is it just me or is the front of this case kinda rickety. It kinda screeches of you put pressure on the front of the case as the aluminum between the slot covers and the slots rubs together.
im really glad I bought this case. Cant wait to throw all my watercooling goodies in it.
I had the same problem on mine, except worse. Everytime I opened the front panel, the aluminum would rub together making a horrible screech and scratch the paint away. I spent some time trying to sand the metal out, yet it kept doing that when I already sanded 1-2mm out. I decided to return it.
took me 5 hours to redo the loop and get everything moved in. But its SWEET.
Budwise, cable management FTW. Other than that, it looks good, however.
couldnt get it much better than that unfortunately. The cables have to reach so far they end up not being long enough to route well. And as others have said, its a tough case for cable management and on top of that i'm not that great at it :)
Well at least you tried. I am a cable management Nazi, and this would driv me to stay up at night. Well, I am not that bad with cables, as I don't cut them short 9just in case for the future), and don't sleeve everything.
The extraneous space in the Rocketfish is about the only problem I have with this case.
Thanks for sharing Budwise.
And here is mine ....

The hard drives would probably stay cooler if you moved the hard drive cage closer to the front fan. Also, where are your front IO ports now?
Can both HDD cages be removed?
How are they connected to the case?
Four screws through the bottom of the case, one into each bottom corner of the cage. Then there is a top bracket that's used to stabilize the top.....it's attached to the motherboard tray and has two screws into the top of the rear cage, or the cage nearest the ps, and one screw into the top of the front cage, or the one closer to the front of the case.
Either or both can be removed at will.
I'm the one who drilled out the rear panel where the side fan mounts (it's in a separate thread in here...the gold/black painted RF case)....and the drilling out of the holes vastly improved the air flow! I'm using the fan in an exhaust mode and you can feel quite a bit of air flow out from my drilled out panel.....much, much more than there ever was through those stock restrictive holes.
Dang, I cant wait to tear into it. Especially after seeing these pics!
just bought one at my local BestBuy here in Jacksonville Florida for $47.99.. they only had 2 but some of the other stores still have some.. Has to be the best deal on a case in a long time
Getting around to charging up that phase unit in mine soon, then build another smaller even more compact version woohoo!
So do you guys see this working or no? I plan on keeping the hard drive rack MAYBE. Im not sure. if I dont then it should be a hell of a lot easier. But with the rack.
What im asking is will it be too big to fit in this area? 6" on the res, + 3.5" on the pump and small tubing in between.
http://mysoarer.com/computers/rocketfish/path1.jpg
My case is still in the box, so i cant really tear it open right now!
Tubing would be shorter if you ran the pump to the MCW60 first, then the Fuzion CPU, then the rad. Also, know that the inlet for the MCP655 is the side, not the top... top is outlet.
No. Theoretically, water is coolest when coming out of the rad, but putting the rad before or after the blocks won't make a notiable difference at all. Water temperature evens out (with the exception of maybe .1C) in a closed loop.
Try and order your blocks so that tubing is minimized.
And for my PITA that took all day, i modded the top for the radiator, and heres the results.
Note*: This took all day, i'm tired and will try cable management tomorrow, as well as put this best in the floor beside my desk
Oh yeah, the pictures aren't that great. I'll get into the fancy settings on the camera tomorrow.
Alots more to do, need to put the PCI cooler on too.
Imagine, three (3) 133CFM fans on full blast without a fan controller
I need to add length to them, won't reach the 3 1/2" bay :shakes:

i spy deltas, cheap but very effective. however after 2 yrs i coudnt handle the noise. they over powered my tv, and speakers .lol my roomate always knew when i woke up cause he said he'd hear the jet spool up.
loud yes , powerful yes, i have a 160cfm 92mm for :banana::banana::banana:s n giggles ....i can chop carrots with it. careful with them things took the tip clear off 2 fingers once
Thanks
Cable management, is my today's project. lol
And those a Scythe Ultra Kaze fans. I just finished splicing them all together making one plug, and extended it to reach the fan controller. Thank god!
I am so getting this case... I got like 10 thousand best buys in my area, so I am not settling for anything other than 50 bucks. It's not that much more than having the broken front panel replaced on my nzxt lexa... I will get a side panel though, but i'll wait for it. Just a quick question, are all the fans in this case 120mm?
Yes, all of the stock fan mounts are 120mm.
Dothan Ala has 5 left in stock called to confirm, the manager on Duty would not budge off the 112.00 priced waited until he got off work and talked to the Asst manager and She priced matched the Tallahassee FL Store which had 2 left for 49.99 + tax the case is huge almost did'nt fit in the trunk of my full sized Ford. Now if Asus Would come off those Crosshair II MBs.

I thought installing the front hd bay (w/ fan) would help with the higher temps, but so far nothing.. currently looking at the antec 1200 as a replacement. This case rocks, but its providing nowhere near enough airflow for my tastes.. almost nothing on the side (that exhaust thing is pathetic) and nothing on top, unless you mod it.. $48 though im not complaining
I understand the frustration with air flow through the case, which is why I purchased for my RF case the windowed panel that had the vented insert in it....and then finally got rid of the "exhaust" fan, the one mounted in the box, and moved that exhaust fan to the vent on the side panel. (I noticed that the fan in exhaust barely managed to move any significant amounts of air out of the case, even though I'd drilled out the mesh on the rear of the case......what I really noticed was that the fan bounced more air back into the case from the inside of the box vs. moving the air out the rear....a very poor design, imho. And it worked no better set up as an intake fan, either.)
That single change on that fan's placement did wonders for moving out air.....but then again, I am WC'ing and have three 120's....all S-Flex "F's"....on top blowing into the case along with the front 120 fan (which was changed from the Lian-Li fan to an S-Flex "E" fan), so two 120's (both Zalman F3's) providing exhaust probably is just barely enough.
But, as I sit and wait for my EK blocks for my 3870 cards, the move of that one fan from the box exhaust to the side panel dropped the gpu temps almost 10C......so I guess it is doing a lot of good after all. (Primary gpu temp dropped, on idle, from low 60's to 50-52C....the cards are the Asus 3870's with the heatsink/fan that is NOT vented out the rear of the case.)
No, I think it's bent too.
Triple - is there a part number with that bay Lian Li grill thing? I cant find it.
It's a 3 into 4 type thing. Takes three 5.25 bays and turns them into four harddrive bays with a fan.
Like this.
You can also get something like this that is just a fan mount.
wheee I checked online and all BB were supposedly out of stock. I went anyways to get my friend a graduation present and bamn what ya know a rocketfish case for $47 tehehe.
So i've not really done anything to my case yet.
But This is how she sits now.
I've been very happy with it. Everything is cool and the case with all 120's is fairly quiet.
Pretty thrilled with the whole deal, thanks to this place I found out about it :)
And once I can find some good feet that board under the case will go. My stupid shelf to the left keeps moving to the right although I have leveled it a few times due to the way my desk is setup.
(this used to be a 3 Piece desk but my brother needed a desk so I broke it a part and brought him the other 1/2.
Something I regret doing now as i need the room.
does anyone know when these will be back in stock at best buy?? they been out for a while...
Earlier this week I got the last one in Central NC, and the guy who worked at BB said that they weren't ordering any more :(
As others have said, BB was closing them out and they don't have any plans to restock....in fact I looked on the BB website and the case isn't there anymore.
I had my wife check, and she just picked on up at the Albuquerque BB. $50!!!!
I am travelling, so I wont be able to do anything with it for a while. But its there!
I was pretty excited. I didnt think I would be able to find one.
There is 1 in Santa Fe also.
Budwise, what radiator grille do you have on top? I've been having trouble finding something other than a fancy Kikbox product for a Thermochill.
There were 6 of these at my local BB last Friday. I bet they are all still there...
I got a window for mine a couple weeks ago

My friend has offered me $125 for mine that I got for $50. Should I do it? Keep in mind they aren't available in central NC any more.
Only if you dont like it. Otherwise, why?
I absolutely love it. It seems like it would be nice to make a quick $75 profit, but I absolutely love this case. I don't think I'm going to end up doing it. I'm just too attached to my Rocketfish.
Find a second one somewhere and sell it haha..

Just got mine for $50 and had a weekend of modding fun on watercooling :) . I will post some pics by the end of the week, sick deal and sick case. They even had about 4 more in the store still, no barcode or price for it in the area, had to price check.

If that edging wasn't so hard to work with, it would look a lot better. But, I like it for my first mod. I'm waiting on my leds in the mail, then I'll get some color in there! Not to mention my ram has been out for rma for almost two weeks now... Darn corsair...
I may have to tear mine down a redo it it. Those are looking great.
i just got one today. anyone that isn't able to get it want it for $100 + shipping? i'll take pics and make a sale thread soon. if no one wants it, then i'll just keep it and atempt to mod it to fit two whole computers into this one case, meaning dual PSU, mobo, HD, optical drives, etc
For the round holes I used a 1 inch hole saw and for the rectangle holes I used a dremel that had the 3 foot pen grip extention so I could be a little closer to my work. The bit I used was one of the small cutting disks.
after I made my cuts, I switched to a grinder and ground off any small shavings that may have held on.....of course I should mention that I prepped for the cuts by using blue painters tape and using a pen and a ruler to make my marks.
For the hole cuts, I did a rough fit of the motherboard and marked the areas I wanted to cut. After everything was done. I painted the whole case in flat black textured outdoor paint do give it that finished but subdued look.
I'm going to go see if my local Best Buy has any in stock sometime this week. I'll let you know how it goes.
Anybody in Texas in the DFW area looking for one of these? Let me know. I used mine for about 2 months and then switched because it was too big for my desk.
You can get the 24pin cable back behind the motherboard tray... I've done it. Also, run that green sleeved cable straight up the motherboard instead of snaking it around the fan. Hole next to your PSU to feed the wires behind the motherboard tray.
I would have pictures showing you that you can get the 24pin behind the motherboard tray, but I was too pissed off with my DOA P5Q-Deluxe that I pulled everything out before taking pictures to try and troubleshoot it.

LOL!!!
I have one of these cases. Had it for nearly a year and haven't been able to use it as I ran out of money. MAYBE I will finally be able to build myself a new computer! Lots of bills to pay and the $1200 is being equally divided into payments to my natural gas company and electric utility. Word is we are getting our 3rd 20% increase on natural gas in the past 4 years. Still... NICE to be a resident of an Owner State! Might be enough left for at least a good start on a new build. Haven't had one in 6 years.
Anchorage Daily News
Early PFD payments will go out Sept. 12
(08/21/08 01:47:46)
Most Alaskans will receive their Permanent Fund dividends on Sept. 12, the state said Wednesday.
That's about three weeks earlier than was initially announced.
This year's payment of about $2,100 -- the exact amount hasn't been announced yet -- will be supplemented by a $1,200 "resource rebate" for a total payment of about $3,300 per Alaskan.
The annual dividend payment comes from investment profits of the $36 billion Alaska Permanent Fund, a state oil-wealth savings account.
The Legislature approved the extra $1,200 payment this month to help Alaskans cope with high energy costs.
The Sept. 12 payments will go to all 500,000 or so Alaskans who asked for their dividend to be deposited directly into their account, said Bill McAllister, spokesman for Gov. Sarah Palin. The previous plan was to pay some of them on Oct. 2 and the rest on Oct. 16.
Checks will be mailed to those who asked for their payment that way during the week of Sept. 30, McAllister said.
He added that applicants who asked for a direct-deposited payment but who have changed accounts or banks have until the end of business on Aug. 29 to submit a form to the state Permanent Fund Dividend Division requesting a change.
I've got some good updates coming this winter. Maybe not the gpu loop yet, but a bitspower res, new HDD cage and grills. Will post pics soon.
