be careful with that 1.99 vcore...i hope that is not a 24/7 setting???...victor wang used less and his "sweet" 9650 is no longer working.

Course it is, don't we all run our QX9650's at 5500MHz+ 24/7? :p:
until you see victor weeping then you truly don't understand!:D;)
Stockcooling afaik
Sorry , I forget to write vga clock speed:) This is Asus 8800GT Top edition and coming directly 700mhz gpu speed. I use 730mhz gpu
Cpu vcore is too much yes:) I don't use dailiy QX9650 , only for benchmark:D
Also this is 96.5k single 8800Ultra LN2 900mhz gpu speed.:)

Same cpu air cooling 1.45v with Abit quad GT 480fsb quad core:D

Sorry for the OT.... As for the 1.99v, its hard to put a number which can be considered "safe" for this cpu, I think that safe number is up to the person and how much he's willing to gamble... I dont want to put that much voltage on mine yet but Im sure I will later on, but I wont put more than 2v....
Victor's awesome cpu died at ~1.65v i think and thats way too low a voltage to blame the vcore as the reason for its death even on water...
Nice cpu brandy.... what is the max fsb on ln2? Also what size mems on the GT, does it affect the score if 256, 512 or 1024? thanks
Back at posting, Brandy? Can't wait for you to start firing up the big guns :D
4800+ mhz with air cooling amazing :) thats 45 nm's advantage :)
We (my team H.O.T.) have tested about 9 x QX9650 RETAILs.....7 of them are L740 and 2 of them are L739.....
Well.....the L740s SUCK BIG TIME..... :(
ONLY ONE of them (L740) did ~5508MHz 3D......ALL the others where not that good.....L739 are more "decent".....
I captured some of them..... :)
http://www.hipro-tech.com/images/hip.../5_RETAILS.jpg
woah 9x QX9650!
Were L740x poor for air/water too ?
Thanks for the heads up hipro, this is some good info mate and will help most get the most from there setups, but how many CPU's looks like you had some fun there mate.
you know 9 is not enough.:D
Sry, i wrote it yet in another thread but the gurus are here so:
"Someone know how good L739A769 is??" :D
that sucks dude :(
anyone checked the L41's yet? or can we just expect them to be even worse?
i´m thinking in buying one retail, so L40xxxx are not so good as L39xxxx?
Grabbed a Q6600 to test on my modded mach2 on new dfi p35...don't wanna fsb limitation :D
L740B258... last three magic numbers ...003
What do you think Hipro?
SLACR - G0 ... let's see waiting for new mobo!
Well if sucks i bring another one lol :D
Did you already try that beast on a multi-gpu system ?
Bought a QX9650 on Ebay (:() for 865$ ;)
My first Extreme edition CPU, just hope my water cooling can cool this little devil enough ;)
They cost about 1300-1400$ (USD) in Norway :(
Am I aiming to high if I want 4.6Ghz 24/7 ?
Is 1.6v to high for one year of use (hope not :P)
probably a little high, but you can try.
Got it on friday, but haven't had the time to test it yet ...
It is a L740A :( but the number on the little black sticker ends on 915 :bravo:
1.6v!!!!!! That's going to burn it out in a couple months right??
The specs say:
I'm testing mine at 1.36 volts 24/7 but it's probably dangerous. As long as it lasts 2 years, It's good enough for me. In 2 years this baby will be slow as molasses.Code:Max processor input voltage (VID) - 1.360v
I'm confused though, because in my BIOS I have it set @ 1.36v but cpu-z sees it as 1.280v. Can I up it some more in the BIOS till cpu-z says 1.36v or should I go with my settings in the BIOS?
There are reports of 1.5V+ degrading 65nm chips. Not all of them do it, for example yours seems fine, but the equivalent on 45nm would be 1.4V+ (the "Vmax" for 45nm is 1.45V as opposed to the 1.55V of 65nm).
I just don't want to burn a valuable chip.
The L740s can be very nice for air/water despite what hipro has shown with subzero cooling.
Yes on air/water they are doing well.... ;)
is anyone got to 6GHZ with QX9650 ???
Coolaler did it already
QX9650
Coolaler - 6058MHz http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=688838 (SPi 1M WR btw ;))
k|ngp|n - 6008MHz http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=698084
No_name - 6114MHz http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=698353 (SPi 1M) and cpu-z validation at 6247MHz ( - must be the 15th time I use that emoticon to express my feelings about that extreme cpu frequency :D :p:) http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=311022
AndreYang - 6038MHz http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=678438
i'm about to pull the trigger on a L739A746, any speculations on how it'll perform? the seller had his maximus' bios Vcore set to auto and it defaulted at 1.44V at 400x10. what do you guys think? i'm new to yorkies and don't know what to expect.
L740B I had could do 3.8GHz at 1.36v
At 4.0GHz it required 1.44v for 24/7
For 4.4v it needed 1.6v and I didn't go above that because I'm only on water.
that is a bad one, mine that is 40B or A,
On dice I could do 5.5Ghz and on LN2 I could take it to 5.8Ghz
Haven't tested max on water or air, for the extreme cooling I used 1.93v
Waffer is 915
Congraz Hipro :P
Damn... really wished these boxes show the wafer # like on regular chips.
I've got here Q744B101
So far 4630mhz @ 1.62v water cooled .. looks nice
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/8...7707hd5.th.jpg
My new one is L744B150
Needs 1.38v for 4.0GHz so far, but not so good temps (I need to remount my waterblock again, maybe lap everything).
It's funny, my L740B249 needed 1.44v for 4.0GHz.
Finally got a 9650, 4.8GHz SuperPI stable :)
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/7...5431or1.th.jpg
You really need to put me in touch with your sources NR, how many QX chips in the last 2 months is that? About 6+?
well just bought a new qx9650, not tested yet but at least it has a lower vid (1,135v l748b) than my old one. hope it will clock better than my last one.
maybe a silly question...but does anyone know the real tj.max of the qx series? coretemp shows 105°c and realtemp 95°c or is it just a reading error.
Man, I'm getting insanely high temps on mine.
I've remounted several times and at 4.0 GHz with 1.4v it's getting up to 80!
This is with a nozzled Fuzion with NB and Mosfets in the loop on a PA120.2 with 4 Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E.
Could it be just too much for my loop? Or is this an extra hot chip?
still had no time to oc it since i'm still trying to solve my freeze prob with the quad 9800gx2 that so f.... annoying.
Intel's spec. finder show the real tj. max for the CPU ;)
But I'm amazed that my ship did 5.8Ghz, when i changed MB today I saw that it was a 40A not B, that one we know to be the worst chip out there :(
But my waffer number is 915 and VID is 1.135v :S
With the Week39 I'm testing right now under ss I finally seem to have it stable at 435x10 with Vcore 1.49V (set 1.475V) under load and VTT 1.36-1.38 (set 1.35V), NB 1.57V (set 1.604V) and GTLs on this DFI LP X38 at 75 75 80.
Last night I was trying to find the highest stable FSB (multi at 6x) with the VTT set to 1.35V and adjusting the GTLs. 440MHz just would not work. The longest I got OCCT to run was 14mins.
440 wanted my previous 1.438V VTT to be stable. The max FSB I could possibly get stable was 455MHz but it required a VTT of 1.603V which I felt was a bit suicidal.
Next I'll try to lower the FSB and raise the multi to 10,5 and see if I can get the CPU speed stable a bit higher! ;)
Just a bit annoying that this chip boots all the way up to 5GHz but to get it stable I have to back off a whole 650MHz...
anyone know anything about the L746B? iv got one lying around, havnt opened it yet tho (stuck with a 650i mobo atm =[).
I personally got it handed to me by an intel personall so it better be good lol!
new QX 739A645

hello hipro5. my name is Spiros and i'm from Igoumenitsa(Greece). i have this problem. i have this system: mobo:Asus P5E3 Premium with X48 chipset, CPU Intel QX9650(batch L744B156) and memory: Corsair Dominator DDR3 at 1800Mhz. i don't want to make something extreme with this. i only want to put the memory to play at 1800mhz. so in bios i put
manual,
multiplier to 7.0,
FSB Strap to Northbridge 400,
FSB at 450,
PCI-E:100,
the memory 1800,
timings : 7,7,7,20,
command rate: 2N
and memory voltage 2.0V
all the memory settings are the stock settings.
all the other settings i leave them to auto.
also the DRAM Static..and DRAM Dynamic...i put them to disabled and load line calibration i checked to both normal and performance and CPU Spread Spectrum and PCIE Spread Spectrum also disabled. so i have the CPU at 3.15GH and memory at 1800Mhz.
Now the problem is that the system is not stable.
if i run CPU Stability Test after 1-2 minutes says problem in TPrime module. also in Prime95 multicore after a while fails in 2 cores.
please can you advice me what settings may i put to make my system stable?
also i noticed in Real Temp that from cpu the core 1 sensor is stuck at 40c always.only if i overclock to 4Gh the sensor starts to work. in my system i have a watercooling solution from Thermaltake. but the cpu temp is idle at 45c. is it right this temp for this cpu? also if i underclock the temp stays at 45c. i think something is wrong here. also i remember that the 3 last numbers of the stepping/wafers is 778. i have bad luck with my cpu? should i RMA it?
please my friend help me with this.
be well my friend. Spiros!!!
It is most likely unstable because to get 450fsb from a quad you normally need to spend time tweaking.
Here are my results with QX9650. I am debating going upto 1.6 V to see how I can take this chip. What do you guys think about the temperatures I am getting with the water cooling. Do they seem reasonable ? All temperatures are recorder at 25 deg C Room Temperature.
T M please, can you advice me what settings can i put, or with what settings can i test to have stable my system?
this is what i get from CPU stability test and real temp:
