But it still bothers you, thus you are expressing your feeling/s.

Are you just trolling or just completely did not understand my statement? I don't care about EA or its security or piracy etc etc. Besides I'm already very gainfully employed, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
That's true but there are stupid opinions. Many (most) people who purchase single player games probably don't finish them. Having a very late beta out in the wild a month before launch will invariably limit sales from such people because the beta is enough for them to occupy the limited attention they can devote to any single game. Instead of paying $50 at launch due to hype and getting bored with the game after a few levels/hours, they will pay $0 and get bored anyway. Still, the company is out $50 - i.e. the leak will impact sales.
steady guys

Most of the people currently downloading/playing the beta would have probably done the same after launch anyway so nothing lost there. What's lost is launch day hype which has now been replaced by leak hype. There's some population of people who have come across the free version because of all the (relatively) mainstream coverage and publicity of the leak and wouldnt have otherwise because they're not regulars on the piracy scene.
Can't find the statistic now but IIRC launch day/week/month sales account for a huge chunk of a title's revenue over its lifetime. If that initial rush of purchases is dampened by an early leak like this it could certainly mean millions in lost revenue.
id like to see some survey to prove that point before stating it. if its true then one can say that single player games are dead since MOST people never finish them even after paying for it.
not only is that factor missing, but many people would also wait for it to drop in price before even purchasing.
this is much more about the shock value of saying you have a beta you can play that you "acquired" rather than skipping the game all together and playing this beta. of the 10,000 people downloading this, i bet less than 1000 are lost sales.
Who said there are only 3 hours of gameplay?
Ive been playing single player for over 6 hours (on veteran difficulty) and still haven't finished the game yet.
And im generally pretty speedy at games ;)
Oh yeah - and its been pretty awesome so far. The graphics are great (lighting is very good) - cant wait to see what the final version looks like.
Here's one very recent survey on the topic - http://tbreak.com/megamers/18514/new...g-results.html
Add to that 15+ years of talking to friends and seeing anecdotal comments from random people on the internet and you can be sure that giving up on a single player campaign is not a rare phenomenon. It's not a new one either but it has gotten worse since we now have way more things competing for our attention so it's harder to devote enough time to one title in order to complete it. Single player games certainly aren't dead as a result though, people will keep buying them and keep not finishing them.
There is almost no reason for most people to ever buy a PC game at launch price or at full price.Quote:
not only is that factor missing, but many people would also wait for it to drop in price before even purchasing.
Single player games are spoiled once you have played through them, and if you can't max it out you aren't getting the full experience. Why get ripped off? You can wait till you have the hardware to enjoy it properly as it was meant to be seen a couple video card generations down the road, and get the game for a fraction of the price!
Now if you've got the cash to have shelled out for a rig that can max it out, than no reason not to waste cash on the full price.
With a console on the other hand, I know I can run it full tilt the moment it comes out, so the pre-order or at launch purchase makes sense.
Any sort of high end PC game pretty much auto drops into the "wait till I can run it buy it cheap" slot.
Some elements from san andreas should have stayed but drunk driving(driving is better period)+euphoria+better iq = worth being called new.Maybe you want gta mmorpg w/256 player servers.Where you have to micro mange the avatars life like the sims but in 3rd person gta style.

As you all have heard by now, an early, incomplete build of Crysis 2 has been leaked online. While we are deeply disappointed by these events, we are all completely overwhelmed by the support we have received from you, our community.
Despite this unfortunate incident, we can assure you that PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future. We are all still focused on delivering a great gaming experience to our true and honest fans. I hope you will enjoy Crysis 2 on PC, as we think it is our best PC game yet!
We appreciate all of your continued support, and look forward to playing online with you soon!
Thank you,
Cevat Yerli
Correction:
The United States was founded as a direct result of tyrrany. The singular time we've embraced Piracy was when the Sons of Liberty boarded British ships in Boston Harbor, dumping their tea into the water.
The British on the other hand funded and supported piracy for hundreds of years. If you wanted to rob French or Spanish ships, all you had to do was apply for a permit with the local British Governor and agree to give him part of the loot. hehe.
Personal attacks are not acceptable on Xtremesystems. Grow up.Quote:
Wow. This guy is not only a math wiz, but he's a psychic as well. He actually assumes all these people who downloaded this beta would actually pay $60 for this game if they couldn't get it for free.
Everyone knows there are stupid opinions. Saying there aren't reminds me of the idiocy that has infected western culture, especially pertaining to how kids these days get "participation awards" and other such nonsense. The ideology of having no winners and losers that has permiated society will eventually lead to it's downfall.
You obviously haven't been in the Military.Quote:
I liked the first Crysis even though "Prophet" sounded like a self righteous knob.
Ah, privateering. But you know, pretty much everyone was doing it back then. During much of Louis XIV's reign, most of France's income (would be called GDP today) came from ransacking every ship that passed anywhere near Frech waters.
Fun fact!
a bit of history never hurt anyone
VVVVVV
OT much? Seriously, none of this is related to the original topic.
What topic? Game got leaked, we all get to point fingers at each other over who wants to spend the least amount of money over a product not worth the asking price.
someone post some nudes in here to lighten the mood.
i would but my girlfriend doesnt like me showing off ;)
Lets try to turn this thread around...
Where the hell are Nomad and Psycho in Crysis 2?
anyway to unlock the frame over 62???
try sys_maxfps = 0.
Although, my don' save changes. Each time i quit ans start the game, all setting are default. can this be cured?
Anyone else thinks that you dont run as fast in the new Crysis 2 game as you did in the older Crysis game?
its system.cfg
put all those setting lines in there and save.
Though i can't get the game running. might be a crappy version. heard that there are two leaked versions on the net. probably got the wrong one.
Just completed single player :)
Its a good 7 hours long (not 3 hours like some people said).
Graphics are great and the story is great too. FPS was pretty stable throughout too. I thought the game was a bit easy at first (I was playing in hard/veteran mode) - then I realised the beta automatically drops the difficulty back down to normal at the start of each level - so i ended up playing through the majority of the game on normal.
you can put the same stuff in system.cfg in the main folder.
Im stuck at the part where you are in a library with 4 nano suits, and there is a guy in some chamber. So i got the new big gun by the guy in a sleeping chamber, but now i dont know what to do. I cant shoot anything.
listen to the dialoge or watch your objective... but i guess your at the part where your have to take the syringe that emerges form the desk.. :p:
other forums are deleting such things for a good reason. it's just lame. we're not on a warez board here. i think we crossed the line a few pages back and i have no idea why mods tolerate this topic to such a degree.
More evidence that this is an xbox 360 build: the game will freeze duing almost every cutscene, as long as your sys_spec isn't = 5 (xbox360 mode) and resolution is 1440x900. If you upset either of those, cutscene freezes.
It runs on PC because development is obviously done on PC and the engine is cross-platform (so why not?), but this specific build I suspect came from someone on the xbox 360 team / supply chain.
crying about what people do is lame. crying about people talking about a leaked game and getting upset that YOU read the thread and learned about spoilers is lame. calling members at XS lame is lame. Indirectly telling admins/mods to shut this thread down because YOU dont approve is lame. Trying to rebuttal what im saying is also LAME.
this is relevant news, I think the thread is valid, I don't see any illegal link, or illegal information being shared here to be honest, I think people are mostly behaving themselves and the most off topic posts are from people complaining and asking the thread to be deleted...
anyway, the game is quite nice indeed, great art direction, soundtrack and etc...
worth buying when it's released (but I don't agree with 60 USD price...)
I don't know the effect this leak will have, but I tested the leaked Hl2 back in 2003 I think and later bought the retail game and enjoyed it, but in that case the leaked version was quite different from the final game... anyway, it's quite common to see leaked console games, and the best way to prevent this is controlling more effectively who have access to this, blaming Torrents websites or whatever makes no sense...
Well play.com has the limited edition for 33€
Rules are quite clear really :
Quote:
Threads discussing anything related to unlawful activities will be removed (this includes piracy)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=226784
;)
This thread isn't about piracy in the form of telling people to go download said game. This is NEWS....thats like saying..dont talk about a bank robbery..
the only thing i can see being "shut down" or "deleted" are people playing it, but at the same time its NOT a final build, it isn't for sale and never will be. Its not hurting anything other then giving publicity for the game which is possibly the best thing for it.
But talking about the game/watching video's on youtube and discussing isn't piracy or illegal...just like discussing something you saw on tv that someone did illegally and casting your opinion on it ;)
I would have expected this thread to be closed but apparently its still open. I'll wait for the retail version to hit stores then I'll get it, hopefully the final version will be more optimized but I'm not holding my breathe.
might as well, this leaked build is so bugged that it's not worth the annoyance to play it to completion.
stop playing the victim. it's not me who's playing a leak that's only available illegaly.
i don't blame you that you downloaded and played it, but it's a different thing to talk about that as if it's a totally legit thing to do. and that's exactly what i'm worried about.
developers and publishers more and more use the topic piracy to legitimate everything they do to constrain pc development and everytime there's an outcry from the pc community that this isn't true etc...
now look at you guys in this thread. what are you people doing here? don't you feel dumb to prove the claims and cases of these developers and publishers right over and over again? talking about sawing off the branch you're sitting on.
because i'm part of the XS community. every other community site i visit handles this topic very strictly and a lot of deletion took place.
to cover the leak in a thread/news item is fine, but if people start to post tons of screenshots, configs, walkthroughs etc. i really think it went too far.
i don't want to encourage the mods to start a thread massacre here, it's too late now anyways.
Exactly. It's not just news in this topic anymore, people downloading it, telling others how much fps they get etc etc, the list goes on. Announcing that a game has been pirated is one thing, openly discussing pirated software and actively contributing to the pirating it is a big no no on any forum.
I was surprised when I saw that people were documenting their playing of the beta, personally the fact that the game was leaked reminded me to order it. And I don't really feel like downloading the beta/alpha right now as I don't want to see it like that. Now if it was a game I wasn't that bothered about I would already have downloaded it and proved that it was :banana::banana::banana: to myself
:\, You guys do understand that pirating means "to sell" ^^...
And besides it's legal, in the usa to keep copies of stuff you don't own the rights to up to 24hrs.
Unless bush changed that law, I don't know, it was put in place by clinton.
That and if it's not licensed in your country, it's perfectly legal to do whatever you want with it, even sell it as a bootleg.
Hence these days, specifically anime, they tend to license it asap well before they release it in other countries.
Though in this case it's likely already been licensed by the distributer.
Anyways just relax ;).
The whole reason why it was leaked was to show it off ;).
I'm just gonna wait it out, since I never played the 1st one.
Not sure if I'll bother with this game or not, depends if I'm bored enough I guess.
I'm more interested in the new cod coming out this year supposedly anyways :).
wow the thread still open...
some of you guys are now talking about the game it self and core files, how to mod the cfg files to get more FPS, and not the news (that is not so new any more) about the game being leak...
im not playing victim to anything. just over hearing about how XS should run its site and how morally wrong this is..dont like it, dont read/post in it. I promise you not one person that disagrees with you, cares what your saying. And apparently neither does any mod...this will get closed but not from whats been going on..but that this thread is way off topic now with people like you wanting to close it. Just read another thread let this thread go in the direction it is/was and if a mod/admin sees unfit, let them close it/delete posts that break the rules.
That's all :)
Last time i checked, which is this morning, is that Crytek is not doing a single thing to stop the spread of beta leak, preventing people from talking about it, posting movies on youtube, or trying to take down all screen shots all over the net.
Why? Because Crytek wants us to talk about it as much as possible. Its saves them $$millions in advertisement. And they get a feedback at the same time, giving them the needed time to make the changes to make the game even better.
Thus by talking about the game, we are doing Crytek a huge favor!
So quit your crying and save your morals for someone who needs it.
p.s. I am going to buy this game, but because there are lot of to do besides killing. You can collect items, like dog tags, and souvenirs and car keys, emails. Its like a treasure hunting while killing everyone on the process. Yeah, now you are pissed cause i spoiled the game for you. You shouldn't have read the thread then.:p:
^ ill also be purchasing this game. I didnt bother with the first two because i played the actual beta mp and didnt care for it at all. So i dl'd the game to test my 8800gtx and core2duo on a 24" lcd and it was doable til the snow then it was constant lag.
This game however looks a lot better as well as seems like will have a more enjoyable MP
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...c-march-1.aspxQuote:
PC gamers will get their chance to put Crysis 2 Multiplayer through its paces on March 1. The PC multiplayer demo appears to be the same as that on the Xbox 360, featuring two maps and two modes. Both maps showcase a shelled Manhattan, with “Skyline” placing players on ragged rooftops and “Pier 17” in an open environment where cover is a luxury.
^ idk if it means that or the fact the demo is the same ie you will be playing the same levels as the xbox as well as the same modes that were released.
So...is EA going to go ballistic today again now that Bullitstorm has been leaked on PS3 and Xbox?
Performance review from a beta = fail...
gives you an idea what to expect, most likely the big optimizations have already been done, newer drivers tweaks from AMD/NVIDIA can change a few FPS here and there; DX10 (DX11?) mode might change outcome too; but don't think the overall "ranking" will change much.
in a way it kind of makes sense to do a performance review on the beta, once the game is out, there will be another review and more then likely they will compare the numbers, Crytek is claiming that the beta is not optimized, well i guess we will find out when the numbers are out.
Some clerk at Walmart, Bestbuy or Gamestop.
This is completely normal in the world of gaming and movies, since many people get their hands in retail copies weeks before the release date.
Crysis 2 beta is different since it was a real leak out of Crytek's offices. It was not mean to be in anyone's hands aside from the developer's.
That makes it even more ironic, because a retail dvd hitting the intertubes is something you can't stop, whereas an internal and unfinished build of your product is something that should never leave the dev boxes inside the office.
Crytek is complaining about piracy in virtually the only case where piracy is not the issue.
True true but there's really no harm in it I thinks.
Gives people the idea if they can run the latest gen games or not with there hardware.
Though a when the final does come out the results from the beta go out the window.
I personally don't much care for tessellation with it's current implementation on nvidia card's, to blocky.
But then it's nice in some ways to have it blur things like it would in real life...
Still, not a feature I would scream for.
It's used on games to sim' eye focus and heat haze, stuff like that ;).
You see it accure in for example, bad company 2 in dx 10/11? mode.
I like it, but I don't like the resolution of it, seems like either 4, 8 or 16 pixal accuracy or something.
Blocky I mean.
It's something I'de like to see improved apon in the future.
Along with nvidia raw triangle rendering offset bugs..
That and if amd/ati fixed there driver mip bais setting(registry) it would be a perfect world..., or maybe the end of the world, one of the 2... :D
lol marlboro-marijuana Smoke all day :yepp:

Ahh peer pressure...
Don't tempt me lol, I've been without for 3 whole days.
you repeat over and over again that crytek doesn't have any problem with these things, but how do you know?
if smth made it to the internet it's impossible to stop, so that's probably the reason they don't even bother wasting time and money trying to stop smth that actually can't be stopped.
this doesn't make the whole thing any better, you know.
just because a lot of people/sites/whatever freely talk/write about the content of the leak doesn't make it rightful.
i pointed that out quite a few times already, but you seem to be pretty good at ignoring it.
like i said. you don't even try.
i'm out of this thread for good.
I dont care about the trolls, i enjoy shoving them back in to the hole with my right foot.
Crytek said and i quote "While we are deeply disappointed..".
http://news.bigdownload.com/tag/crysis-2
Saying im disappointed, doesnt mean a whole lot in the legal sense.
I imagine EA/Crytek are more than happy for all the free publicity this is generating them, all things considered.
But I guess we'll see. Who knows, maybe they'll start sending out C&Ds soon.
Personally, I don't really care if the site is using a pirated copy. Data is data, and by viewing their website (does not clicking on their ads generate revenue?) I don't think I'm promoting their behaviour unless I click on an ad.
