Meep meep :) have you died? or have your boards? :P
Meep meep :) have you died? or have your boards? :P
Well, I just finished installing this RF. It came with bios version 0219 installed.
What would be considered normal for the north bridge temperature, bios shows 57 celsius and infrared meter gives a reading around 60 celsius from the pin fin  heatsink on the middle?
This is pretty soon after starting to play with the board. (trying to boot linux live CD and changing the settings as kernel panics..)
The motherboard is inside the case and the parts are in my sig, no side panel on the case though.
Normal would be below 45°c for the NB. That's the default threshold with Asus Probe II delivered with my RF. (in my case I don't start to worry before 50°+)
Don't pay attention to my signature: I am swapping pieces between 3 PCs atm.
But right now with an E6600 processor at stock speed the NB shows 37°c idle and 40° load.
That's with the small provided fan mounted on the NB (I have watercooling but no blocks on chipset/bridges).
I can post values with overclocked E8500 when I install it back in that rig next week.
But I am already thinking about watercooling the NB indeed...
I currently like this motherboard but I don't have it for a long time enough to give a good opinion.
PS: original Rampage Formula bios was 0219 too for me. Board is rev 1.00G
That looks like some high temps for you guys.
My premium NB idles about 28c and little above 30 in full load.
this with 1.40v. now i checked it was 29c during load :)
this cooling thats on both p5e3 Dlx and premium are the same and are working perfect!
Got my system stable now, the cpu are strange actually, in the beginning when i fired up the new mobo, the cpu were way off what it was stable before as i mentioned before. and the day before yesterday, it got stable at 1.48 2hrs+, were it wasnt in the start. then i tried AGAIN yesterday, ahh, now it was stable 8hrs+. and now i lowered the vcore to 1.46, it went 2 mins, and crashed, tried some minor changes in the GTL settings as i seem to have found the spot now, and rasing it made it worse, so i got in and out windows several times, and now testing again , it went 10 mins .. hehe sooo strange? it seems that it is getting back to normal? but how? soon ill maybe be back to what it was before? :)
The first thing i did when i got the mobo and got it all installed, was to MAX it, doing suicide runs etc, high volts 1.76 for a while...
i've heard that some people that have benched their cpu at higher volts got this "degrading" symptom, and after a week or so it got back to almost or full recovered.. maybe its not just a myth , ah well time will tell :)
board is extremely sensetive and you have to be careful with the adjustments. adjusting GTL just a notch can be major :) as i've noticed :)
gonna keep it like this for a while , 10 mins in OCCT 2.0 are stable enough for everying i think.
Infa
Haven't posted much about my board. i think you are correct very prone to the slightest raise in voltages. I have just bought a Thermochill 320.1 and a XPSC res top DDC Ultra with EK Supreme and 3 more Noctua P12 fans.
I'm going to install this weeekend and then try for overclock 3.8ghz OCT stable or higher of possible, I am at 1.5 Vcore at min tried different votages on NB etc didnt like it.
What I have found I am OCCT stable @3.6 but i had to add 1.9 to Vdimm to do so. Which I was supprised at as this is the upper range for the mem. I know you are at 1.94 but I need to work out the NB voltage and FST to get higher overclock, just have to wait a couple more days to get the cooling in place. then i'll post back. Doesn't sem to be many takers with this board as yet.
Hehe, glad to here you are alive :)
Nice with the new Waterstuff, i know you are goin to be able to push your cpu more! this PA 120.3 ar awsome and just EATS the heat, have my 8800 and CPU in same loop, working great.
Getting 60c (realtemp) with 1.46 loaded on this baby! think thats awsome if you look at what people with Aircooling gets, just 1.30 gives them 70c or so.
water cooling are fun and are taking the "hobby" to the next level :)
you have a quad, and i a dual , so too bad we really cant compare settings while your have to be different for the most.
report how it goes man :) allways fun to hear results!
will do :)
OK, I'm something of an Asus fanboy (love the good old P5K Deluxe), but so far I am not having fun with this P5E3 Premium. Max FSB on a quad (so far I've tried q6600 and q9450) seems maybe 20mhz higher than Maximus Extreme, but is a huge struggle to stabilize. Very finicky in terms of voltage settings, GTL, staps. Customary voltage settings that usually do the job on the Asus X38 boards seem to be out the window on this model.
If anybody is running a quad (preferably yorkfield) at stable FSB of 475 or higher, I would very much appreciate if you could post your key settings.
Thanks! :D
So guys, will this be the top DDR2 board ( Rampage formula ) in ASUS for the time being until that new socket comes out?
Yes Noobcake, the Rampage Formula is definately at the top with the DFI board aswell. I havent researched on the nvidia chipset much but the Rampage Formula is a success for the time being and a great achievement from the reviews I've read.
The P5E3 premiuim on the other hand is an amazing board. I havent tried overclocking just yet, but by the looks of the bios its gonna be fun. Im going to try to hit 4.2 Ghz with an E8400 and Freezer Pro 7 so ill update in a bit guys. Also, has anybody hit 4.5Ghz with water cooling or air? That would be a triumphant task.
aiight awesome, i want to order one now :)
whats the best 2x1GB ram i could get with this board?
prefer 8500, so it has some headroom..
I am a Patriot monger so I would suggest these just because Patriot ram has always been so stable.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220284
Other than that OCZ and Gskill have some good 8500 and should do the job aswell.
Yes. 4,5 are not a problem i can even bench 3dmark with it.. nothing major.
and yes the board are finicky or how you say :) make SMALL small adjustments instead of ahh... 1.40 dont work, lets get 1.50 , the board wont boot then :)
had MANY resets by this hehe.. i screamed to myself (yes im crazy) THIS ISNT FCKING LOGICAL BOARD!! hehe its nothing compared to whats normal, when raising fsb, i thauhgt, ah well lets raise vMCH to, but nooooo hehe.
be back with some small benches 4,5.
regards.
Ok, benched a bit and been pissed off to hehe this board is a struggle, but think im starting to get it!
at lower FSB like 460 and lower, you would want the 333 strap BUT, that strap DONT like voltages over 1.41 on the vMCH, when climbing o ver 460, switch over to 266 strap, this one can take the voltage, im at 1.53 now for 475, CL7 with all phases pulled in and twister at strong, like 50mb read diffrence between stronger and strong, doesnt do much, but much for stability.
This board are Faster actually!! look at everest bench...quite fast for 1900mhz.
and look at the 3dmarK!! my personal best for a dual and a single 8800GT!
The same speed at a gigabyte P35T, i got more than 200p more in 3dmark.
heres some bench pics at 4,5Ghz

Got my rampage formula and q9450 @ 3.4 GHz with just upping the fsb and keeping the rest of the volts on auto. Core is @ 1.256. Most of the other volts on auto are pretty much overkill so I'm just trying to get those down now.
By the way, what is DRAM Ref and what is a save setting for it?
Thanks for the tip infa, you are right the 266 strap works better at higher fsb/vmch than 333.
I have been running this baord with my Xeon 3110 for some time know and i like it very much!
Infa: Is 333 strap faster with lower FSB for you? Say Sub 470mhz? I always use 266 strap
ASUS P5E3 Premium 0204 Bios
NB @ 1,31v
Mem @ 1,98v
266 Strap
OCCT memory test, STT ProdjectX needs 2,04v on S2E ;)

Wow I thought the x48 and ddr 3 was much better than nvidia but I am only a little slower in bandwidth at same fsb on 780i and ddr2 running 1:1.

Nvidia Chipset are actually a bit faster in bandwith than Intel, Look at the 790i with high fsb, it kicks my ass at same speed :)
BTW My install has got corrupted TWICE now while benching it at high FSB. dunno whats up. maybe my hdd starting to get bad?
allways crashed at 470-500
Infa and alvis
Have you got some voltages for Q6600, might try 266 strap as well. BTW infa way to go some good Everest scores there shows taht this board can do a lot better. I actually thought that it was bandwith limited and thats why it wasnt letting me clock on 400 strap so well.
So maybe I willl try 266 strap. If you have any rough estimates for FST, NB etc for q6600 i'll give it a go.
BTW installed new watercooling, damn Supreme plexi leaks, it was leaking from the oring. Caused me major headaches plus the fact the damn mounting kit with the backplate means the springs and nuts are a pain to fit, because they are too short. Had to dissasemble it all and revert to my old mounting kit fro XSPC Delta. Also had to grind the metal mounting plate to get it to fit. If your reading this Eddy i need a new O ring, I wouldnt say its that well designed as it doesn't fit the board to well. I am using the XPSC Delta at the min idling 26C and doesn't go above 55C on OCCT which I am glad about.
Bios 0219 run's great on my Rampage Formular, but I'm still testing. :D
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...r-PI_1M_01.jpg
Devitto, dont know what vMCH you need actually, can just assume what will be needed.. if you go up in FSB as it seems you are, I need 1.53 atleast in 266 strap at 480, so ill think you need it too, also look at the VTT, think this one is more major to get right, aswell as the GTL settings when its regardning Quads.
Deepsilver looking goood :) now get that MHZ up! ;)
looks like its not that many that has gone to Asus X48 this time, little sad though, Think i will jump the DFI wagon when T3R comes, allways wanted to try a DFI board.
Boy this board is simply strange. I've restarted my whole system millions of times just trying to get it stable. I had a good 4.0 Ghz at 1.36 vcore with a strap of 333 and I was priming it for about 3 hours. While I was priming I decided to go get a new television for my room. I got the new Samsung 40' LN40A650 and I was ready to make history. I got back home and stopped prime at 5 hours which is okay for me atleast. I connected my dvi to hdmi adapter to the tv. Booted up my computer and no dang thing on the screen. So I thought its okay ill try again, and yet again nothing appeared on the screen. The next thing I did was hit my wall because of anger and then cleared my cmos. I booted up again and to my surprise it worked....... but now my freaking endless hours of overclocking were gone obviously. I was like okay Im going to overclock again so I restart and nothing is on the screen again. WTF is running in my mind at this point. I clear the cmos and it works again! but then when I restart or turn off it shows nothing on the screen again. Im in need of advise you may say but I think the bios for the premium is whats causing the screen problem. Any suggestions?
I think im going to end up waiting for another shipment of E8400's because the one I've been working on is on some other s***.I have not tried strap 266 yet but I will try all settings to get this thing to work! This TV is just insane and so is my rig. I will post up pics soon
Also the TV I was using before, never had this problem. It was a sony 60' also connected via the dvi to hdmi adapter. Everything worked flawlessly so It's hard to determine the real problem here.
NP :)
Yeah the cooling really are great on this board.
making it easier to pump som power into it :D
aren't you going to get a 8400 or something?
regards.
So I still got black screens with every strap! However, when I uninstalled my 8.3 catalyst drivers I restarted and it worked. I got into windows, shutdown and it worked again. I was thinking I fixed the problem but when I went into the BIOS and changed my boot up device it failed once again.:( Im on my TV right now but once I restart or turn it off Im going to have to reset the cmos. I even tried enabling plug and play but no good. I think its the video card now causing these problems. Once again any suggestions?
Is there a clear description of all the BIOS voltage settings available for this board? The Manual seems to have many (PLL, etc, FSB terminations, etc.) that I am unfamiliar with.
Thanks,
David
Evrything looks good and set to auto, so that seems fine. Its only this TV that its happening to.
just got this board but currently still no quad penryn to play with.. dun wanna waste money on q9300 :(
Sorry if I'm repeating something, but I haven't read all the pages.Quote:

I have a samsung 42 LCD at 1080p. It won't display anything if the resolution is set weird. Sometimes it works and than stops working. Did you try using a computer monitor?
Yes Rickpatbrown, it works flawless on both my Sony 15' monitor and my 60' HDTV. The funny thing is that I also have a 19' Samsung monitor and it doesnt work on that either! It seems anything Samsung is not working and Sony is completely working. Appearently, people over at the Asus boards are having the same problem and someone was sent the BIOS 301 revision. I am still awaiting confirmation if that fixes the problem, stay tuned.
is there any way to solve the issue with 3870x2 without having to disable the expressgate?
i dun have spare pci-e card to use to boot the pc incase i've to reset the cmos :(
Hi guys,
I'm facing the same problem as Goldi, very high NB/SB temps! :(
http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/5619/3700dt0.jpg
This is what i've managed to do last nite, and the ambient temp was around 25C..
I have no idea why the NB/SB temp is so high when it's idling...
Perhaps i'll have to remove the heatpipes and reapply TIM??
When i'm on stock volts (Auto) and stock speed, i get about 60C already..
Specs as in my siggy..
How do you configure PCProbe to read the temperature of the NB and SB (besides the Motherboard and CPU)? I don't see any of those option on mine.
Think he's talking about Rampage Board, Premium does not have SB monitoring.
Whats the verdict on this board?
Does this mean water cooling of the NB and SB is necessary? And that fancy heat sink with heat pipe is useless?
I think we need seperate threads for Rampage and P5E3 Premium, it's getting long winded and confusing for people to follow as to which boards they are taking about.
I'm going to do more this weekend infa, been too busy at work.
I agree. Sometimes people would just start writing and do not mention which board they are talking about. So, the ROGs have NB and SB temperature monitoring? I read somewhere that the Premium is better in the area of GTL settings whereas the ROG are better in other areas. Going head to head to head, I wonder which one will win the battle. Possibly the ROG will win, that's my guess.
Has anyone flashed the p5e3 deluxe upto a premium yet???
Has anyone tryed the Rampage mobo with the G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK (2x2gb) memory? I need some confirm about if its working flawless or some issues exist.
Yes that's right, The Premium has very little monitoring, wich i dont like, but what to do right? it only monitors NB temp,Cpu Temp,Vcore ...nothing more, no vMCH no Vdimm etc. BUT the bios are better and has Dual Channel GTL setting wich has helped me actually :) Kick ass cooling for the NB also, alot of pipes but is working great, keeping it like 28c idle and little above 30s when load, this with a 90mm fan over the MB.
Yeah, but how do we split up this thread then, most of it are regarding Premium so, Think Rampage need a new one ;)
Its ok mate :) not been doin so much either, been doin other stuff, got to have time to actually USE my computer with games and stuff to hehe..
My vcore seems to be getting better now, as i said before it maybe have to "wrest" from high benching vcore a while to get back... now i can prime 1.42 at 4,2ghz , before 1.44 .. ah well.. just fill me in later dude!
regards.
i've been using this p5e3 premium with ordinary hyperX ddr3 1375mhz which goes up until 1500mhz only ..
i wonder if it would be a wise choice if i return my premium for a rampage + ddr2 ram?
this is my 1st time on asus board since p5w dh and i hope to have some suggestion / advice from u guys..
8 GB's of the stuff working perfectly. Currently running them at 1066 mhz. Set volts to 1.92, 5-5-5-15, subtimings on AUTO and manually set performance level to 7 with all pull-in's ENABLED. That's where I'm at right now as I just got back from Vacation and haven't played with them too much yet. :D
Hmmm...interesting thread.
I am debating whether to pick up a P5E3 Premium and some Patriot 2x2GB DDR3-1600 tomorrow, or wait for the (as yet unannounced) Rampage Extreme. Could that be the "Pinot Noir" we've seen the pics of around lately?
Yea we do need to separate this thread. But anyways I solved the issue about the 3870x2 and the P5E3 Premium. Apparently Express Gate is causing a problem with these cards and therefore not fully functioning. If people are having this problem just disable Express Gate in the Bios and you should be good to go. Its time to overclock andybody got some new results? Post your voltages and and frquencies.
if some one will manage to make a chart over all settings i can fill it in on settings :)
running now as, 4,2Ghz 1.42v Nb at 1.51 , VTT 1.22
GTL 67.5/70.5
9x467
Mem at 1872 7-6-5-18 , 2,04v
Hi guys,
Had my rig running for about 3 days now,
Rampage Formula
Q9450
4GB OCZ Reaperx 1000MHz
BFG 8800Gtx
Silverstone 1000W ST
All water cooled.
Fired it all up, installed Vista 64bit, working perfectly, tried 3dmark06 to test stabiltiy, fine, 13000 or so at stock.
Started clocking the cpu, easily to 3.6GHz prime stable with 1.3V in bios. I thought, I'll run 3dmark again, but I never got above 20fps, overall score of 3050!! I thought no probs, I'll just put it back to stock and start again.
Back at stock, same thing happens in 3dmark, 3050marks. I also tested it with COD4 and is also stuttery even at 1024x768.
After hours of trying to get it to work and can't I think right, I'll reinstall windows. So I do, all I installed were the chipset drivers, updated intel martix raid drivers, then installed latest gtx drivers. Fired up 3dmark and it was working, about 85fps on the first test. So stopped that, thought I'll up the CPU again, went just to 3GHZ and 3dmark and COD running slow. Back to stock, still running slow!
Whats going on??? I have set my RAM to 2.1V and 5-5-5-12 timings in bios but everything else on auto.
Any time I touch any CPU bios settings 3Dmark and COD4 run slow even when I bring the settings back to stock. I end up having to reinstall windows. I dont dare touch the CPU at the moment incase the same thing happens.
The memory has been tested with memtest86+ and the cpu runs fine at 3.6GHz and prime but will not run a game or 3dmark. Not sure if its the gfx card or the cpu.
Even clearing CMOS wont get 3dmarl to work at stock after the increase in CPU.
Any help much appreciated
Thats a common thing that will happen when to low vMCH or VTT or both..
it wont load the grapics driver, and it will become like that, quads needs quite more than dual in that area too..
try that, if you havent, if you have, then i dunno yet :)
Thanks for the quick reply,
I see poeple running 1.55V on the NB so I'll try that but what is a 'sensible' value for the VTT? Bother are under water so I can push them a bit.
Also, they are on auto now in the bios so when I changed them and it didn't work, why when I put the settings back to auto does did not work still if it just a voltage issue?!
Thanks again
I have played around w/ my RF only a little but I noticed the "auto" settings can result in pretty big over voltages. For example, I had everything auto and stock except my RAM, I needed to change speed from 800 to 1066 MHz. The resulting "auto" volts was something like 2.22. My RAM is rated for 2.0-2.1. Now I started freaking out when I was failing Prime95 stock. I dropped the RAM to 2.05 and all is fine. Just hope it didn't do any damage.
Ok, what FSB are you on? what i've noticed is that 266 strap is the one working all over... its not that logical, couse ive been fighting with this board, rampage and premium are very similar though not the bios. so im probably talking for both.. :)
333 are HARD strap to work on, wont take high fsb and cant take the voltage.
for 450 , the 333 are ok with about 1.40 , over that , switch 266 and pump the vMCH up a bit the higher u get, im 467 using 1.51.
and yeah, some things dont like voltage, some board or hardware... its a good sign though so you know u wont put more, couse it wont work :) and you know what the problem are.
sry i cant match up the settings on quad, but in general it needs some more, sometimes quite more.
BTW fellows! im seeing BIOS 401 for the Premium now!
ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5E3_Premium/P5E3-ASUS-Premium-0401.zip
someone willing to try? :)
I can be on stock FSB of 333 or I can run 450 with the CPU prime stable and the system appearing to run fine apart from the slow graphics.
I have the NB set at 1.55V for a test, CPU at 1.3V, SB 1.1V which runs 3.6GHz perfectly on the chip (prime 8hours stable, temps mid 50's load, idle 35ish). I have left the voltages at that and taken the FSB back to the stock 333 to eliminate it being a voltage problem.
This morning I booted up with 3.6GHz and 3dMark06 and COD4 run perfectly, just under 14000 marks, BUT, reboot, stops working, back to running slow.
It seems completely ramdom and I have no idea what's up,
Any more thoughts?
Cheers
Ehm.... sounds weird.. tried to change drivers? just a shot.
what pci-e mhz hare you on?
Does anybody have water on this board? (P5E3 Premium)
I'm thinking about making the move to X48 and DDR3 and I've got blocks for CPU, Mosfets, NB and SB for my Maximus that I'd like to bring over to this board, but looking at the NB, it doesn't look good for my EK NB-S-Max for fitting on this board. I've also got the EK NB/SB Asus 4 which apparently does fit on the P5E3 Deluxe SB, so it should be ok on this one.
Anyone given it a try?
I just built a P5E3 Premium with Windows XP SP 2 (loaded ICH9 drivers from floppy), e8400, 8800GT, Pioneer SATA Blu-Ray BDC-2202B, Barracuda 7200.11. I had to install the OS with IDE mode to boot from the DVD drive. I have no Parallel devices and a floppy drive. Is there Any way to change to AHCI? I get BSOD if I try to change it back in the BIOS. Thanks. DO I need to install on an IDE DVD and then install the new SATA DVD?
Anybody's got a better link to the newest BIOS 0401 yet? The link above requires a username and password, which I don't have.
Ok, i myself downloaded it from that place :)
asus FTP are public all the way, weird it doesnt work for you :)
ahh never mind
cheers!
The new bios is on the main Asus website now too. ;)
Has anybody tried 0401 Bios yet? Any details on fixes or improvements? I have not yet seen any confirmation of this Bios release.
Hi Infa how's the premium going??
I did one for my Asus P5E3 Deluxe feel free to copy, use & adapt it if it's any use.Quote:

Must admit i'm pretty happy with the Gigabyte GA X48T DQ6
just hit this today http://valid.x86-secret.com/cache/banner/344932.png
luck:)
Well, for me it seems they changed the STRAP in some way..
when flashed and then reloaded my settings i had before, it did go blank
then i put strap 333 and it booted up fine..dunno whats up.
supahank :) yeah its working out fine! nothing spectacular, but all ok :)
nice Fsb u got there, im getting about the same, maybe more with more than 1.60, but didnt bother to test more :)
regards.
If my Strap is set at Auto, which one the BIOS actually choose when my memory frequency is at 1333 (333 (ie: 4x333=1333) my guess)?
Asus.com -- at least the support page for the US site has had 0401 up all day: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
Maybe I need to clear my internet cache/temp files, but it's still showing only 0204. But anyway, I was able to download off the FTP site, so it's all cool. THanks..
RAMPAGE MAXIMUS
Coming from Opteron 165 (939), this is all new. What's a FSB ? Just kidding.Quote:
I'm facing the same problem as Goldi, very high NB/SB temps!
My NB is 60 degrees also according to Asus probe. What are acceptable limits to NB temperatures?
I thought that I had problems with the CPU temp also. It read 31 degress at stock idle and load on water. I went to 3.2Ghz and temps stayed the same. I wasn't trying to overclock much if the temperature wasn't being monitored accutately. I pushed a little more, 3.6Ghz with a little bump in CPUv. Finally, temps budged to 34 degrees. These 45nm Wolfdales are sick!
I also seem to have a faulty PCI slot. The lower one doesn't work with my creative audigy card. It works in the top PCI slot. Any suggestions?
I hope that Goldi or Philberx remount there NB HS to see if that is the problem. It is such a PITA to remove the MB. I hope to hold off on the RMA for the PCI if I can. That way, I'll have a chance to exchange in a few months if x48 chips get refined.
BTW, I ordered mine from Newegg on April, 07. I'll try to get specific numbers off the board later.
Definitely need a new thread.
Great news m8 , keep on clocking :up:Quote:

Do you guys leave lineload calibration on or turn it off?
Metro has started up a thread specifically to do with P5E3 Premium at this link

Maybe people should post there to save confusion.
Does it make sense to change my Foxconn MARS that could run 502FSB stable to this X48 Asus mobo?
I tried some lower voltages last night for my NB and what do you know? Temps went way down . . . Duh.Quote:

I had the NB chipset at about 1.6v. I think that I set it there after reading what pcProbe was measuring from the auto setting. I'm not sure why they put it so high on auto.
It's still a little warm. I would like it under 40 C (before I start pushing it). I don't have active cooling on it. I don't know if I will reseat the heatsink or just trying getting a fan.
hey guys, anyone been able to OC 8500's or any kit of ram on a rampage past 1066mhz? Please share your experience here
Anyone have any information on the release date for the Rampage Extreme?
??? ???
Hmm.. i did not bother to reseat my NB heatsink, what i did was to strap a 60mm 4000rpm sanace fan over the nb heatsink next to the cpu..
Now my NB/SB Temps are around 48/46 IDLE at 1.3V and 56/54 on LOAD from PC Probe.
Without active cooling, it was 60 to 70C!!
Hey I just got my system up and running yesterday. I have the rampage formula x48. I installed the temp monitoring software that came with it and a warning came up after playing css. The NB was at 51C. Is that normal & the alarm is just set too low? I have the cpu and graphics on watercool (QX9650 & 3870x2). My Cpu was at 23C and sb at 39C. The NB was so much higher im kinda scared im gonna fry something =/. I have not overclocked anything =/
Well i bought a rampage formula x48 today
It looks awesome and i do love the copper on it but...... it's not gonna give me enough performance
So what is the first thing you do when you unpack your brand spanking new motherboard?! that's right, rip off every bit of copper :bsod:

I'm also receiving a radiator from feser to cool everything down and i already got some scythe fans to help with it
Updates next week monday if my package has arrived
Hey guys,
I got a Rampage Formula today, and.. it wont POST.
At first, it kept stalling at "DET DRAM" no matter wich of the slots i used. I tested with 2 different OCZ Flex 9200's aswell as a Crucial Ballistix. Finally found that if i put the Ballistix in slot4, and one of the OCZ's in slot1, i would get all the way to "USBFINAL" where it would stall again. With this setup, POST screen would say memory is running in dual channel mode(?) at 667. One theory i have is that the vDDR is too low on this board for anything higher, and that im forcing it to that speed by using 2 different memsticks. Too bad i cant actually get into the bios to up the vDDR..
Any idea guys ?
CPU is an E6750 that has, honestly, been through its share of high voltage/high temperature treatment. Could this be it, or is it more likely that all 3 memory sticks are defective ?
Ive tested with 2 different PSU's. Unfortunately, my old DDR2 board is dead, so i cant test the sticks and cpu on that,- hence the reason i got this board.
Im getting an E8400 tomorrow. Hoping that will solve the issue. If the OCZ's really are dead it'd be pretty disappointing, as i have'nt ever run them past 2.3V wich is spec.
As i suspected, the OCZ and Crucial sticks were rated for too high voltage. Once i got an old 512mb ddr stick and got into BIOS to change the voltage, it booted happily with the OCZ's. YAY
Man this e8400 runs much colder than the 6750 i had, win.
My SIIE is now on SALE.
I am looking for a DDR3 X48 based mobo, most important for me is stability when running fsb 450 / mem 900, linked & synched.
What would you guys advise me to pick:
Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 rev1.1?
Or Asus P5E3 premium?
P5E3 Premium new@bios

Thanks :)
any news on whats new? tried it ? changes?
cheers!
I used to get that when I first built my rig too , mine would post, boot and run at stock but didnt like even 1MHz overclock and would hang at DET DRAM . Im not sure why but my mobo didnt like my 6400 Ballistix (seems to be a common issue) so I got a set of Team Extreem 6400 that allowed a clock to about 880MHz then same problem came back , so I got a set of Team 1066 that had been tested to 1200 and its all good , no limits now , just cpu limits .
I hope that helps .
Guys , Im not happy with the clocks on my q6600 and I want to keep going with my Rampaged Formula , what cpu would you guy get for benching ? QX9650 would be the obvious best choice but way too dear for me , how well do these mobos clock 45nm quads ? Can I get one to 4GHz on water ?
Any help would be great.

I have a problem with my Rampage, I can't run my @ SPD settings which is 533Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.1v.
This is my system:
E6400
Rampage Forumla
3870 CF
Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF 4096MB
Tagan 550W
I'm running 400fsb and when I try to set my rams @ 533Mhz I can't even get into BIOS without a reset.
Do you think it's my CPU that causes these problems?
I have not flashed my BIOS and I'm using the blue slots for my memory.
Help/Tips is appreciated!
