Nice to see Amd racing to the top. Great result congrats on the new wr.:clap:
The youtube video made me laugh. You pet your kitten to that type of music often? LOL
nice job :D
Holy :banana::banana::banana:ing :banana::banana::banana: you guys !, that is just lovely ! Great benching from two xtreme legends !
It's so much fun, watching the Intel guys trying to follow you :p: :D
great run :D
nice:up::shocked:
Congratz guys
holy :banana::banana::banana: how did i miss this update today!:banana::banana::banana:ing great job guys! awesome video! i have no more words, i need a smoke now! congrats
HA ha! you said my name ... I can post ...
So, I am not going to get to this contest again, I could use an other engineer sample as you did for 3DM05. As I was saying last week, I believe that we should not file records with engineering sample . .. we showed on 3DMark05 that it was easy to get back ... this time, I am not doing it, it is turning to funny. Let's see what people can do with what is in the stores ... not with some crazy chips you and I can get.
from what I know , the engineering samples score will be invalidated, as we proposed last week.
Francois
Wow, congrats all round, that's a damn impressive CPU!
Also that You Tube clip is wicked
 Absolutely amazing! When I saw those numbers, well, let's just say i needed a new pair of pants :p
With all it's twists and turns this thread is shaping up to be a cracker not only for showcasing a :banana::banana::banana:ing awesome result from TF, but also for sowing the seeds to a better competition for overclocking.
Dino great post and thanks for taking the time to spell it out thoroughly.
Francois, im really really pleased to see your post
theres competition overclocking and theres fun overclocking. not saying that competing cant be fun... or you cant compete in while having fun.. or... bah... nice words dino
Big congrats again Team Finland! :toast: I wish you the best of luck for the live benching the coming weekend. 36k, I know you can do it :)
:welcome:
Race has been on since 1999 and it will continue more likely another +10 years:

Being on top needs constant upgrades to your system. At one point it is ATI graphics card which can get the highest result and next it is NVIDIA. 3 years ago everyone used Athlon 64 platform but last couple of years it has been Intel dominating the scene. It has been always like that and will be.
Basically what we all need here in XtremeSystems are high-leakage chips which are out of spec for normal retail CPUs. I hope both Intel and AMD would introduce "Overclocking edition" of their CPUs and make use of those silicon dies which are currently being thrown away as "bad" ones, they are perfect for overclocking and reaching high frequencies:

Everyone would be happy here, but it is just a dream.
I love that video
Now LHe the cards as well:p:
as always... very nice results
congrats Team Finland...
:shocked:nice
awesome chip
Just repeating ...
well, and the race is on 3DMark vantage now ... and with CPU from the stores :)
Sorry, I understand that you have few special chips ... so do I, Fugger showed he could get the 3DMark05 WR, it was very simple ... the instruction per clock advantage of Core i7 is so big that it comes easy.
Those scores will not validate anymore, as the big majority of XS members requested last months, after we did beat your scores. Thanks for not changing your opinion again.
Francois, World Record of 3DMark vantage ... just kidding :-P
amaaaaaasing stuff lads, top job !!
Very well done, amazing results. Nice vid too.
Team Finland ROCKS :clap::up:
Waiting for LHE+4 pots Ln2 benching
and can try wprime 32+1024?Im curious :)...
when can i buy that mobo in italy????
...congrats...
This is EPIC score for AMD!:clap:
Congratulations to Team Finland and AMD! Keep pushing the envelope!
PS. Best luck benching on Assembly! I would love to be there this year, but I can't :(
Congrats guys , never thought that this is possible
Already taken back.
Same cpu, same config.
Overclocked gpu's, maaaybe higher HT-link, and boom, core 7 bye bye! ;)
Congratz on the AMD 06 record!
its nice to see that Intel has some competition :)
AMD did an incredible job with the Phenom II and I believe it is only the start :)
Ho, ho, ho.........WHAT we've got here?....... :D
I was "out" for a while and you guys meesed everything up!....... :D
Congrats AMD teem for the WR..... ;) :) (yeakssss.....WHAT did I said right now?... I said: "AMD"...... brrrrrr.......... :D )
(Because I'm in love with ATI - though it gives me hard time benching with it - when I want to download their new VGA drivers, I type: "http://www.ati.com" and it re-directs me at the original site... :D )
BUT I think it whould be interesting benching a QUAD over 6GHz..... ;)
BUT Gautum, puting VGAs on LN2, has "lost" in his bench the CFX power and he did a BAD score on GT2 and Canyon Flight........These VGAs under LN2 are very "tricky"...... Do you hear that Vince?...... :D :p:
Give me Vince's i7 CPU, and I'll get the 2k6 WR back you Intel guys...... ;) :p:
No George, that's not a "bad" run. I've seen hundreds of those so I know exactly what they look like. ;)
:toast:
See here @ 6:22 :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB0JodKgZ0A
Well.. I'm wrong guy to say anything about this, cause my 965 can do only 5GHz in 06, but not well tweaked Core i7 is not very good in GT2. Pure CPU MHz will not do the trick alone.
On AMD northbridge is the key in that test. Our NB was running 4.5GHz and it is making huge difference. I think you need 4.6-4.8GHz uncore and 5.35Ghz on Core i7 to match that.
My OS is giving some slow runs sometimes and score is bad then, but that drop is too obvious. So I guess Gautum's score is just what it should be
Pure speculation though
Yes Northbridge Frequency gives BIG difference from my tests here with i7... ;)
Going from ~3800 to ~5000MHz, I show quite good numbers....... :)
eVGA is about .5 FPS lower than ASUS (and probably others) If it was a "bad" GT2 the score would've never been a WR. ;) As for the low clfights, whenever they hit, I didn't even let the test finish. :)
Not here. Past 4GHz did nothing in 3D, up to 4.8GHz+. The memory subsystems of Core i7 and AMD can't be compared. Would you believe I've gotten 34.8k with an uncore only in the 3.6GHz range? :p:
Good info Gautum!
Are you 100% sure you didn't see any gains in GT2 with higher uncore/NB speed?
If this is the case, you will need just more MHz for the CPU. 5.35GHz should do it..but how many C0 can do that :D
What do you guys think 06-score is when CPU and all four cores are running @ 6,6 GHz? :wasntme:
Next will be live LN2 session to reach 36k tomorrow but stay tuned..
i think so too lightman! they got valid @ 6.66 w/ ln2.... just a few more mhz! cant wait to hear about todays results!
Can't wait to see your results, although thousands and thousands of miles away we will be having a little fun of our own at the very same time ;)
nice thread and this cpu seems to have got performance and scale good under cool ... but you 're alone to bench it :(
Good Luck guys!!!
Good to see Hipro posting after a long time :D
I think a lot of people here are under-estimating the effect Macci has had on this run :D
This guy has been benching ATI since when the High end ATIvsNvidia playing field was pretty much him vs Oppainter and the world over would come to XS to watch their matches. I love how we're finally starting to return to the old days of competition between Intel and AMD for once where they each go back and forth. Intel having all the records isn't fun at all.
I know that Kingpin is officially Intel/Nvidia, but I don't know if that's the case with Hipro and Pedro, but I would love to see them both try out the new Phenoms.
Good job to Sampsa, SF3D AND Macci
Perkam
Hi all!
This Saturday was not our day. Our VGA's were finally cooled with LN2 and they run whole day without any issues. We could run them up to 950MHz.
But there is always a "but" :(
We couldn't get our subsystem stable for some reason.. we managed to run system at 6.187GHz in the end, but VGA clocks were low and the run wasn't very good.
Gear we used were the same as before.
Clocks were 6187MHz on the cpu. 4500MHz on NB and 900 7-7-7-20-30-1T
Here is the score from today:
http://www.aijaa.com/img/b/00477/3648816.png
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=10090172
This was not the end.. that is for sure! There is still so much power left in the system. And we must try LHe too.
sweet numbers guys.. 36k is sooooo close :toast:

Wow Nice  You Guys = Finnish OC Powerhouse
Looking forward to when you guys will be getting the 945 ES :D :D :D
Perkam
guys these scores you guys have put out are remarkable, great job
So close to 36K! :D Good job!
I see a storm on the horizon "Offcourse i am talking about the Overclocking Events on CeBIT 2009 with i7"
But for a ship as sturdy as the PhII this maybe a fight fit for titans.
SF3D even tough i don't have much experience with oil cooling we did use a car oil pump to cool a cpu use a modded water cooler kit and submerged the whole thing in non conductive oil. We did run in to a short circuit prob. after a few mins but that was because of the ram and non-pure oil. But this did increase the overall stability of the m/b fsb and i would imagine it may work in a similar way for u off course in ur case it would be pots that are partially inside the oil and mouths outside for Ln2/etc.
PM me if you want further detail and if possible i will ask around if anyone had taken pics!!
Nice results, I guess it's a lot harder to bench in front of a huge crowd, conditions will not be that good.
I wish you luck for the next time you're benching in your lab, I'm looking foward to seeing 36k from you soon!
any results from your 4870x2's on LN2?
You did grate job:yepp:
Congrats with new WR:clap:
awesome job!! with vga's at 950... I cant wait... With LHe...
Great Job, Big Respect!
I say congrats to those vid cards!! Lordy those are some high scores!! But the AMD @6100+ comes no where near the Intel at 1000mhz less
Look at the highest cpu score on 06 that the AMD puts up. It is impressive but it gets whacked by the Intel rigs. So I am blown aay by the video cards
If you guys can find away to push the cpu score up to match the Intel scores then you will have something. And vice-versa if the Intel guys can get
their cards to match yours then they will have something.
Come on WeldZilla, don't turn this into an Intel against AMD fight please. In the end, if Intel was really that superior, why is AMD holding the crown then?
Awesome work guys, your determination is admirable! I guess today you'll give it another go at the live event?
I hope you can get everything running full throttle at the same time, are you guys gonna do Liquid Helium too at the live event?
Keep pushing the system! 36K is just around the corner.
Weldzilla, like Zeus said: Why is it that AMD holds the record then?? Isnt it interesting that overall performance AMD wins, even when intel has highest cpu score??
Great job guys, your rocking.
guys, think about it
the i7 with HT on scores much higher in CPU score because of the HT, but the overall higher clock of the Phenom II unlocks the video cards better. I would say. if the i7 with HT on overclocked to 6.1 GHz then its game over. But so far its not happening and thats why the Phenom II holds the crown.
i7 with HT off and 6.1 GHz if possible would be an interesting match up for the Phenom II, however thats not possible to compare yet.
Congrats Team Finland! (again :))
One more step and 36k is yours!!
Brilliant score anyway and the setup looks badass!
OK. I will say this one more time (must be number 105589768 or something :D)
3DMark06 is so heavily CPU limited test, that overclocking VGA's have almost zero impact on the final score.
Like we can clearly see, we could run our CPU at the same speed as before, but we gained 100 points.
So going from 830MHz on all 4 GPU's to 900MHz we got 100 points. Do you believe me now
I don't know do we cool our GPU's in the future.. there is really no idea on that. We would just make our benching more difficult :D
LN2 on ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 CrossFireX is just for squeezing the last ~200 points out from the system in 06. CPU has much bigger impact. With good run 36k would have been possible yesterday, but new WR in front of live audience was also ok result :P
sure you guys , did a great job ...
keep pushing it
36K or not you guys did a great job once again. It's just that i didn't really feel it was appropriate getting Intel involved in an AMD WR thread.
No need to tell anyone how cpu bound 06 is i think, the extra points gained by putting LNē on the graphics cards is a nice added bonus.
So, any more bech sessions ahead? ;)
Don't be so sensitive!!! Geesh, I was just amazed by the damn gpu output. I'd love to see AMD get right up neck and neck
with Intel on everything again. The industry needs this and so do we. It is that mad competition that brought us
Phenoms and Core I7. So to the team who set this great mark I say congratulations!!! and to the teams chasing them I say
Sick'em.
good job M8
looking forward you guys 36K
Great job Team Finland..... 36K here we come.
great job, I'm wondering how far will you guys reach with LHe
:up:you guys are awesome
Really nice, but what do u think, how much futher you can push it ? 8-)
Congrats on The new WR guys
Team Finland's perseverance always amazes me!
Thank you everyone! This thread is starting to go down now, cause Team Finland decided to take a little break.
We will be back and we will be even stronger then! Stay tuned!
P.S Thank's for afterparty Macci the "party animal" and the crew from Jimm's PC store!! Saturday night was great and now Monday evening I can eat again
Nice.
Waking up in the morning, thinking, hmmm, lets go out and break the 3DMark06 record again, just for kicks.
Still, a bit embarassing to go to a Lan Party and spend the whole time overclocking? FINLAND IS HARDCORE.
Congratulations. And have I mentioned how well I sleep at night since you broke the 06' record the first time? I haven't slept this well since Conroe launched...
I have been working too much and have been deprived so as a reward to myself I turned on STEAM, bought Unreal Tournament 3, and got killed a lot.
:frag::frag::frag::frag:
pfft
we invented drunken benching down here :D
Karmakazi is all Aussie i tell ya http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/8...4531195gx4.gif http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/8...4531195gx4.gif http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/8...4531195gx4.gif
our Gigabyte comp is on this weekend....free beer for all.....there are going to be some smashed nerds on saturday......it will be funny when we start the second leg of the competition for 32M SuperPi all drunk and :banana::banana::banana:
i'm sure we'll probably end up running core i7 CPUs and uncore at 2v and RAM at 3v heheheh ... pooring LN2 straight on the board and RAM for sure hahahah. if my CPU NB doesnt crack 5GHz i'll be unimpressed heheh:D
Haven't followed what's been going on for a little while - wow - you guys did it again! Very impressive what you guys accomplished here!!! To bad I wasn't able to watch and enjoy the game i person this time! Hopefully I get to watch you guys play in Hannover again.
Also big congrats AMD for pushing the envelope and showing you care about the community and the sport! Now send some helium down to Finnland and let's see how far this gem can really go!
