep messing with them. Do any of you have Fans blowing directly on memory?
update.....
I tested only single (one for time) module into slot dimm A and slot dimm B, and it works perfectly at 270/275 in the slot A...... I have errors only slot dimm B exceeds 265!!! Slot A go at 275, slot B .... 265...
Why? Mainboard limit with this ram ?? Bios problem? or memtest not run correctly with this chipset o mainboard?
note
I read the memtest site and it says that there are possible problems with mainboard nforce4!
what color RAM slots you have yours in?
I have mine in the yellow ram slots.
memtest have problems with nF4? I'll have to look into that.
I have an asus a8n32 sli ....no dfi.
My slots color is pair blue and pair black.
Hi guys i'm new here and id like to ask some questions about gskill pc4000 usu2.I cant run it over 255 after that i get memtest errors .In 5th test at 98 percent exactly it makes a countdown 16000 mistakes:slobber:
My system is
DFI NF4 SLI-DR
GSKILL F1-4000USU2 -2GBHZ
2 EVGA 7800GTX SLI
AMD ATHLON 64 4400+X2
2 MAXTOR 160,200GB
THERMALTAKE PSU 680 WATT
I have set everthin in genie bios in not at all tight settins.I set them due to examples of yours here .I cant get it runs stable.
I have reduced the ltd at 3x .Run ram at 2.7 volts and nothins. Are there any other settings to help.I ve also used many bios and checked rams in yellow &orange slots and invidually but nothin. Also havin a blowin fan up to the memories.
So gskill technisians and other gurus of this forums any ideas.
Thanx in advance.
Well my G. Skiill is running at 273mhz now and a processor speed of 2930mhz while prime 95 is going. All seems well for now.

I was able to do 270, with 702-3 bios. I tried 275 no luck, 2-3 errors per pass. I will try 704-2BTA bios will modules in yellow slots. I hope I will get 275 stabil
...... memtest running at 265....but often at 250....reboot.....blank screen...not first start boot!!
Is my kit bad?
Are compatible with nforce 4 or my asus a8n32 sli deluxe?
Why one for time in the dimm slot A1 running at least 270...... and in the dimm slot B1.....have error in test 5 at 98% of di memtest.....at less 265 ??
My system is
a64 4000+
a8n32 sli deluxe
power Seasonic s12 500w
n°2 7800gt SLI
Help me please!!
GS TECHNICIAN!!!!!!
Also Me I Cant run even 255.GS Technisian we desperately need you .
Mine will run upto 280 but I get a few errors at that speed and can't pass super Pi 32m. I'm pretty content to run them at 255 3 4 3 7 1T, they run very smooth with all my games maxed out so I'll settle for what I got until I get my dual core. I haven't tried anything in between because my cpu max is more important IMO than my memory max.
Any Settings That Could Help Us?
Also in 704-2bta bios which Drive strenth should i pic weak 1,2,3,4 or normal 1,2,3,4
Also In drive strength level 1,2,3?
Very Confused ive tried anythin:(
Here are my settings with a pretty new kit. SLI-DR, Opteron CABYE.
http://www.cons.org/cracauer/oc-scre...hz-3-4-4-8.png
These settings are not what the board autodetected, they are drived from my TCCD settings.
So you might want to try them.
Also, for me it made a big difference to reorder the sticks. I have one weaker stick and I get much higher by placing the weaker one in the slot closer to the CPU.
asus amd mother board is hard to play with, you need o spend more time on that mother board :(Quote:

From what I've read at DFI-Street,OCforums,[H], and here with my setup and those Sticks of RAM I should atleast beable to go over 255.
Maybe I just got the unlucky sticks or something. Just not sure what to do if there's anything I can do.

As a next step for you I'd say try the sticks individually (use slot 2 on the DFI).
I ve tried any settin i found in here so far so nothin the best thing i made was to get only 5000 errors in 5 memtest instead of 60000 i did b4.Im out of ideas.I tried every combination data strenght but nothin .Desperate just desperate
Why don't you just start out with the loosest timings possible and work your way down from there. It may take a little time but it will help you figure out where your problem is.
Whats the weakest i could put data strenghts .I have tried alll at the weakest settings but some of them didint know what the weakest.Do you have any examples.Sthanx & sorry fopr all the mess.
try weak 4 and drive strength level 3Quote:

I usually leave it at default 3120 or 200mhz 15.6us, seems to work pretty good for me there. Try lossening up some of the other timings just a bit, maybe move them up by 1 and retest. Not your main timings like 3 4 4 8 but the ones below those.

can anyone elaborate a little on the Tref settings? I noticed that GS Technician is using Tref 3684 (100mhz 1.95us) and I was wondering what effect this has on bandwidth and OC? Even after reading the DFI-street thread I am still quite confused on Tref and what the proper setting is for UCCC like this GSKILL HZ.
I have seen others use the setting like 0780 (200mhz 15.6us) .. is that a faster or slower setting? From my quite limited understanding, the Tref specifies the period between when the RAM must be "refreshed" so I would think that a LONGER (15.6us) interval would = more bandwidth because it would have to refresh less often, so that would mean the 1.95us setting is actually the SLOWEST setting? but can someone correct me?
EDIT: well just a quick follow-up I just did some Sandra mem b/w tests and got this result:
(it shows <1% variance between the two settings)
http://solvent-llc.com/files/snag030.png
So I guess that the Tref is really nothing to do with bandwidth or performance but merely affects stability. So it is the kind of setting that there really should be a "proper" setting for this UCCC ram. Can I assume it is the 100mhz 1.95us setting that GS Tech has shown?
Well thanks Lucky, I think I'll give these another go around with the slower setting and see if i can't get um upto 280mhz.Quote:

At 250Mhz, the difference between G.S Technician and these settings in A64 Tweaker is under 100MB/s. I tried pushing the CPU and memory a little further, but it starts BSODing. I'm too lazy to isolate the problem right now, and want to keep the CPU at default voltage, so for now, I'm happy at 2500MHz with this X2. The wierd thing is, at 270MHz, it gives me less bandwidth in Sandra than at 250MHz.
I set my Trtw to 2, but my Abit AN8 Ultra keeps on changing it to 4, no matter what I set it to in the BIOS. I have to set it manually to 2 in A64 Tweaker.
Passed SP2004 for 12+ hours in SP2004 large FFT with G.S Technician's settings and these settings.
I've read this thread entirely and have tried to match exactly the settings that GS Technician has specified for Tras, Trp, Trrd, etc in A64Tweaker and in BIOS. I cannot get my memory to be stable past 265Mhz. Even at 265 it is "iffy" and sometimes fails Memtest86 test#5. And I see many people with same mem are easily reaching 285-290mhz. I would be happy with 275 even but 265?? It is very low compared to what most people are getting with these chips!
Here are my current settings:

Vdimm: 2.60v*
LDT volt: 1.30v

(During testing I am using an A64 4400+ with the multiplier stepped DOWN to 8x so to isolate only the RAM for testing purposes)
*I have tried all Vdimm from 2.5~2.8v and it does not make much difference.

I saw mentioned that there are different "batches" of this mem and some of them are having problems OC'ing or need more/less voltage than the other. Is mine an OLD batch or NEW batch, and which one is better? I feel that my S/N with starting "051205" indicates that module was made in May 2005 which would seem to me that I got someone's "bad" module that was RMA'd to newegg. Because I just bought mine in January 2006!! I should have an "06" module, correct? So do I have a bad set?
G.S. Technician, Please help, I have spent lots of time testing and have no success. :-( thanks :)
I'm a little confused as to what to set the Dram Drive Strength and Dram Data Drive Strength with this memory in BIOS on my DFI board. I use all of GS Tech's settings from the first page in the BIOS to run these at 255, but leave these settings on auto since the suggested setting is not shown in GS Tech's A64 tweaker screenshot. But when I pop up A64 Tweaker it shows my DRAM strength as normal. What are you all setting DRAM Drive strength and DRAM Data Drive strength to with in the BIOS to to get it weak?
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/785...06061gw.th.jpg
I'm stable at 255x11 using auto for these settings ATM, but I want to see how high I can push it and want to know what would be a good place to start for these settings for this memory. I'm currently using the 623-3 BIOS, rig specs in my sig.
For UCCC try 7/3 or 5/2.
As for the values for Dram Drive Strength, 1,3,5 and 7 are weak, 2,4,6 and 8 are normal.
Is it better to run with the Tref at 100 w/1.95us or 200 w/7.8us?
Some of these settings are confusing the hell out of me... lol.
i got some old and new batch of expert board and it is much harder to run. i would suggest to use normal DFi mobo
well thats easy for you to say but after shelling out $200 for a mobo it is not so easy to just toss it in the junk pile
