yes but as someone asked earlier in the post. When can we buy them ?
I have yet to read anything in the specs of this board about eSata? Does it support it? Could I use one of the Silicon Image ports for it? If the answer is "yes", then I will most definately be getting it!
Shawn
360fsb is acceptable ... but of all the nforce 680i board only EVGA680i A1 rev can OC ketnsfield 400+fsb ... again i aint gonna get that as it has some stability issue
so any other maker that makes nforce680 board that can take ketnsfiled over 400fsb will be most ideal ... and i mean ANY , Asus, GB , Abit , DFI come on!
This has turn in to a new dilemma for me. I just received my EVGA 680i A1 from NewEgg today...the box it's on top of my desk next to me, ready to replace my much hated p5b-deluxe.:stick: What do you guys think, should I just go ahead and install it, or returned it to NewEgg, and wait( I am not willing to wait more than 2-3 weeks) for this new motherboard?
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.:)
dfi is typically VERY slow to release and it takes even longer to work the bugs out.... if you want a board now get it now.
if you dont mind waiting, wait it out. but i wouldn't expect it before the end of the month
I'm certainly looking forward to this MB. The layout is one of the best I've seen in a while; okay I'm also a DFI fanboy from the DIY-Street.
I just hope i comes out sooner rather than later.
Here in Tokyo, the LANPARTY UT NF680I SLI-T2R/G go retail from April 27th...
I wonder though, the local distro says they will be "true" 680i chipset, but the DFI website only has a entry for the 680i LT model...
HTH,
;-)
and what about price ?
Let's hope it hits the US market around the same time.
According to nVidia's specs the 680i LT chipset is virtually identical to the 680i; the major difference being that the LT doesn't support linkboost. However, nVidia has disabled a lot of features on the reference 680i LT design. DFI's board unlocks the full potential of the chipset to be comparable to the reference 680i; so naturally people assume that DFI has to be using the regular 680i chipset.

I'm pretty sure, 680i LT and normal 680i SLI are identical physically, like nForce4-4X/Ultra/SLI was.
looks nice
this board will give us some fun in the future with threads from people who killed the nb while mounting the cooler or even better, people who thought the cooler is just an option. :D
yes i know that people buying such a board should know about it, but i have seen so many things from "enthusiasts" that i wouldn't wonder about stupid actions like this.
really? ididnt know that...what was the reason? i think i am still on p24 or p25, not had a need to update bios, as i have not had any probs with my board since its release in nov.
the asus 680/650 boards still have linkboost in bios... at least the sli plus version does for sure as of 0602 bios release.
not correct!...the Abit AB9 QuadGT can do it...look at my specs...the only reason i am not at 420 FSB or even 400 FSB is due to the higher vcore that i do not want to apply since i am aircooling....right now i am applying 1.48v for 380...if i want to live at 400 FSB, i would need about 1.55v, and, 420 would need about 1.62V....that's for MY Q6600...i've seen a few who can go to 440-450 on a QX6700...seems they are better overclockers.
I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but is there any more plans to try and eek more out of a quad-core on this board? Andre, have you exhausted everything at your BIOS displosal on this? What about Q6600 testing? Given the immanent price drop of the Q6600 I suspect it will be a popular choice for this board. (My board decision will be based entirely on what SLI board can max out a Q6600 and if I had to buy one today, it looks like eVGA all the way)
:horse:
Also, what about 4GB RAM on this board?
I will exhaust all bios option before retail box coming.
Here is 2GB*4 Test.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=140
are you going to post pictures, andre?
i guess i miss the meaning of the link...it just shows a short text message that says this: "8GB Test"
I take some 8GB(2GB*4) pics.

 holy crap those G-skill 8GB(2GB*4) sticks must have been really expensive ???
AndreYang how did you get a e6850.???????
lol nice answer :D
8Gb looks good, thats 8 times more than I have lol :)
Nice tests Andre...
This board looks great and the results are good, too ;)
Does that RAM overclock at all?
damn active cooling SB. Hmm
Is it more difficult (or impossible) to overclock ram when you are running that much or all 4 slots?
As long as all sticks are identical there shouldn't be any issues for OCing the RAM,
Please find picture of retail box :)
Actually a nice looking package.
But I'm more concerned about what the board has to offer than I am about the box.
I hope it gets released soon.
it is harder to get a higher FSB overclock when you go beyond 2 sticks...the limitation is really going to be any one of the four sticks not cooperating...all it takes is one stick to drag the whole system, proverbially, down!...andre mentioned those sticks are bought in pairs so you know at least two should be matched up...but even that can be a problem...for example, i bought a pair of Dominators DDR1142...the original pair had one stick that would stop at around DDR1000 speed while the other went right up to DDR1142...the replacement pair worked as advertised.
Hey Andre, would you say the DFI or the Abit 680i-Board is the better Choice?
@ All
Does OCZ Flex run on the EVGA 680i?
huh they decided to do something different this time with the package... i'm really liking this new approach...very stylish ... way to DFI :toast:
um price or does anyone know yet?
It is c. 240$.
But please do not forget
Hey Andre, would you say the DFI or the Abit 680i-Board is the better Choice?
@ All
Does OCZ Flex run on the EVGA 680i?
It is very important for me.
I would guess around $300 (hopefully less than that!)
AndreYang,
Have gotten the board above 500FSB?
Thanks,
OPP
Hey OPP...how's it going?...good to see you "out and about!";)
Abit bios is still buggy but the latest beta has cleared up a few issues. My biggest complaint on the abit is the massive vdroop of this board @ load. I have to set 1.5125v in bios foro the load to stay @ 1.42-1.43v. It appears the DFI board is faster for Pi & stuff. The chipset may run cooler because of that massive northbridge cooler which may help in overclocking. The abit is expensive though but I still like the Uguru utility & front Panel. I boot @ 3.6ghz 1.4025vcore 24/, but crank it up with the uGuru utility for benching etc.
Last I read is there's another beta that's suppose to be made available @ their forum later today. I'm currently using V1.2 Beta 1 - 03/29/2007 which has the nice "evaluation rom not for resale" on the screen when I boot. This bios did however solve the usb keyboard & mouse in bios issue.
have you tried the EVGA A1 or T1 revision boards?
Would be interesting to see how far the chipset can go without being riddled by heat issues.
hahahaha nice.. :)
hope the board is cheaper than the asus offerings.. :)
There is a store here in Australia that has the board on pre-order for $440AUD. Not bad compared to all the other 680i boards available.
I think the only thing that's stopped me from buying this board is the price. It's quite a bit more than the P5N32-E SLI. Do you happen to have any experience with the asus?
I'd like the DFI most of all, but I think it'll be too long for a retail release. I'm in the market NOW :)
-Collin-
If you're in the market now, the Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus and Non-plus boards are both excellent choices. They perform on par with the Striker Extreme but do not cost an arm and a leg.
I have the plus board and it's been a lot of fun to tweak. However, like all other boards, it has its quirks and takes a bit of patience to learn.
Another good option is the eVGA 680i board which can be had for $180-ish after rebate.
But if you can just wait a bit longer, I think the DFI board will be worth the wait. Hopefully they'll address the quadcore overclocking issue with a new bios update.
I thought that the hybrid motherboard with the older 5 series sli chip didn't clock as well? I just saw that the Abit board is around $310 which is a little too steep for me. For $225, I can get the P5N32-E SLI. I would ultimately like that the most. It has 3.45v available for ram as well.
We'll see what the price of this DFI board is though. I suppose I can live with my QUADGT for a few more weeks if I have to. :(
-Collin-
No I never tried the asus 680i chipset based boards. I did however try the 650i Asus board & it didn't acheive FSB over 450mhz. Only the Striker from what I read would suit my overclocking and after reading alot of problems with that & the other Nvidia Asus boards I stayed clear of it. Limited vcore upon intial release was a problem for me too. Comparitively, the Asus offerings are not faster or more stable than the evga 680i. The evga is very memory friendly & I kinda wish I had kept my particular board. Of all the boards I've overclocked since conroe came out, it was by far the easiest. It pushed my E6400 to 3.7ghz right out the box & all I did was set the cpu-vtt to 1.5v & cpu to 1.5v. No increase on the northbrige or southbridge voltages were necessary. Nor was any indept tweaking. Unfortunately @ that time the ps2 keyboard & mouse were unuasble when overclocking. After the P25 bios didn't solve the problem, & raid was still hit or miss I returned the board because my 30 days was coming up. If you don't like the price or availability of the DFI board, consider the evga. Supposedly most of the bugs are worked out and the new revision is quad core FSB friendly. I love my IN9 32-Max. It's as worth the $300 price tag, as much as the P5W DH was worth its $269.
oh no!...don't even think about 3.45v as an attraction!...haven't you been reading about people burning their ram up with 2.4v and above....you might go to 2.6 just for a very short time with a fan blowing air on the ram but that vmem will certainly burn your ram up in about 2-3 weeks if you decide to run the puter for any lengthy period.
Hahaha. you're making even ME want the IN9. :)
The plus board has been good to me. it's based off of the 650i NB but performs just as well as its bigger brother.
the vcore issue has been resolved on the plus board with the release of the 0602 bios. vcore over 1.65 works properly.
i haven't had too many problems with this board minus finding the strongest dividers that work with this board.
my board can do 500 mhz w/o breaking a sweat with a little tweaking and a replaced NB heatsink.
back on to the topic... any word yet on price (for the 5th time) :slap:
I'd buy it just for the colour scheme:)
when is this coming to stores in the US?
they don't like fry's policy for returns...hehehe:)
yeah, alot of people would return the old lan party boards, that board being an enthusiast board, alot of noobies tried messing with it, and not being able to tweak it right, they think its "faulty" but yeah if frys gets it im gonna buy this board and sell my evga....the only issue i am having with evga is the noise it makes under load.
you know you can get rid of that noise which comes from the coil packs by putting silcon on the coil to stop the harmonics coming from it...to find the coil pack(s) just use your finger to press on the coil when the noise starts.
Any Update on release date ?
My newest striker bios removes linkboost so it seems like the LT and the normal 680i have pretty much no difference now.
Is there going to be any more quad-core overclocking with this board or what? :) :stick:
oooh...I may reconsider doing SLI because of this board..
Still no news on a release date? My fingers are itching to buy myself a new computer with this motherboard as the base. But I can't wait forever...
Asus boards are :banana::banana::banana: and dont work worth a damn, not to mention, have shotty support. DFi engineers their stuff a hell of lot better than Asus does on its best boards. Enjoy your craptactular Asus product, while i wait for the DFI and will work without incident, esp WITHOUT the heatpipe bull:banana::banana::banana::banana: and price gouging.
The box kind of reminds me of a Xbox 360 box.
I never said one bad thing about DFI or one good thing about Asus. I've always loved DFI and would buy them any chance I get. I wouldn't call Asus crap, though. They get their boards to the market extremely fast and while some may have issues, they work pretty fast in making new bioses and what not. I think it's safe to say that any company makes good and bad products and I've had my share of good and bad from Asus. Would you really go as far as to say the Commando or Striker boards are crap?
-Collin-
So do you think $260USD for this board would be out of line? I have an opportunity to get it for this price as a pre-order.
share and share alike
This pic is from Oskar Wu. I think he has solved Quad-CPU high fsb problem, but I don't receive new bios yet. Maybe I will post in few days.

So what's the max FSB you fellows are getting with this board on a 7x multi with a C2D?
