I wonder what's this going to be ... now It's a Cat in a Bag ! :hehe: or glued GTX260 ? Oh please ... announce it nVidia , you can do it !
Hardware.fr got a GT200b chip in their hands.
Apparently, it's pin-to-pin compatible with the GT200.

in my experience when Nv is releasing something it shows up on their site between 9am EST and 11am EST but as for today I dont expect a card to be released as when a card is released their is usually more info on it some say dual gpu some say 55nm gtx 280 some say a potatoe with a rocket pack on it, who knows
AFAIK no GT200b coming today. Tomorrow they will launch v180.42 beta drivers (big bang 2).

I have no idea what`s wrong with NVIDIA. Maybe there is no GT200@55nm? No leaks, no benchmarks preview, no die shot, no specs. Simply NOTHING confirmed. Maybe NVIDIA has some problems with 55nm version of GT200 like ATI had with 80nm r600? Or maybe it wants to skip 55nm and go straight to 40nm next year? I don`t know but there are some strange moves from NVIDIA because it needs something new to fight with Rv770. No visibly faster but surely cheaper. But now? Hmm still waiting?

There are two kinds of people...
People who are attention whores, who'd post anything just to get some attention or hits ( like some sites that I'm not going to mention now ).
And... people who have sources and get some real info, and sometimes leak some info because of their excitement and "will" or "love/passion" on helping the PC enthusiasts, etc.
I can easily name some people that are trustworthy and have brought some real info in the past and of course didn't provide what you call "proof" back then.

People like you are what I'd call trustworthy, because when you post things they have some basis in fact, and you post things that are truthful. When you do that you don't need any proof, because you have a reputation of posting factual info and people take you at your word.
These other sites have proven just the opposite. If they had official sources, then they've broke NDA's a long time ago and used them up. So what's left? Fabrication and guesses. This stuff about "insider info" and "We cannot expose our source" is just a cover for they don't have any, and are guessing.
If they had a source which in this example would be nVidia or somebody who worked with nVidia and was allowed to release info they'd have no trouble saying "official Souces at nVidia have allowed us to release this latest info", and it would be to their advantage and nVidia's to do so, but that's not what happened. They made up some tall tale about a new GPU refresh that was coming out, and even made up a date which we now know for a fact was a complete lie.
See? It's just like this thread. I held back and just waited this one out. I pretty much figured there was no refresh, because it was so soon after release of the last new gen of GPU's, but I waited to proove it. It's now been proven beyond any doubt. This forum is littered with threads like this and lost in them are the corrections from people with actual first hand info that *can* say something. These threads always have one or two places in common...Fud, or that Inq. I could promise people the world and be right 50% of the time. All I;d have to do is contradict myself 100% of time, and I'd be right 50% and would draw millions to a site and make all kinds of money. There's only one problem...I would'nt want to ruin my word to do it.
There is a BIG difference between something that has real actual info and can be trusted, and places that just make stuff up out of the clear blue. There was no reason at all to make some stuff like this up. What would possess somebody to do stuff like this? Do they not know the damage they are causing? Do they not know the trouble they are causing people? :shakes:

If they have the ability to produce these chips on 55nm process (would think that they would have that ability by now) then economically, they absolutely positively must. There is no doubt that they will. Just when.
I also have to ask (apologies for being ignorant if they have) but have they produced any chip @ 55nm? There was also a rumor of 55nm 9800GT's with Hybrid power.....or all Hybrid power 9800GT's would be 55nm.......something to that effect. Don't recall seeing any of those.

the number is at around 120$ afaik, per chip (the gt200, shrink shouldnt be much cheaper)

Wow, Nvidia really has some problems. I was told by an inside source that the 55nm variants were planned for the beginning of Q4 (I reported this a few months back). I'll check if I can get a bit more information for you guys.

I had 3 BFG GTX 280 all defective, one after another, 115c within minutes, then shut down, that is stupid how a company can release such garbage, b/s it was quality tested. BFG is garbage for even selling that card as an OC, poor quality control, or lack of it. I know there are good GTX 280's out there, i had one, an ASUS, but the chance is not worth taking IMO
That is why I have been waiting for the shrink.
Maybe that is why the Watercooled BFG is $100 cheaper than the eVGA watercooled.
My plan is when I get my mobo, CPU and RAM buying whatever top EVGA FTW card is there or a GTX280 current card depending on price. If they come out with a shrink and it's past the step up deadline, I'll just buy another GTX280 as the price will make that attractive. I'm going with Dtek Blocks and Unisinks myself, because I can move those blocks to other cards in the future, and not be stuck with an obsolete FC block and card that cost a fortune.
I plan to have a 120mm fan blowing over the unisink also to impove airflow. I have read they perform better than the FC blocks. We'll see how that works out though on my speciffic setup. Every setup is slightly different with watercooling.

Couldn't say. My own BFG GTX280 is doing wonderfully. Once I move it to an X58 board, I may seriously consider looking for a second one. But there have been some manufacturing defect issues, and they're things you'd really hope would get caught before they left the factory, so the complaints aren't without merit.
i know with 2 gtx 280's and a quad clocked to 3.8 my WC loop had 3 120 raidiators and that wasnt enough so im @ 5 (320&220) and they still get hot

We can not sure it will be which card and which core, but from what we know it possible be 55nm GT200 dual chip which is similar with 9800GX2.

You're right. If you check out the specs for the new Quadro FX 5800, the TDP is 189W. So, basically the GTX290 is already out (a better version of it). It just costs ~$3500.Quote:

Perhaps, their problem is yet again yield problem, there's simply not enough chips for a true hard launch of its new line up sooner than later. If we go by rumour from expreview here, they might even not launch these new chips as a new line up, simply going the way of 9600 GT 55 nm dispersed. If they do that, i don't think we'll see any clock improvement, just TDP reduction -but ofcourse there will be OCing bonanza should the voltage isn't too much reduced. Then we'll see a true ATi beater with G200b GX2 sometime next quarter -January or February ?
I am very close to going with the BFG Single-slot H2OC cards.
I want to wait for the shrink, but I want to get my rig together, too.
I'm also concerned that they won't bring out another single-slot version, which is very nice!
