anyone of you know what the best bios is for a venice + bh5 ram?
try the 310P and on, it varies system to system.
(310P, 316. and 510-2 are the ones that work best here)
Venice / UTT
3.10p and 3.16 also i have heard that the 5.10-2 work VERY well with Venice and BH-5/UTT
Dragon
BH-5 what, 512mb or 256mb, SS or DS rams?
Or is't any different
DFI nF4
Venice 3200+
2*256mb SS KHX3000 BH-5, +270FSB
2*256mb SS KHX3200 BH-5, +270FSB
2*256mb DS KHX3500 DW50, +270FSB
ther's my test rams
( SS= singlesided, DS= doublesided)
Can someone clarify this for me?
Some people are saying that xxx-1 bioses are better for TCCD RAM, but others are saying it's xxx-3 which is the more suitable? I know that it says that xxx-3 are the optimized ones in the first post, but I'm sure that I read someplace else that this was the wrong way round?
i beleive -1 is a general bios for all ram, -2 is for UTT (Vx) and -3 is for TCCD.
-1 or -3 work fine with TCCD, some people have better luck with different ones.
oh, and for a while here either the info or the links was backwards for some of them, read back a few pages i beleive it said it somewhere.
What about the Hellfire BIOS? I'm just running it and it seems to be fine with my BH5
Link to DFI Forum/ Hellfire Thread
w00t!!! boys and girls HellFire is back in the game this is a crazy moment he was the one that made some of the most legendary bios for the NF2 boards and now he is making them for the DFI NF4 w00t!!!

Pershoot have you updated the bios cd?

Dear mates,
Did anyone try both BIOS 5-10.1 and 5.10.3 for TCCD chip? Which do you feel better? As it is stated here
Will TCCD be really better in orange slots with BIOS 5-10.3?Quote:
- 5.10-1 Updated 5.09. 1 uses 3.26 ram table (TCCD)
- 5.10-3 Updated 5.09. 3 uses 3.10 ram table (TCCD,BH-5,UTT) TCC* will run better in orange slots.
I beleave it is so as UTT is better in yellow for most bios...and I have heard that TCCD is better in orange...at least witht he 5.10-3 that is...With UTT some people can gain 15MHz by going from orange to yellow...
Dragon
They might not be offically supported but they DO work MUCH better in almost all cases then the offical none modded bios...you trade speed and performance for slightly decreased peace of mind from having a beta bios...Quote:

ok firedragon, i had not heard anything about people having this on normal bioses. i work as a reviewer with OCZ and got the info from those guys, and word was that it happened very rarely and only with beta bioses.
and UTT works better in yellow?? :stick: damn i gotta try me that :D
They know there stuff yes but they also only know from what they have treid not what has happend to others...I love OCZ wish I was a reviewer...

i haved the 6.00 pd 25-1-2005, and have some problems booting from diferent hard drives, have to disable external cache and in some cases cpu internal cache.
for what is external cache?
any guide for the rest of values of the bios not dram either cpu ?
i`m going for 3.10,didnt see 3.10 p support by dfi

I have a question how to flash the bios without a floppy drive:
Can I boot from a USB stick with the DFI Board or have I to flash from CD? USB stick would be nice because that was the reason why I bought me one.
Im just get DFI DAGF few days ago,
my question is ,
can all those BIOS listed in the first page can use on my board ?
If cannot, then which one would you recommend ?
currently i was using official lastest BIOS...
No, DAGF has different BIOS.
Hey just use winflash...that is what I use just make sure EVERYTHING is set to stock before you flash and it should be all good...
Dragon
Winflash has a "Reset CMOS" option that you can check.Quote:

I get BSOD when installing Windows...I'm gonna try installing a copy with SP2 (cd from work today).
The board from Fry's has no label on the last PCI slot so I don't know the revision, nor does the stock BIOS have Memtest. I tried to flash to 414-3 using the bootable CD-ROM but it always says "Device Not Ready". What is wrong?
someone else has that same problem atm here, still troubleshooting, will let u know what happens.... I'm suspecting the board atm.Quote:

Well I finally got to install Windows. Had 1/25 BIOS and it might have been conflicting with Venice. Flashed to 310 with a floppy (boot cd wouldn't flash). Windows install still BSOD, but I upped RAM voltage from 2.6 to 2.8 and it let me install. hurray!
Which is the best bios for some ocz eb? I didnt see one there and was wondering.
Hey guys...what are we reckoning about the new 06/15 BIOS. Apparently all the tweaking has to be re-learned all over again :(
Anyway, its here to download in English
refreshed cdrom image with 615 and replaced 8.59 awdflash w./ 8.6.
refreshed cdrom image with 618.
I flashed my Bios from 331-1 to 615 yesterday. Miraccle!!!. It solved my cold boot issues. But it affectes my oc. On 331-1 I could oc to 260Mhz @ 2-2-2-2 at 3.6vdimm stable. But now I could not do 260Mhz at the same settings. Bios 615 is quite picky on the RAM timing. I have to lower the CL to 2.5 in order to get my comp stable occasionally. I said occasionally becoz, at 260Mhz @ 2.5-2-2-2, my windows might hang during application such as 3DMark 2001 SE or Prime95 or during gaming such as Far Cry. Well! there is a lost and a gain for my case. But it is better than 'living with Cold Boot'. As for USB Problem, I did not encounter as I am on Ps/2 mouse and keyboard. Will try some tweaking and bencies tonight to make my tight timing to gain its stablility. Hmmm...this proof that my icute (PSU) is not the problem althought it has only 20pin
My sig

thx
try the 704-2 bios
The bios you are recommending could kill the CPU if Special VID is at 123% or above. They'll be a revision in a week or so.Quote:

the 706 is the 704 with out 116% and above for special VID control, works fine and is safe, but still puts some high volts through your CPU regardless.
My advice is for everyone to stop using 704 and wait for the replacement from oskar wu, he's working on it.
??? I am not reccomending anything. I have 'added' the bug statement and the bug link to the ISO and the -mini.Quote:

What is the best bios for this combination?
try the official 623, its the most balanced of all the bioses so far. not to mention it wont toast your CPU like the naughty 704 :D
:D In my opinion it's 510-2FIX.Quote:

I've attached it here. This is exactly the same as the 704 that was recalled, but all voltage mulitpliers above 113% are removed, because those are the ones that did damage.
i still recomend that you use higher core voltage rather than the special % increase ones.

Sorry if this was asked like multiple times, but what is the best BIOS for UTT ram like the PC4000 VX?
510-2 worked great for me, and from then on things only got better.
if you go above 3.4V make sure to stick some active cooling on those modules, they get pretty hot.
Sorry to hear about your friend. Don't give up, he can still recover. I broke C7 4 years ago in a racing accident. I can now move my body 90% as before the accident. It might be a long and hard journey, but help and support from family and friends is what he needs. :up:Quote:

you can flash in windows yes, but dont do it OC'd, and dont do it if you system is unstable. a good idea is to severely underclock your system before flashing... better slow than a corrupterd bios.
I wouldnt worry about it being underclocked or overclocked. As long as you're not worried about the system crashing while you're doing it it should be fine. There is a verification step when you flash that will make sure it was flashed correctly. I would close out other applications to prevent the system from crashing though.Quote:

it did kill the ram, and it did it by overvolting (going back to tony/bigtoe to get that confirmed officially)

Heyy I need some help.
I'm about to fire up my dfi nf4 sli-d motherboard.
What bios should i use for my setup ?
And what program should i use in windows to flash ?
FireDragon: Thanks for a very nice bios guide :)
Pershoot: Thanks for a very usefull CD-rom with all bios revisions to date :)
But what does /py /sn /cd /cp /cc /LD /R /f mean? Py =?, sn=? and so on...
I'm using 510-2Fix with my DFI NF4 Ultra-D, 3000+ 0517DPMW and 2*512MB Twinmos Speed Premium at 260MHz@3.3v in orange slots (better than yellow on my board). Maybe I should try 510-2 Hellfire? Will this bios allow me to go higher with my Twinmos?
Monge
Update:
I found out, what the switch /py /sn etc. mean here:

Hi, I'm kind of new to the newer generation of DFI motherboards.
So I'm just interested in wich BIOSs i should test, its an X2 CPU so I don't know how old BIOSs i can test, so a recommendation would be nice. But I know that a BIOS ins't good on all hardware, so you don't have to give me that rant too ;)
Cheers
It says right in the guide when X2 suport was added it was LONG before the cpus came out
Dragon
man, my head hurts after reading this thread... currently i'm using the 623 bios (pretty sure it's an official release) and am thinking about flashing to the 310 final...
edit: nm, i see you need 510 or newer for RevE
i'm swaying more towards the 623-3 bios now seeing as i'm pretty happy with the bios as it is, and just want it a little more suitable for tccd rather than a general one...
310 has been good to me with TCCD, Max bench stable 340htt/ 300htt 24/7. But that is with Winn/Claw core.
Sorry if this has been answered before, but i just post a thread over at PCPer.com asking the following question:
Can somebody explain this to me please? Thanks :DQuote:
Over at xtremesystems.org this is what it's says about the -1/-2/-3 versions of BIOS files: "(-1 for TCCD/Micron/UTT-CH/UTT-BH/BH/CH This is the general bios that should work ok but is not optimized for any specific memory, -3 for TCCD/Micron, -2 for UTT-CH/UTT-BH/BH/CH)"
While at techpowerup.com it says this: "(* -3 for both kinds of rams (310 ram table), -1 for TCCD etc. (326 ram table), -2 for BH5/CH5 etc. (316 ram table))"
So i figured the -1 and the -3 version got switched around. But when i used a CRC file checker to compare the -3 version from XS.org with the -1 version of Techpowerup.com they didn't match. So there must be something wrong.
I would trust XS.org a little bit more, BUT of you look at the DFI website their BIOS file is named "N4D623-3" and according to Techpowerup.com that would stand for general use and that would make sence when downloading a BIOS from DFI. Also the N4D623-3 version from Techpowerup and from the DFI website do match. So i really think XS.org is wrong here.
what bios should i use for old school bh-5 & venice?
I'd try the latest 7/04-2bta from BigToe
soundx98
tnks
i'll try as soon as i get all the hardware +)
anything from 310 up i think. just use 623, latest official.
i just ordered a NF4 UT Ultra-D and am matching up a 7800 GT to it with a pair of 2X1GB Ballistix. Can you guys give me a recommended bios for OCing my 3800 X2 with my Ballistix? My other concern was are there any clearance problems for the 7800 cards clearing that chipset cooler?
gah dont use the bigtoe. while it fixed the CPU voltage killer bug, it still has RAM volts spikes on some boards (not many) which can hurt your ram. i have DDR600 here that screws up at IDLE now, never at load (memtest/OCCT lasts for 12+ hours, yet it wont sit idle for 15 minutes without a BSOD)
Can i use it for DFI NF4-DAGF motherboard?
P.S. Latest bios at DFI website - CK84D811 (2005/08/11).
