maybe once i really start overclocking i;'ll have to hit one of you guys up to figure out which bios is the best for it.
Back to 1.53...
1.80 is buggy...
1. It doesnt work with my Mushkin 2x2GB 1600 CL9-9-9-24 RAM.
2. The System stops responding every 3-4 hour, God knows why.
1.53 best so far...
ASrock Extreme 3 won the Hwbot IGP contest, we never imagined it would be possible on what they call a budget brand :p Plus we did an IGP WR on 3Dmark03 and 05 loooooooooool
I'm still myself on 1.2 bios with the 965 and 8Gb of Corsair 1600C8 rams (Thx Rol-Co for that bios)... does all I need... just need to retest the 1090T on the newer biosses...
memory QVL doesn't list OCZ gold 1600c8 lv (OCZ3G1600LV4GK). does that matter?
no you should be fine with that
Well... 1.80 is realy not good bios for me...
Much problem with GPU's, CPU's and RAM...
Mushkin won't work at all...
Witch 1.53 the board works the best for me...
ordered the 880G version, great price for all the features it offers.
the 880G Extreme3 bios page on asrock.com lists the 1.20 version. the boards are identical sans the IGP clocks, so i wonder if this bios is any different from the 890GX. when matching the release dates, the 1.20 (880G) might be the 1.60 (890GX). i'll let you guys know.
new user of this fantastic board...juz got it from newegg last thursday...works well with my crucial ballistix blue tracers :D
congratz hpv500 .......realy nice board.
1.8 bios works fawless here, no problems found yet.
I have AHCI enabled but can't see Safely Remove Hardware icon. Disks connected on eSata supporting AHCI and NCQ are recognized but I can't find a safe way to disconnect them, I can just go into diskmgmt.msc and put them "offline".
Driver is "amd ahci compatible raid controller".
The are plug&play, dont break Your head. :)
...the FX version is available now here in HK since last week i think
Ordered the ASRock 890FX Deluxe3 from NewEgg yesterday.
Long-time Asus user here. 1st time trying out ASRock. Hope it doesn't disappoint ...
I hope it as good as the GX model... good luck, report back plz
Just have X2 555BE batch 1008EPMW. But it can't unlock. So this is my setting for daily. But why default vcore different with another X2 555BE?? My X2 555BE 1,36v on bios. But I have another X2 555BE (same batch) 1,135v.
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/3066/4ghzd.jpg
The 3 is a pretty sweet board. Glad i went for it over the much more expensive asus
Does any of you guys have problem with blue slots? I tried them with different memory but no boot, only with white ones...
And cpu-z acts weird, it shows different frequency than real one, lower for few seconds, normal for few seconds, higher fo few seconds and so on in circles
http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/4162/4350oc.jpg
Use BIOS older than 1.80, then it works fine...
1.80 and 1.80A are not that good...
1.53 best so far...
Which BIOS do you recommend for Thuban?
I dont have any thuban yet... But try 1.53 or 1.51... Best so far..
New to these forums, however I did just order a FraggleRock 880G Extreme 3, to replace my BIOSTAR TA890GXE, which is being RMA'ed.
I decided after sifting through numerous boards to finally give one a try, hopefully everything works out...
Ill be happy just getting at least 3.6ghz out of my 1055T on air with it ;)
@Cele
FX version should be in Croatia in 2 weeks..
i also have this awesome board with 1055T, and this is my current max OC-ed results

New 1.95 beta bios
890GXE195.zip
fixes the sideport problem
Thanks...
Hope it Fix the RAM problems (first slots dont respond and many vendors do not work since 1.80).
Nope mate first slots are crap (on most boards anyway) stuck there around 1780mhz, white ones do 1820mhz dead easy...
Is this mobo worth trying? How does it manage to keep the set VCore under load... aka how much VDROOP under load does this board have?
1.95 -> Fix the RAM problem, now all RAM work in first blue slots...
This mobo is really great mate, for the vcore it depends per CPU... the Thuban slightly overvolts here when loaded, other Phenoms have got about 0.06 droop/drop eg I set 1.35 in the bios it will be around 1.29 under load on my sample board... but the power circuitry is really good as it kept going at 1.9Vcore set for more than 4 hours in a row under LN2...
Ofcourse if you are looking for max ram performance there's only one option : the FX
I am still using bios 1.0 and got nice results with my X2 555. Not sure if i should upgrade the bios and fix what ain't broken.
I got my 880G in and my wiring finally done for the moment, I need to mess around with it and get oc'ing some when I have time.
Oh and by god is the stock fan that comes with the 1055T annoying as all hell, I need a new cooler asap :ROTF:
Try BIOS 1.20...
Its based on BIOS 1.00, not on 1.19,
you could have unlock X4 stable.
With BIOS 1.00 non of my 555 and 550 could stable unlock,
first stable unlock was with 1.19 and 1.20.
Bios Database:
http://www.pctreiber.net/forum/index...c,13303.0.html
So if this overvolts with Thuban, that's fking awsum ^^ Just the way I want it.Quote:

Now I'm thinking of "Asrock 890FX Deluxe3", it's not expensive either... 132€.
I also have one 555 which goes ~4050MHz 1.4875V when unlocked. So it's interesting to see if it can be pushed further with 890gx/fx, now it's having a party with 785G.
have tried bios 1.2 but random BSOD although only using firefox, updated to 1.8 got random freeze, end up flashed to 1.53 without any problems...quite stable in my opinion...
I got the same problems and RAM stability...
Use 1.95, works like a charm...
1.53 too.
1.80 and and 1.80A are bad.
Didnt try 1.71 and 1.73, because i got 1.95 before them...
All ASRock BIOS-es at one place:
http://www.pctreiber.net/forum/index...c,13303.0.html
880G is preaty new...
Her time will come...
ASRock push most of the work for the 890GX.
The FX is not as popular as they where thinking,
and it is because of the desing of the board.
The 890FX looks worse than GX, has less connectors for the fans, has a 40mm fan (how loud could it be?),
and there are more FX boards that give you more for some extra bucks...
880G looks great too, its 890GX full design...
I havent tested it yet, but shure i will.
Have testet the 770 Extreme 3, and it is a great board for the price...
Can somebody post their oc settings for a 1055t around 4ghz. I have just moved my 1055t from my Asus M4A785D-M PRO where it was stable at 1.5v 14x286 nb 2860 ht 2860 4gb ram nb 1.3v. On the asrock running 4gb ram fails instantly at 14x286 1.52v nb 1.4v tried bios 1.95/1.80
Use bios P1.80 and use the old trux +1 fan silverstone (take from PSU)....
But why between CPUZ and Asrock OC Tuner different when read voltage???thx
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/9295/x375541ghz.jpg
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
The BIOS are buggy, it does the same exact thing with the 880G, I use CPUID to monitor volts and temps.
It's not a bugg at all ...Oc tuner shows the value of voltage set in the bios, it doesn't know when the voltage is fluctuating. It read's only the value set on bios.
Actually the motheboard overvolts the voltage set in bios even in load especially at more than 1.5v
4100 ?! Athlon X3? Which cooling?
4100 because the fact the chip is revision C3.
On yours mobo multi x4 for mem works fine?
On mine x4 for mem dosent work at all, x3,33 works fine. It doesnt matter how high or how low mem are going.
I use many different bios.
I can't pass 860-880 with any timings and multi with 890GX Extreme3
(from 6-7-6-21-27-1T to 9-10-9-28-42-2T, other sub timings "AUTO" :(
3.33x is tiny bads of 4.00x for me.
I use 1055T, bios 1.8 and now 1.95B, with G.skill DDR3 2000 -GBHR.
For daily, works fine with 272x14 - 2.66x multiplier, memory at 724 6-7-6-21-27-1T - 1.675V.
Max stable (Memtest86+ 4.01, test 5 - 20 passes) is 750 - 1.683V
coming from dc opty 939 this thing is faaaaaaast :D
testing my 1055T right now:
htt @ 334
cpu @ 3840 (x11.5) 1.43v
nb @ 2672 (x8) 1.41v
ht @ 2000 (x6)
ram @ 1333 6-6-6-18-24-2T 1.62v
windows 7 pro x64... prime95 some 40 minutes in.
i'll get to 4ghz with some luck. i think it was stable at 4ghz one time with nb/ht/ram dropped to a minimum, but it needed like 1.48v and the 880G overvolts about 0.05v on load according to bios and cpu-z. not that software readings can be trusted, but all programs are indicating a voltage bump on load. i guess it's better than a voltage drop like on asus boards.
the 880G is a pretty solid board so far. BIOS 1.0 it came with was very buggy and unstable, but BIOS 1.4 seems to do everything i want. Turbo and CnQ are actually turned off now that i've told them to. also the bios profiles are a plus, but i already had that on my previous 939 dfi cfx3200. rams were unstable at stock on the outer two (white) slots so i placed them in the blue slots and everything is fine. so people, take note! as this can also the case with the 890gx.
i'll keep you guys posted on whether i can get this chip any higher (now that the AS5 has set in a little).
Does anybody have the FX model?
Im asking myself how loud is the 40mm fan...
If it is too loud, it should be replaced by Sharkoon 40mm fan, that is wery thick and silent...
^ try the other ram slots, and maybe drop the vcore since it's probably overvolting to 1.6v.
my NB needs way too many volts past 2.5ghz and i'm starting to believe it's not my NB but rather the board.
also, i was priming once at 3900mhz 1.45v (1.5v cpu-z) and it shut down, upping the volts toward 1.485v didn't help. i have a strong PSU so it isn't that, and the VRM should be adequate right? seems like some sort of over current protection still. could be that 1.4125v NB is just way too much.
I still have the voltage issue, where it seems like CnQ is kicking in, even though I have everything set to not make it so. It either gets better (Less often) or worse depending on what I have Vcore set at, which is kind of odd...
This board seems to love voltage, you would think it would at least benefit from it
Why you use such a high fsb, 334 and such a low multiplier, you just increase the effort on cpu and mb when you can use a higher multiplier and a lower base.Quote:
htt @ 334
cpu @ 3840 (x11.5) 1.43v
nb @ 2672 (x8) 1.41v
ht @ 2000 (x6)
ram @ 1333 6-6-6-18-24-2T 1.62v
windows 7 pro x64... prime95 some 40 minutes in.
I recomand you to use
cpu @ 4ghz (286 x 14) 1.5v
NB 2288 (x8) 1.25v
HTT 2288(x8)
Try this and if it works than you can raise the NB to x10 to 2860.
I think than the motherboard becames unstable at more than 300 FSB, base clock.
I have the fx board and the fan is quiet. This board is very good and stable, May not have all the options as the big boys in the bios. It has all you need plus floppy and ide if you still need them. Running 1090t at 4.0 MHz and volts are very stable on this board.( prime95 x 6). This board is a sleeper or should i say a keeper.
Thanks. :) Nice clock BTW: :p:
I have the 890GX, and love the layout... FX layout is realy not as good for me,
890GX/880G rocks...
But the FX gives You more for OC-ing...
BTW - Im so happy that the GX doesnt have the IDE and FLOPPY connector,
because it is dead for me. :)
@ elpibe10 - Nice picture, more please... :hump:
Anybody having trouble posting after a cmos clear using a graphics card, try cmos clear pull the card and boot from the onboard
About this 40mm fan - It doesnt matter, if he is loud or not. FX have bigger radiator than GX, + 40mm fan. If that 40mm is loud, take him out. GX is running on lower rad, so FX goes well with out the fan.
But I have GX and I think, on GX the rad should be bigger.
Heres the thing, I have vcore set at 1.4 *which oddly enough is their default* I don't have this problem at all now, its when I try to run anything lower.
If it were a heat issue, it would be happening at the higher voltage and not vice versa.
There are a lot of things I wish I could change with the board, mainly the bios, and the finicky "ASRock OC Tuner" but hey.
aha, i'm in the same boat. i never had CnQ kick in until i was running 1.35v 3500mhz. Disabling Cool n Quiet in bios does nothing.
running a 8+ hour prime blend stable 258*14 now (3600 mhz), 1.3625 vcore, but i have to force the p-state table with K10stat so it doesn't jump up and down all the time. at 3500 mhz CnQ wasn't an issue (so it didn't matter in windows/idling) but at 3600 it causes stability problems (clock interrupt BSODs), i guess when the frequency jumps up faster than the vcore that goes with it, and causes instability for a fraction of a millisecond.
this 880G needs some work now that i've gone to know it. unbootable HTT@ 290-300, high vcore jumps under load causing load stability but idling the vcore is too low and the system locks up (imagine that :/ ). CnQ issues as noted. also i tried the gimmicky "instant boot" utlity but i don't think the board is supported yet, it doesn't instant boot anything. the OC tuner is unstable clocking the HTT bus and applying multies doesn't work (K10stat does work for multies/vcore). also, AMD overdrive doesnt load and hardlocks the system, same goes for AMD fusion utility.
list goes on. hopefully it all comes down to a BIOS update.
Yes, I'm glad you posted that, everyone thinks I'm crazy :shakes:
I'm running 3430mhz, 245x14 @ 1.4v vcore, HT and FSB at 2450 @ 1.3v 24/7 stable.
I really should be able to go higher, but keeping the idle OC stable is the problem, it takes way more volts than it should, and under load you gain .04 to .06 volts making it to high resulting in unnessary heat.
I still have a week and a half to get my board back to Newegg, which I might do and just poney up and try something else.
Anyone know how to change chipset voltage on this thing?
It only has 'NB Voltage' just below CPU Vcore but this is actually CPU NB voltage not chipset nb voltage.
Going nuts trying to find it.
U can change it in OC Tuner. Default seems to be 1.15V.
3600 mhz here, 258*14*10*10, with turbo to 3870 mhz (not sure if it works all the time though, sometimes tmonitor (realtime core freq meter) doesn't budge while it should). turbo DISABLED in bios, otherwise it won't boot since the stock turbo (without k10stat loaded) is 16.5x multi which results in 4.25ghz.
if you haven't yet tried k10stat i recommend you do. on the fly p-states changes etc, it's quite handy. and if you enable turbo (in k10stat not in bios) hopefully you can let the turbo multies kick in (i.e it kicks in 16x on a 1, 2 or 3 threaded app, it doesn't when all cores are utilised).
otherwise i won't blame you for swithing to an asus or similar. i'm gonna have to deal with this one. i have the money but won't spend a dime on this system for the time being. i hope future bios updates will resolve most of the issues, but i don't think the vcore jump is gonna change. it's probably "hardcoded" in the VRM or whatever. so i'll have to compensate the lower idle vcore with CnQ for lower idle clocks.
last thing i'll say is that i haven't tried remounting my HSF. i think maybe i have a bad mount or the IHS is concave which gives me +10°C load temps. i have primed some cores individually at 4ghz with 1.3750v bios (1.43v load?) and it seemed to do okay which is a good sign.

I meant more overclocking results later. :)
Here is one:http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=6293142.jpg
do some prime man
nice clocks you have there FXT
keep on pushing to the xtreme :D
I decided to keep my board, I haven't messed with k10stat yet, I haven't had time, work etc. Plus trying to find a board with the kind of layout that the 890/880G share for the price is nearly impossible, sigh.
I need to RMA my video card now, its giving me GSOD's and some other issues, once I get my new card in I will piss around with the board some more.
With your push/pull setup on the cooler, did you order a second set of fan clips, or just use zip-ties?
Here is my quick test: http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=6299955.jpg
Using quite loose timings, but fix that later... ;)
Priming now NB:2288 and 1525MHz 8.8.8.20 2T.
All my tests are in small FFTs.
