Have you tried LLC disabled?
Also, what were the load temps on that 4200Mhz overclock you showed?

cod4 and cod5 work fine for me with PB ....
Just played around 3hours of COD4, across 3 different servers and no PB issues at all. Perhaps the lazy ****ers have decided to acknowledge W7 early, who knows, but at the mo, it seems to work ok :D
On topic, got my UD5 running BIOS f8b with my i7 920 D0 at 3.6 (18*200) @ 1.2v (1.17v in windows).....is that considered a 'normal'-ish voltage for 3.6??
Yes bud drob becomes huge:shocked:
Temps:
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/2076/linx4200.jpg
only had i950 for half hour, and 5th boot, but so far loving it...4.6 ghz 1m spi stable at 1.376 vcore.
Edit: holy crap this chip is hot. I think I could run 4.5ghz 24/7 if could control temps. I started linx 5gb, came back it was on the 4th pass, temps were already 95C. Tried prime, 5 mins into it 88C...not running that o/n on my new cpu. So much for 25C ambients, 6 scythe push/pull at 1500rpms on dedicated cpu loop with PA 120.3, my i7 is laughing at it.

I'm considering getting a Core i7 950 with the UD5, and I got a question. Whats the stock volts for the 950 and whats the max multiplier you can use? Also I'm aiming for 4Ghz on air if I get it and what kind of volts do I need to stabilize the 950?
rge what stepping man?
My batch # 3847B005, got it from newegg.
Snipped in case Gigabyte would get upset, I will ask and then add back if they do not mind.
I like the EX58-UD5 , its very easy to OC and rock solid stable mobo
I'm running my CPU @3.8 v1.12 and my memory @1900 v1.64 Only :)
I also reached 4.0 very easy ( 20 X 200 ) and its very stable , but 3.8 its just fine for my games :D
Was changing the paste on my cpu the other day when i accidently bent a few pins in the socket :shakes: so i've ordered a replacement. Is it a problem to take out the bios chip from the old board and put it in the new one?
Thanks, yeah my delta from air intake 26.2 C to water 32.1 C = 5.9C. I would need a Quad rad or 140x3 to get maybe another 2-3C or delta down to 4C is about the best I could do with fan speed I am willing to use, 1400 rpm 6/push/pull, and maybe another 1-2C with heatkiller, but they are out of stock everywhere. About 4-5C I could gain which would definitely help, 83 would make me much happier than 88 load. I have reseated 4x all within 1C of each other. Biggest issue is 50C delta between water temps and core temps vs 40C delta I had with my i940, not sure if all that is just hot cpu or some of it is IHS/block contact non-ideal.
So far I am settling for 4.4 prime 13hrs stable with vcore 1.34, at least temps are reasonable.

Bclk is almost @ "the wall" (without PCIe tweaking, which I will test in a few hours)
Btw, I also tested the F8bmod bios (with the new AHCI rom) but I lost some options so I reverted to F8b normal.
Those 4Ghz+ benchmarks on air, are they stable? To reach that high on air is quite impressive even if it wasn't stable.
Hi mate. New to this and could use some help.
Tried following giga's guide to 4Ghz found here (vcore 1,4v) and couldnt post.
I just want to reach 3,8-3,6 and be ok for now. (Summer being really hot in Greece.I have like 31-33 C ambient right now :) )
If you could spare me some time, could you post the exact changes you made in your bios to reach that nice overclock?
I have the F7 bios, which one do you use?
Any suggestions on xmp profiles when OCing? should it be disabled?
And what are the stock MHz for your memory; 1900 sound hard for me to reach with the 1600MHz sticks I ve got which btw reach 1600MHz only with xmp enabled, otherwise they run at 1066...
Thanks in advance mate.
Memory run 1066 if you have everything on stock:)
But 1600 its enough for 4ghz, but what did you sett on the vtt-volt?
I running UD4P with F8 bios and running 4ghz on 1,2v vcore and 1,27vtt. The same settings on F7.
Did you remember to sett qpi link speed to X36 and sett Uncore to 2+1 ( if you have choose 6 on the memory you have to set 13 on uncore)
I did exactly as suggested by gigabyte's guide.
vcore 1,4v , vtt 1,5-1,52v .
C1E, xmp, intel turbo, all disabled.
Memory x6, uncore 13, qpi x36.
:(
Their guide is bunk dude. That VTT voltage is unnecessary and that vcore is for C0 920's not D0's.
yeah, the voltage in that guide is to high, If you have a D0 that need 1,4vcore under load , i will say you are a realy unlucky dude.
LOL...yeah, I actually am planning a new case just to cool my i7 better...not to mention in future when 16 core versions/32nm comes out...cant wait to see how hot those will be, regardless of what intel states about increased power efficiency, which obviously goes out the window with OCing.
I will try the HK as soon as one comes in stock somewhere, and getting one of these cases (link below) if they ever get built...and put a quad rad up top just for i7, and video cards will do fine with 360.

I've modded the Extreme F8x BIOS and updated the Intel AHCI ROM to 1.20E and Intel RAID ROM to v8.5.0.1030
I tested it by flashing it to my UD5, and AHCI is working great.
If anyone would like to try it:

I need to learn what AHCI means

That is some nice low volts for 4ghz koc...I'm at 3.6ghz on the same volts (1.5v in BIOS??), wonder if it'll get me to 4ghz??
wow 1.5v for 3.6 :eek:Quote:

i run 3.8 with 1.1v only and 4.0 with 1.2 only in the bios and its very stable
you dont need more than 1.2-1.3v for 4ghz

am i wrong or what ?
I was wondering if I could get some help in the right direction with my Extreme board. My system specs are listed in my sig, but to start off, using my old DFI UT x58 and ASUS P6T6 I was able to get my rig to post at 20x192(with turbo mode on, so I guess 21x) no problem. For that setting I used 1.325v vCore, 1.3v VTT, 1.8v PLL, 1.8v DRAM, and about 1.26v for the IOH (not ICH). Ram I would leave on Auto timings and start at the lowest multi/speed listed in bios (generally under 1200MHz). Now using these settings with bot the DFI and ASUS I got the board to post up to 21x216 with out a problem, but now, those settings don't even post. My D0 I got second hand from someone who using a Gigabyte Extreme was able to get this chip to do 4.62GHz, so I know the problem most likely is a BIOS setting, but since I am unfamiliar with some of the new terms and general layout of Gigabyte, I'm not sure where to start, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
well , i disable the physx and i score 24921 for the CPUQuote:
That's because you have physx enabled, he doesn't. People who disable it, usually submit their scores to hwbot where it is an illegal setting.
i think this is fair result :)
wow... so I tried to work with bios f8b and then f7 with nothing but horribleness. I would get the bioses loaded and start fresh from a clean slate then trying to get my old OC settings stable was a disaster... f8b went into a boot post loop every time I would even get half way through my bios configs... I would have to full power the mobo down (power out of the psu) to get it to stop. f7 made it through all the configs but windows would not load... after several hours of this I gave up and went back to f5e. Also, 7f was going the same damn multi-post thing making my areca raid card beeping like a smoke alarm in forest fire... the whole reason I wanted to get a new bios was to avoid that... so I guess all of these gigabyte bioses do this when the board is overclocked?? I am thinking about soldering the buzzer off the raid card at this point. sheesh!
sorry mate i didn't notes your post :)
speaking about summer , we are Toast here in Kuwait , but Swimming helps a lot, to bear the summer heat :surf:
Any way back to the topic , i also followed giga's guide to 4Ghz , but i changed some settings for more stability

and the last thing the volts :
set all the volts to Auto except Vcore , set it to 1.125
and Dram voltage as same your memory spec.
With these setting your memory will OC@1800 , So. you need to rise the volt to 1.66 or 1.7 and keep the timing at auto for more stability and change the timing after you successfully post to the window
my memory stock speed 1600 with timing 7-8-7-20 , and i reached 2000 with timing 8-8-8-24 at 1.68v
Also i used F8b bios
Hope these setting help
Thank you for your time and answer.
I will give the settings a try and get back for some feedback.
Again, thanks! :)

Hi,
Rig Set up:
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
System is water cooled and shows as around 27c in bios idle.
OC settings are as per the pics below for a 4GhZ OC.
I purchased this set up as a pre OC'd bundle from overclockers.co.uk.
I wanted to ask if these settings was the best and should I be concerned about anything set. It is more curiosity since the OC has not been done by myself.
Feed back please?

Whats the RAM specs cos those timings look loose for the frequency (1528)!?
Also, you might get lower vcore for 4ghz (some D0's are as low as 1.15v :O)
Thanks for replying...
Specs are...
- 1600MHz DDR3
- CL 8-8-8-24 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- Gold Z3 XTC Heatspreader**
- Lifetime Warranty
- 1.65 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM

Heyz so whats new on the new bios? i havent updated since F7c :)
it is better to set the uncore speed to 4x the memory speed?
Hi All
Finally got my i7 to 4ghz and passed 1hr 15min in prime max temp 72c.
On the mobo there are loads of LED's which i have looked in the manual and all are explained except one near the CPU on top of the bored manual says it cpu temp and green is 60c and red is 80c (or something close) Mine are on Green with an amber(no mention of amber anywhere) one next to it these are on all the time even on idle which is 50 max. idea please?
Guys, it is ok to leave all settings on AUTO, just changed the CPU vCORE, DDR3 Voltage and QPI/VTT?
Thanks for replying...

So are the screenies loose then like mentioned?
Thanks.
Yeah, they do seem a bit loose.
They are set to 9-9-9-28 CR2 at 1528, yet the timings (from OCZ) are 8-8-8-24 CR1 @ 1600.
If you change your BCLK to 200 and alter your clocks via your mutli, this will allow your ram to be run at 1600 (stock) and change the latencies to match the stock, but ensure you put your RAM volts to 1.6v (you may even need 1.65v...but my GSkill run well at stock 1.6v :D)
WHat bios do you guys recommend? im using the F7c for my UD5
Thanks
On f8b and working well so far (I am not using RAID or AHCI though ;))

Should i use the latest bios for my UD5 or stay with the F7c? im using a 920 C0

coretemp 75/75/70/70, any comments?
is that a normal behavior? only happen after shutdown and power on
when I power on my PC, I could hear like 3 resets happen (the blue led behind the ram which show your OC level turn off and on like 3 times) it doesn't shutdown and power on again, it just doing like 3 reset in the row without any shutdown, I entered the bios after, but it doesn't say anything about reverting from bad OC, and every stress test passed fine.
Can someone help me on my OC im using bios F7c and i got it up to 3800 i have a C0 920, i would appreciate some help thank you.
I'm not sure what you mean by this exactly.
But this is what I looked at (??) Easy Tune 6 Clicked Advanced under the Tuner option, then Voltage 1.
Then looked up QPI/Vtt Voltage. Under 'Power On' it shows 1.53500V
Is this the value I was looking for or am I way out?
That's too much, try to manually set it to 1.335v or 1.355v
here is my settings for 3.82GHz

????????
Your UNCORE frequency should be double your RAM speed (3200 whereas your is 3400), this might be a problem !?
any chance of speeding up the boot up time on jmicron raid for the ex58 extreme? i was able to borrow my old msi eclipse and did try to setup the HW raid on both eclipse and extreme and i clocked that the eclipse is around 3-5 secs faster than the extreme :( Also I attached the silent pipe and my IOH cooling is pretty good but i am not happy with the build in sound of the giga board so i am planning to buy xfi platinum pcie. I can put that in the last x16 slot ( configure as x8 ) right ? or is there another driver aside from realtek ( of there are any 3rd party driver that works with vista 64 please ) that can improve the sound quality of this board ( well to save some cost on my part ).
