I know this has probly been asked before but what bios's are you guys using to get your bh-5 so high. I did the 3.3 vdimm mod and I cant seem to get my ram any higher still. Im pretty sure its not the ram but it could be the mem controler.

can someone tell me all the vr's i would need to fully mod my neo2
thanks
I have just made the VDD-Mod, but sadly it didn't help me get any higher HTT or any higher HTT with 1:1 which i was hoping for :( But it did help me with running dividers at higher HTT. Now I can boot with 270htt 166-divider, and that was imposible before.
I did put 1.8v through the chipset in 10min, and no problems accured so far :)
Where do you get those switches from, and are there any other kinda switches? maybe a button type switch or w/e?Quote:

Just a couple things I wanted to clarify...
When you do that vcore mod, will the vcore show up in bios for adjustment, or should you measure with a dmm/dvom? Couldn't see an answer in the thread...
When using a ddr booster, should you set the vdimm as high as poss or does vtt track just fine no matter what, and just set to lowest and let the ddr booster do the work?
Also, I just wanted to give a HOOOOOOGE shout to all the guys and gals that put in all the hard work, time and money into making this thread possible. You should know, if ya don't, that it's VERY much appreciated :D
Cheers
Gray
I think the bios will show the 'correct' vcore, but you should still use a dmm always, never trust the bios as you know and the vtt will track.
Will that mod work for K8N NEO2 Platinium Edition? Whit out G-54 thing, layer seems to be the same? And then i can rise the 3.3 from the PSU?Quote:

Yes, it will work, but what is the 'G-54 thing?' No idea what that is.
is there a vdimm mod like the gigabyte where you can use a vr to adjust the vdimm? hopefully more than the vio mod without having to mod your psu
There is can you take a pic of ur board, it's on the right side on the bottom... well.. if you look at it with the dimm slots horizontally anyways. I got a pic of mine on my camera, I'll put it up tomm, bout to go to bed, and don't wanna look for the drivers for my camera right now lol. If you wanna wait till tomm tho, I'll show you how. It's also somewhere on this forum, but it was kinda hard to find when I was looking before.
Hey, how did u do that mod? And how does it work?Quote:

You mus search for a switch thar can handle 127V at 5A or 3A also works.
That's why it will need to to take care of the whole 3.3V current that cames from PSU.
Hi there,
I'm new here but I own a Neo2 Platinum.
I saw the easiest vddr mod here, that with the 3.3V direct connection.
1) What do you think, would my 2 x 512 A-DATA Vitesta DDR500 sticks withstand this voltage or shall I better NOT try it ?
2) What about cooling the sticks ? In the Neo2 Platinum, they run in dual mode only in slot 1-2, what actually means: there's a small 1mm gap between the two sticks, not more. Not even air circulates between them, so cooling both sides of both sticks is impossible in this setup. (One side of each stick can be cooled of course with small heat spreaders.)
One more question:
how much current does flow through this 3.3V mod's cable, leading to the + contact of the cap ? I have a 5K Ohm trimmer which are usually suitable until 0.5W power. Would it be a good idea to connect this trimmer in series between 3.3V point and the cap, in order to reduce 3.3V to about 3.0V ? (Would it burn out or may I do it without risk of damage?).
That's why I'm interested in the current flowing to the 2 sticks @ 3.3V.
(So I need NOT the voltage, but AMPERS ... milliampers .. sorry for my English..)
Nobody? :(
the only thing that will happen is, that your adata will be killed ... there are Hynix D43 or D5 chips on it .. they don't like high vdimm anyway ..
Yeah! Don't do it or buy u some cheap Winbonds.
I disagree, I have a GEIL PC4000 (DRR500) that can do DRR550 at 2.9v; however, right now I'm running them at 3.3v (cable mod) and no problems at all. Those GEIL got Hynix D43 chips and love voltage. When voltage is below 2.8v after ~260 fsb pass, Memtest fails after tens of #5 passes, so for yours sticks @Eperkutyus I don't recommend anything lower than 2.85v, even GEIL supports them till 3.1vQuote:

u will have unless 8A in 3.3V line so 1/2W resistor won't be enough. U coul try to find a potentiometer w/ 10W 2ohms...Quote:

Geil have no own ICs, they relabel them like all the others! ;)
So if i make that 3.3v rail mod, do i need to care about the Vdimm voltage what i have set in Bios? Or i make the mod and vtt will track and i dont need to care about that bios setting?
correct BIOS settings makes no odds and vtt tracks.Quote:

damn, went from a 20w iron to a 30w and it melted two of the traces away while soldering
:slap:
I assume trying to test it out could fry my mem or CPU now?
dosn't matter what it's set to, it will be overridden by the mod. I'd set it to the lowest possible because that voltage afaik, is still being fed to some things, so it'll take a little bit of stress of things possibly.Quote:

The switch is rated for 6A at 125VAC, and 3A at 250VAV. I do not know the values for DC.
I think this switch should work just fine since the voltage is so low, right? I mean, when the voltage is halved (at high voltage) for AC, the max current is doubled (ohm's law).
I just do not want to blow or short my board :).
Also, is there an easy way to mount this onto a motherboard? I saw a picture where someone did this, and I am not exactly sure how it was done.
Thanks.
any idea if the 3.3v rail vdimm mod will work on the neo4-F/FI/platinum boards?
It will should be close to the same layout, but just poke around on the back of the mobo with a multimeter on cap legs near the dimm slots and find one that matches ur vdimm.
Been searching, and cant find overclocking threads for the k8n neo2-f.Is this the same board as the platinum. The bios on msi sight shows bios for both boards as same versions ie same numbers same size kb.The reason i ask this is. In my haste i ordered the neo2-f.It will be here tomorrow.Weather n the east permitting. The differences being lan and sound and whatever.Ive seen a couple using 146-148 opty's.Long story short; after burning my asrock sata2
to get 1t timing.
What bios do i use for opteron
Will modded bios work
Can i use same bios as platinum
Has any1 tried the universal 3.3 vdimm on this board .Im not a bad welder ,but these sodder mods i can't handle.
BTW THX n advance
Sorry if this has been said before, but I can't find any reliable information and am sorta confused.
I did the 3.3V rail VDimm mod (connected 3.3V rail to the + side of cap near memory).
Where do I put my multimeter leads to verify that my memory is indeed running at 3.3V?
My motherboard is the MSI K8N Neo2 PE (non-54G).
EDIT: Nevermind. Found it.
guys, i have been running the ddr booster and the durn things pisses me off as i could never get it to read exactly what the mem voltage was set to in the bios (always .2v or so off)
whats the easiest Vdimm mod for this MSI board now that people have different ones out?
http://www.lejabeach.com/MSIK8N/VdimmMod/k8nneo2-4.jpg is this the easiest way to get 3.2v or 3.3v to the memory?
need a v-core mod details for MSI K8N nforce3... i remember there being pictures but I don't see them anymore being shown in the links/pages
It would be nice if anyone culd give us some new pics on the vcore-mod. I need it!
thx m8´s
yea same here
done the Vdimm mod
Keen on doing the Vcore mod but around here, or lejabeach or anywhere every picture relating to Vcore ive found is dead.
Read everything ive found relating to it, but they all point out things on the dead pictures :(
Me too my winchesters want more and beter volts :p:
how the hell do you measure the v core? i saw pictures up here and followed them but got no voltage. I know how to use a multimeter... i'm measuring across the right side of the two inductors but get nothing
Nobody on xtreme systems can help me with pics or something to mod mij msi with vcore mod and more?
ZL1Killa, ground into the case, live wire you have to touch to the bottom of the inductor coils
Where they actually connect to the mobo..
http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/6...re20modwg3.jpg
pin 10 to grd
http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/3...gdimmsmlj0.png
AND START BY SETTING MAX VCORE IN BIOS MAKE SURE U SET HIGHEST RESISTANCE WHEN IN WINDOWS RUN CORE CENTER THEN SLOWLY TURN THE VR TO U GET THE VOLTS U WANT
IF YOU REACH THE OVP AND IT SHUTS DOWN TURN BACK THE VR OR MAKE A WAY TO DISCONNECT THE MOD BEFORE STARTING BACK UP
was wondering why the 2 pictures where off different motherboards
hence i did an edit since i figure'd out its cause they use the same chip to regulate heh
