Then my company's CTO might have a few questions for me :bananal:
It would be fun just for the test though, but most machines are intranet only.
Is there a way to 'boinc' offline?

Well, I thought maybe you could feed the tasks/results via USB flash drive or whatever.. :(
Woo-Hoo...I cracked into the the 900's in less than a month
Can't wait to get my Q9650 dropped into my home pc :D
I was ranked 184 year ago and now 500.
Looks like I will have to turn another computer on to reclaim my position :)
Those servers can have internet, but are on intranet for security reasons..
I am falling from top100 RAC like a stone, time to fire up more heavy artillery :yepp:
How often does the image update? The rate of change confuses me, as it only shows 250ish when it should be in the multiple thousands if its a daily update?
This is Boinc stats for WCG only. Also keep in mind that boinc points are 1/7th wcg points. It updates twice a day for what you see here.
The RAC (recent average credit) can take some time to change and in some cases can be way off from allprojectstats.com. The other site used alot is FreeDC for stats.
Well I reached easily top 1000 during the Supercomputer Week :)
As I'm new here, I have noob question: what does "Rank for this date" mean in the Free-DC user stats? It still keeps getting better even though I hardly crunch anymore. It says #8 now, but that can't be #8 within XS no?
That means you are at #8 of everyone that joined WCG on the same day as you.
EDIT: When you look at it here: http://boincstats.com/stats/user_sta...8674&co=&date=
You can click the link for the join date and see how joined that date and see how you are doing compared to the others/
WooHoo! Finally got off the bottom page of the list...
Ranked @#889 right now. I've left one machine as a dedicated cruncher since SCW, as well as letting the main rig run when I'm on the internet.
I'll let it run the rest of the month and see where my utility bill falls.
I've actually been moving up the list pretty quickly....
It makes me happy. :yepp:
Daveburt; you'll start chewing through the people that arn't crunching anymore :D
It feels good to climb the ladder. It's like personal challenges every step of the way.
Does anyone know why the chart isn't working in the first post?
I'm a WCG noob, and I liked looking at it to get an idea of how I was doing... :(
Maybe someone could offer a link for the info.
Not sure what's up with the chart, but you can look up your own stats. I like using the BOINCstats site. Search for your name.
So I joined the XS WCG Team for SCW, I started with an Athlon 64x2, and Athlon 64, and a P4. The 2 single core machines are offline because of power problems, and my dual core machine has been down the last 2 days because of power problems also. But my rank on the boinc and wcg stats keeps going up.
That means an awful lot of people stopped running boinc after SCW.
That is sad.
A lot of people I know keep saying that they wish they could do more to help make the world a better place. But I when I bring up WCG/F@H/etc. they can't be convinced to join.
So here is my idea, Could XS start a "Donate your Cycles to WCG for the Holidays"?
Maybe convince a couple vendors to put some items up as prizes, and then count WCG WU's turned in as raffle entries for the prizes?
Just an idea to give more people incentive to do a good thing for what amounts to almost no personal effort besides installing the client and joining the team.
Woohoo! #200
7 mil WCG
1 mil BOINC
oh yea! #100!
Way down at #711 total but #140 in RAC. Finally caught desnudopenguino in RAC rank, been chasing him for weeks.
I looked over my shoulder and what did I see?
Why, it's Toolius, a creepin' up on me
A couple of months, that's all it'll take
I'll be steamrollered for goodness sake
Hit number 99 on the team!
Congrats Retro:clap: keep it up!!!
indeed! congratulations
Just started with this and i'm a real noob started on a pc from my work and will boot up with 2 other pcs tonight :)
Welcome aboard!  There's a lot of fine folks here with a lot of expertise if you need help with anything. :)
BTW, you can also use your GTX280 to fight disease by signing up with GPUGRID. Click image in my sig for more info. We've also got a Xtreme GPUGRID Team forum (kinda quiet over there lately).
Good Luck!
Got two pc's up and running need to swap mobo's after the weekend then i`ll look into the gpugrid.
All my pcs do all day is download and run X3tc in the background :P when i'm not at home.
Can anyone tell me how to get a nice sig with stats posting ^^
After the weekend swapping DFI mobo for Asus mobo, installing watercooling...and my case so it wil fitt 2 240MM rads.. so no numbers crunching on this pc but a good thing i have a back-up :P,
if someone has an idea of how to mod 2 240 mm rads in a coolermaster stacker 832... XD
WhooHoo!...cracked the top 100 for RAC...I'm at 95 and climbing quickly :)
Should top out at ~6000 RAC in about a week
Did you see this? http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...tats-sig-guide. Hoping you meant that the stats numbers stay current (updated regularly)
Yeah already fixxed me a nice sig :) but thanks for the link Oldchap
I was just kind of checking my stats and didn't realize how much an extra 4k BOINC/day feels:

Woot! 2 years 2 days to move into 50th in team ranking. Not bad for part time crunching on a team like XS. :yepp: Today was a personal best @ 420,042. :D If only I could afford to run like this 24/7 365, I'd be doing some taunting. I've been blessed to have gotten this far. :) 1800 KWH per month just isn't in my future. :(
Good job, man! You're an inspiration to the rest of us. Just over 18 months for me and in the top 100. :woot:
Looks like you guys are in a hurry. I'm taking it easy. 4.5 years for me now and still not in the top 100.:ROTF:
Just peeked in at 200th in a little over a year. I feel proud today :)
Congrats, Bluestang!
I was just about to break into the top 100. Then PolRoger, SMTB1963, Krjalone, Ottarfu and Vinas1 all ran me over in the last few weeks and now I sit at 105. Guess I can be the caboose, choo choo :D
I hit number 90 in team rank for total BOINC output. Feels awesome! Seems like it took forever to just get past Mystic Merlin.
I just need to keep SMTB1963 at bay to maintain my number #1 position on sign-up date:

Good Luck :D
how do i get my name in that list?
wcg/boinc username is mars27
You are on the list, 189 is your team rank and 106 is rac rank.
:woot:
Made sapphire today!:
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/9621/capture5at.jpg
I made it to my year of birth in the team rank : 77
Well done you!
Of course that was a lot more difficult for MM :sofa:
I was only implying that the hardware was not as good when you started :wasntme: honest :ROTF:
Not only was the hardware as good but it didn't break down, generate heat or use electricity AND it was cheap! :D

That's one of them FANCY countin' gadgets with a STICK betwixt the rocks, innit! Dang new-fangled whiz-a-ma-jigs!
I'll play this silly game, how does that work then??? seems to combine a Senary and Ternary system...I suppose decimal was too easy back then.
c'mon Dave teach me :D
It's based on the idea that x of these equals y of those. I've seen guys use these things and they can be FREAKY fast in experienced hands.
I remember who made that computer now,....... It was the first Digit(al) with the bead rate issues
The company was called Sum Ting Wong
Still a good effort retro77 (remember where this started) :D
 Indeed, thank you

Who's number 77?
This guy

TRN going to overtake the #1 spot, really well done man!
Is it possible a 3570k@4Ghz has 27460 points with 41 results at its best day and a 3770k@3.82Ghz has only 32536 points with 43 results?
From time to time things on a particular machine get a bit out of step. You have to remember that part of the way that points are awarded has to do with the figures generated by the benchmarking.
These are used by a machine to calculate points claimed. Some projects give points claimed rather than the more normal average between the machines that validated the WU.
Apart from me choosing which project to run on my 2600K @ 4.7 I have not used any other tricks but if it is in the chart today you will see it is claiming very high these past few weeks. I am not complaining because my windows 3770K does the opposite (to a lesser degree).

http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?p...hostid=1553316
Remember too that points on a particular day may include a bunch that move from being pending to validated but were completed on previous days
Can you say Bun-Bun steamroller 10x fast

'Grats on #60, it was my comfortable spot for awhile.
Sssshhhh! I'm huntin'
lol Thanks Retro I shall enjoy 60 until I am 59 ;)
bun-BUN ....... bun-BUN ....... bun-bun .. bun-bun .. bun-bun .. bun-bun-BUN Attachment 130814
This has nothing to do with team member or rank. It's not a WCG or Boinc stone either. But this kinda looks like a toot your own horn thread sooo.... Woot! My 1st 1,000,000 point day. :toast2:
6 rigs:
1- 3960x
1- 3770K
3- 2600Ks
1- 2600
with...
1 7970 and 2 ancient Nvidia GTX 295's produced:
1,052,908 WCG
That is awesome !!!! :yepp:
Way to go WFO
I am waiting to get membership to this club :D
Gratz WFO! I also hit over 1mil WCG today. :D
Nope you still have arse pie :D
Anyone want to take a punt on how much arse pie will cost during SC week?
200k boinc points?
I just upped my 7950 to 1100 Mhz core clock
I have a question: I am planning on getting a 7950 or 7970 for my main computer, but I want to know if you get any lag when running WCG on your card while using the computer.
If so, I won't be able to run WCG for more than 14 hours per day on that computer and it would probably be more usefull to buy another dedicated card that can run 24/7 in another computer.
Are you able to watch youtube, scroll fluently etc without it stuttering with that 7950 while running WCG?
Day to day usage its not a smooth as when not crunching but it is still very good. I still watch video's and do my day to day stuff with the card(s) going. I only suspend them when gaming.
Stay away from Nvidia cards for this, they can't take it. System goes to an unbearable crawl.
GTX400 series seem to be fairing better than the 500 and 600 series. Both my GTX560 and GTX670 the computer is not usable while crunching.
I had my 460GTX in my daily driver for the first week of GPU computing then got smart and moved it to a dedicated cruncher downstairs and dropped in the 5870 here and much happier
I wonder what this machine will be like with 2-7970's running with 8 GPU WU each with a full dedicated cpu core to each WU? :hrhr:
Should be smooth sailing with 1.6 mil WCGPPD :)
That system has a lot of overhead should handle it just fine.
Hey... WFO...
Attachment 130893
I never thought I'd see this. Top 10 for a day.
Attachment 130935
Great job.
I would be happy if I would make into the top 100.
I salute the top 25 [>100k/day]:
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3232/wcgtop25.jpg
I really never even thought that I would be in the top 25 around here I'm still in shock.... and I just checked my PV's 80 pages of them  So I guess I get to experience this whole "still ramping up" phrase I keep seeing around here :D
A big thank you to Movieman for the SC Week email to remind me to get my tail in gear, and all the great people that are putting up the information about the GPU bits and how to get the most out of it!
Wooohooooo. Number 20 on the list.
This 7970 does some great work!
http://i1059.photobucket.com/albums/...GppdHD7970.png
One quick question, is it safe to fold 24/7 on my 3770k at 4.8ghz-1.36v-50-54c max? Or shall i drop my vcore at 1.3v or less no matter the temps?
I think you'll be fine, just be sure to watch for instability. Even though you may not crash you should check your WCG "Results" for Invalid and Error.
I would say you are good. My rig has done that no problem. Those temps being low will help.
Others may disagree and this will not be an efficient setup for power use. For that you probably need to drop to 4.6 or 4.5 which will put you in the 1.2x volts range probably
Safe? Yes. Well... at least I wouldn't think twice about it.
Efficient? Not very - dropping your voltage (and therefore your clock) even a little bit while make huge gains in power consumption, but if that's not much of a concern, your temps are good. Just make sure you're not getting invalid/error WUs on WCG and you're good to go.
