HI,
I've managed to successully unlock my 550.
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (F4 Bios)
550 BE - AC098BPMW
ACC - Hybrid/Auto (-2 all cores)
4GB OCZ 1333 Platinum @ 7-7-7-20
Titan Fenrir
Antec 300 with 4 fans
Havent had a chance to stress test properly or overclock as it was getting late last night but will try to have a go tonight. Was sitting at 35c in BIOS when unlocked at standard clock.
I have installed Vista x64 SP2 and GTA4, played that for about 1 1/2 hours as I wanted to test my 4870 as well before I hit the hay, went without a hitch. All looks sound so far but guess I won't know for sure until I stress it.
Will post some screens when I get a chance.
Well my dual core seems to be pretty much a no-go on the quad front. Tried lots of combos with no luck.

:(
It seems to be a good clocker at least. Passed Orthos for a few minutes at 4Ghz on the XE under air. Will try it under water just to see, but will likely trade it with a friend for his 9600BE as it would eventually move into a cruncher and even a poor overclock on the quad would cure more cancer than a dual.

Hi guys got my new motherboard today and it unlocked
ACC - Hybrid/Auto (-2 all cores)
0924EPMW GA-MA790XT-UD4P - F4 - success
Nice, I replied to your PM as well
Maybe I have crap chips, maybe I'm just a noob :ROTF:
I'm willing to pay shipping both ways (I send chip and pay for postage back) if anyone in the UK fancies trying to unlock my chips (0919EPMW and 0924EPMW)
PM if your interested in taking a few moments of your day to do me a favour!
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: SORRY FOR THE CAPS GUYS BUT...
It turns out my :banana::banana::banana:ing PSU is faulty!!!!! Arghhhh, I have just tried a new Corsair 520W on my AMD rig and my 0924EPMW unlocks!
It wont boot into windows yet, but I've only just started on this! Before I couldn't even get the motherboard to recognize this chip,so for me this is a big step in the right direction, watch this space :D
Add +100 or 150nbvid.. This helps if the chip has weak IMC.
Make shure your Mobo is using recent Bios F5 and not the factory shipped F2/F2a or F4.
The F4 is buggy with X4core manipulation,, i flashed to F5a with out even using F4,, then i swapped to F5 once that was released.
So please if its buggy with F4 use the F5.

i match with my mobo ma790gp-ds4h then using bios f5..
success unlock 4 cores...
then question is..
how can i know that other cores stable? what can i do? and what stability test software i can use and how can i know whether it is stable or not?
one more question..
currently my friend using mobo ecs 780g-ultra chipset and 750 sb.
ECS A780GM-A ULTRA -A780G+SD750
isit this mobo capable to unlock 4 cores by using phenom II 550.
i want to know because one of asrock mobo intergrated 780g + 750 sb able to unlock??
pls help me noob here..
In order to test for stability, I'd suggest 10 passes on Intel Burn Test at maximum stress level. If you can pass that a couple(4-5) of hours of Prime95 blend test will tell you if your system is stable enough for just about all general uses. You can test for longer, but I feel comfortable with stability if I can pass Prime95 blend for 5 hours. About the ECS board, I have no idea. If the board has acc options in the bios then maybe it can. Either lend your friend your chip, since you know it to be unlockable, or have him hit up google to search for anyone that may have unlocked with that board.
Very easy, just download latest version. Extract the compressed files and click the .exe . It auto starts the torture test setup box, then click ok.
If you get an error the program tells you or just crashes. Simple way to tell if you're stable if it can run for hours without any errors you're fine

Mine unlocked easily first on first try.
Didn't mess much with overclocking. Just pushed the multi to 17.5 for a nice 3.5 Ghz.
It was batch 0922 on a GA-MA770T-UD3P Bios F2.
Stock voltage.
1h Prime95 stable blend torture.
Air cooled xigmatek.
31C idle.
47C load. (might be a bit high I'll purchase a backplate soon).
I'm very happy with the proc and how easy an hassle free it was to unleash it.
I was going to post when there were 4 pages in this thread... I never got the activation email or w/e. haha. but it lets me post now, yay.

0919EPMW, with a GA-MA790XT-UD4P (both from newegg). had to flash the bios to F4 first.
stock HSF, thermal pad (i'm really lazy, and don't know where the AS is), runs in the low 40s C. I can bump it up to 3.6 GHz in windows without a problem using phenommsrtweaker, haven't tried prime95 or anything at that speed though. but it's been running 24/7 since I got it ~2 weeks ago at 3.2 GHz (1.6 when i'm not using it), so i'm assuming it's all good.
and this might be a dumb question, i think i've read an answer before too (which was no), does CnQ work when all the cores are unlocked? i don't mind having to manually change the speed, but it'd be easier if it did it on its own.
I haven't actually gotten to the point where I'm worried about power usage with this settup yet mariol90.....
But turn off CNQ and check out this lil program. It has worked really well for me in the past, and gives you lots of options to tune your energy savings!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ght=msrtweaker
It's very easy to use and has actually worked better than CnQ from my experience...
Here are some results from my phenom 550:
The strange thing is that when I try to rise the voltage above 1,38 the CPU is losing stability. Why could that be?
http://i701.photobucket.com/albums/w...3875_prime.jpg
It can pass this test on 4 cores, but if I try to run BLEND, it crashes in a few seconds. I ran 3dmark06, some games, everest cache and memory benchmarks with no issues. It might restart few times but only after few hours of work. I've replaced my 64bit. XP with 64bit. Vista, but it became very unstable even on 2 cores. Do I need to find another prime 95 vrsion, is there any difference in 32 and 64 bit versions, are there any other tools to be used?

Successfully unlocked 550 on Biostar 790GX 128M with Bios Jan 09
Hi,
I'm wondering what could have caused a jump on my X2 550 BE idle/load temps.
Yesterday, it was 31C idle / 47 load.
Today, it has jumped to 33C idle / 49! load.
NOTHING has changed from yesterday. Same bios config, case wasn't opened. Nothing. The case temps are actually colder then yesterday ! (room temps are 3degree C lower).
Could the HSF have somewhat moved ? Is there a "burn in" period for those chips ? Could air pockets have somewhat formed between the HSF and the thermal paste ? I used high quality thermal paste.
I am very upset with this change. Furthermore, when I put the CPU thru some Prime95 today, it actually produced an error dump file. No such thing yesterday !
Re seating the HSF would be a huge pain as I would have to disconnect every wires/remove the Mobo ...
All you guys with Biostar Mobos and the bug HT Link @ 1600MHz download the modified BIOS from RH here
does anybody know why my amd overdrive 3.0.2 says "failed to start" and thats it.. it worked flawlessly 3 days ago =(

any one do unlocking with stock fan? at what speed? :)
because your CPU is getting too hot...on your current voltage CPU temp is 55 but on my CPU voltage 1.408 load temp is 48 degrees.what cpu cooler do you have?i have Big Typhoon VX

It will not let me boot into windows, I can do the start of a fresh windows XP install but after the reboot stage it won't continue the setup, it just keeps rebooting.
I have tried every possible setting in the BIOS, tried every BIOS but no joy, I can only get into the BIOS.
you cores are not stable mate...or you should disable Cool and Quiet
Is there a trick to Nb clocks? I have seen quite a few 2.8Ghz on some average mobo's, but my mobo MA790FXT-UD5P doesn't even boot > 2.15Ghz

Glad to help, make sure you keep an eye on temps though. The extra cpu-nb adds heat to the cpu. I know it's Winter for you down under but I'm sure it's still fairly warm.
Wow that is pretty cold. We average around 0-3C during the day in the winter months, but I didn't expect it to be that cold in Australia. Off topic but you're probably higher elevation right?
The advantage to nb clocks is that your L3 cache runs at this speed. Better overall performance since the cpu cores aren't waiting around as long for data I'd assume. I'm in Massachusetts, USA elvation about 30m above sea level. I'd heard the average temp in Australia during the winter was about 55F(13C).
Higher NB results in more memory bandwidth. Test with everest and you'll see the difference with each tweak.
Didn't take a note of my stepping, and I cbs taking off my heatsink atm. I'll repost when I do though. Was an easy unlock, only had to turn on ACC. Stable on ~13h P95.

Haven't gotten around to overclocking yet though.
anyone had try unlock proc 550 BE with mobo intergrated 780G Ultra chipset?
Pretty sure you can't with a 780G, since you need a SB750 or SB710 southbridge. I started off with a GA-MA780G-UD3H, and I changed it for my current board, so I could try unlocking my CPU.
What is the max safe voltage for these chips 24/7? Right now I'm running 3.9ghz @ 1.5v and 4 cores (under load it drops to 1.488v.) Prime95 stable for over 5 hours, which is good enough for me.

This might of been asked before.
But how does one check the temps? Real temp can't even be open while Core Temp have a ? on it :(
I took delivery of a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P Motherboard on Friday so I've been having a play with it and my Phenom II X2 550 after flashing it to the latest Bios thanks to it running an old F2 version!
I purchased the CPU about a month ago and its a 0919EPMW Stepping and had 3.8Ghz in my old Asus M3A32-MVP DELUXE/WIFI-AP Motherboard as a dully.
On the Gigabyte however Its now a SUCCESSFULLY UNLOCKED QUAD :D

I've been playing ever since and managed to get 3.6GHz nice and stable:
http://www.michaelscomputers.co.uk/p...IB503.6GHz.jpg
To say I'm happy would be an understatement :) I'm having some issues with getting it to 3.7GHz as a Quad with Blue Screens & Reboots but still playing with bios settings! I'm more than happy with 3.6GHz but playing around is fun :) . The load temps are about 55deg running as a Quad 3.6GHz also, they do go up fairly rapidly when I use more volts though.
So please add me to the list:
0919EPMW - gamesaregood - GA-MA790X-UD4P - F5 - SUCCESS - :D
Im glad to see you flashed to the F5:up:
Lots of people that could not unlock these chips were using F2 or F4 Bios which is by all means buggy as hell.
Even when i first installed my 550 i flashed to F5a beta before even testing the Stock F2/F4 bioses.
Once i saw people were having problems tweaking the Bioses i flashed to the Older ones and experianced thier Problems.
To Date the F5 is the Most reliable Bios for ALL AMD chips on UD4P.
Ive tested and played with all Volt settings with a 9950/720/1640/550/6000+ cpu's. and the F5 handles em all.
So if anyone is trying to UNLOCK 550's please use the Most recent Bios for Your Mobo.
It will save you AMDheartheadache , if you update teh Bios from the Get go:D

Tried my CACYC 0923 APMW on an ASROCK A780 SB710 with ACC and a ASROCK A790 SB750 with ACC and fails to start Windows or Linux on both MBs. At post it shows an X4 but thats as far as she gets. I've tried each of the MBs available bioses and I think every combination of settings. Just got a 4 core dud. I do have it stable at 3.93ghz at 1.450v with 8GB ram and still am impressed with the speed on the 2 cores. A 650W power supply also does not help.
0921apmw & biostar TA790GX 128M January bios success!

has anyone at all had any joy unlocking with an ASUS M4A78-E ?
looks to be a trend forming over the net that this board just does not work
What would you reckon about 0924 BPMW and 0924 EPMW steppings, these are the only ones I have currently found in New Zealand.
One shop had 2 BPMW's while the other shop had 20 odd 550's (only got the guy to check half a dozen for me and all were 0924 EPMW).
Going by the first post the EPMW has a 50% success rate of only 2 cpus tested and the BPMW has 0% of 2 aswell.
Quick question: Is the stock 550 cooling adequate for a 550 with the aditional two cores unlocked?
thank you
It all depends on how much if any voltage you have to add to get stable at 4 cores. If you can run stable at default of 1.35v then probably good but if you require 1.4v+ then I'd say no. The stock heatsink is nothing more than a finned aluminum block and it's small. :shakes:
Well, as far as i can go is 3.7GHz. Anything over 3.7 = not stable. Am able to run Small FFTs on 3.8-4.0ghz with 1.5v stable but when i run blend it will crash for some reason. I am sure is not the ram because those are same settings i used to run blend on 3.7GHz
Im about to order a X2 550 but im in a tossup between ordering from Newegg $99 plus free shipping. or going to the local frys and picking it up for $104 and being able to possibly pick the week/batch i want.
