Download the modifed flashorm fromhere:.
Have a good read while you're at it.
After that, download the ATI bios linked from that page.
Follow the instructions & you should be good to go.
As I stated in one of my earlier posts, this is the way I did it:
"Make sure that you save your old bios first, then use flashrom16 & empty.bin to empty the bios & then flash your VC's bios straight away with the lastest ATI X800XT PE bios (520/560)."

Thanks for posting the link to W1zzard's modified flashrom. After reading his page there, it looks to me like his method is the best because you can go back to 12 pipes if the card isn't fully functional with 16. Apparently, the Gigabyte flash method leaves you stuck with 16 pipes. Also you only have to flash once.Quote:

Issues: Seems to black screen on me after ATITOOL runs artifact tester for 80 seconds.
PSU shouldn't be an issue got a new OCZ PowerStream 520W running.

Temp is 54C loaded with ATITOOL.
Tried 4.10 and 4.11 both black screen me to death.. no graphics corruption, no artifacts/checkerboards just freezes comp and black screens.
Fixed the CLI.exe error by installing .net 1.1 But still blackscreens after 60 seconds of ATITOOL. Annoying cause I don't get any graphic corruption but still pos freezes the comp. I had AI disabled also.

I successfully flashed this model using the modified flash tool and the modified 16 pipe PRO VIVO BIOS. I verified that I had 16 active pipelines, and I saw a jump in the ATI Tool 3d View from 115 fps to over 320 fps. I flashed back to my original bios immediately since the temp went to over 75 C almost immediately with stock cooling. I believe I need to flash with the Gigabyte flash tool back to my original BIOS, since I reset the card to its original configuration (12 pipes, 115 fps) with the modified tool.
Use the modified flashrom to flash to the ATI X800 Pro VIVO 16P (AGP) 256 MB bios from here. That will give you 16 pipes and stock X800 Pro clocks.Quote:

My powercolor worked just fine. Really bad overclocker though, only 555/610 with AC silencer and 1.55 vgpu and 2.3 vdd. Tried every voltage up to those levels aswell. Got me some 32k with a 3700 @ 10x260 and bh-5 @ 2-2-2.
My Powercolor has a face with memory 2ns and the other face 1.6ns

question: Haven't tried to overclock yet but is there a difference as to which bios I use? the techpowerup.com library has an Asus X800XT PE bios. should I use that since its the same brand and someone said the Asus cards get around 1.44v to the vgpu as opposed to 1.41 for most other cards, or is there another bios that's providing some exceptional overclocking?
gpu at 40'C in 2d, haven't run anything intensive yet.
what does the A.I. function do? its in my Custom Settings for radlinker. and should I use OverDrive or manually overclock?

All the VIVOs have had equal success with flashing. Gigabytes are just as well as any other brand from all of the results I've seen.
I found a great deal on a Abit Rx800pro vivo and am going to get that this week if it stays in stock :upset:

I had a budget for either 68GT or X800 pro. My heart/gut feeling was on Gainward 6800GT. But most of my friends recommend me to get a X800 pro vivo and flash it to a XT PE. So I did. What a Freaking nightmare!
Flashing to XT PE went smoothly. Only when I started to test then S h i t Happened! Basically Artifacts, artifacts every Freaking where! See AquaMark below:

It was running 520/560 XT PE speed. I tried up the Gpu core voltage by pencil mod to 1.41v. that was no help. I was going to slap a MCW50 Gpu block onto it but it never got to that point. I tweaked the HSF to spin at Max. using AtiTool but that did not help either.
Finally I gave up hope and Flashed back to a X800 Pro. To my horror the artifacts still appeared after flashing back to X800pro. I tought that the Flash back got screwed up and checked in AtiTool and it detected 12 pipe lines. meaning flashing back was ok.
In the end I had to RMA the card. Got back a new one with 1.4v on the Gpu voltage. But now I'm reluctant to flash again. I replaced the default HSF w/ an Arctic Silencer. O/C results were not to shabby. 560/570 Core/Memory.

BBA x800 Pro flashed fine to official XT PE bios. 575 / 590 no artifacts with Zalman heatpipe + fan. Slight vmod. Going all out with water in a month :)

Only x800 Pro VIVO's can be flashed. No one knows if any of the x850 line of cards can be flashed.

x850 are just overclocked versions of the x800's. They're the same everything, just different pipes / clockspeeds.
If your x800 Pro is a VIVO you can flash it.

I think you're missing the point of flashing. XT / XT PE's (and x850 XT / XT PE's) have 16 pipelines. x800 Pro's have 12 pipelines. The VIVO cards come with the pipelines ONLY disabled in the BIOS of the card, so by flashing it to an XT PE bios, you enable those extra pipelines and get a nice big performance increase. With all other Pro's (non-VIVO's) the pipelines are not only disabled in the bios, but are physically laser cut off of the board itself, so flashing does absolutely nothing but mess up the card.
Flashing to an x850 will give you nothing.

I think it's ugly as hell. The x850 series is just for availability. It isn't anything new. The cards are barely overclocked versions of previous cards and are PCI-E, those are the only differences.
But that cooler looks like it would be pretty decent... Granted... I would rather get an x800 for the money and put it on water...

With stock cooler i couldn't bench 3D03 it just froze at 510mhz gpu, but i replaced it with old VGA Silencer (older one all aluminum) and im able to bench over 520mhz now, now it freezes over 530mhz, but i don't get any artifats, the card just freezes within few seconds in 3D

gocchin are you using 1600x1200 @ 85hz by any chance, i started using my pc at that resolution with the ax800 and 2d quality is so horible that i almost can't use it my 9800pro has much better 2D quality at that resolution. 1240x1024 is fine though but anything at and above 1600x1200 is bad. In text docs letters even are in green and brown not black. Anyone else have this prob with the x800 ?
My BBA in sig causes no issues. Desktop res is 2048x1536 @ 60 Hz.
GIGABYTE ATI X800 vivo flashed fine but the core speed maxes out about 20 mhz less than my ATI X800pro did.
Memory speed increased from 587-594 to 614mhz vs the X800pro card I replaced.
4 more pipes sure helps even at lower core speeds.
Oh it does, I don't have a link for benches, but I've heard experiences on HardOCP and it really does help, even with lower speeds.
First post, so excuse my ignorance. I have an ATI hardmodded x800pro. I am aware that it just takes a flash with the vivo's. I have however done the hard mod . Here's my problem or connundrum. After I flash my card to either an XT or 16pipe vivo, and run ATI tool, I show 16 pipes enabled. From everything I have read, when ATI tool shows 16 pipes enabled, they are enabled..correct me if I am wrong please. Now after this, when I reinstall the drivers , it automatically reverts back to only 12 enabled pipes showing in ATI tool. Surely there must be a step or a lock that i am missing here. If anyone has an idea , please let me know. I bought this before i realized the Vivo thing, but i feel like i am very close . I am not sure if it has something to do with ASIC ID( that's why I tried 16pipe vivo Pro flash also), or is there sometype of lock on the driver, or do I need a specific modified forced driver install different than what is on the catalysts?? Please help..I really want to get this done as I have a great card , I can run 550+ on memory and core with no artifacting , so I really would love to utilize those extra pipes. I hit 12500 on 3dmark03 with current rig, so looking for that little bit xtra.
ATI X800pro VIVO went to XT PE for me no problems. Worked like a champ.. To bad i traded it away.

No driver issues btw... before and after driver upgrade = 16 pipes
Look for the yellow plug on the back. The ones sold at CompUSA for the first week or two came with 16 pipes enabled, they were boxed wrong :p:

Got checkerboard artifacts whenever anything 3d is happening, not too bad in games but ATi Tool scan is pretty ugly.
Flashed empty.bin and back to Sapphire X800Pro VIVO, ie 12 pipes again, but still no good.
Any ideas?

Sapphire X800 Pro Vivo 1.6ns -> XT PE ATI BIOS (voltmod).
Before the voltmod I used the Sapphire XT BIOS 500/500, could only get around 509 MHz core. After voltmod I can go about 535 before artifacts. Will be getting an ATI arctic silencer later.
1 question: I'm using the latest Omega drivers, and I have 2 unknown devices show up when I start Windows. What are these? Something to do with VIVO?

Well as I said i my previus post I RMA´d my Gecube xchange it for the ASUS X800TVD that cost like 50$ more then the Gecube.
Flashed it with the Gigabyte bios, (16 Pipes enabled) worked like a charm and the card is even running 3Dmark03 stable on default clock settings :toast:
Now 1 question, will I get even more out of the card by flashing it with the X800XT Bios?? I mean for overclocking..
