yes, that exact ;/, i had tried only crystaldiskmark, after 3-4 runs, explorer unresponsive... :/, because drive disconnected.
Your Sharkoon QuickStore Portable USB3.0 HDD also has the JMicron JMS539 chip.
The following USB 3.0 external HDD enclosures will likely have problems with the Entron USB 3.0 host controller, because they all have the JMS539 chip:
Akasa noir S 2.5" USB 3.0
Digitus DA-70577
Fantec QB-35US3
Fantec QB-35US3R
Sharkoon Rapid-Case 3.5" SATA USB3.0
Sharkoon QuickStore Portable USB3.0
Mediasonic HF2-SU3S2
Mediasonic HFR2-SU3S2
Poppstar NE30 (2TB) USB 3.0
Silicon Power Armor A80 USB 3.0
Technaxx USB 3.0 Speedystore Docking Station
Vantec SuperSpeed USB 3.0
Oh... I could see it was a jmicron chip but not which exactly ...without destroying the case.. Do you have any idea what chip the raidsonic cases have ?

Which is the exact type of your Raidsonic case?
For example RAIDSONIC IB-250StU3-B is using the Asmedia chip which works flawlessly with the NEC, but I don't have any reports how it performs with the Etron.
Raidsonic has also used the JM539 for some external HDD bays, so choose with care.
update..
i just got an raidsonic IB-250stu3-b with asmedia chip , same s..t, different case.. . With Legacy USB3 enabled, it could stall in almost every port, by disabling it in bios, i could attach-detach to the 2 lower usb 3 ports, and the upper left one for some time.. after 3-4 attach-detach procedures.. it stalled again... (in upper right port.. couldnt start at all..)(, tried uninstall, reboot, reinstall 0.98 drivers.. with same results..). I don't know if Jmicron chip has issues.. but 2 birds in a row... not working... seems to me etron's :banana::banana::banana:, fault.
As i have for the moment, both cases, feel free to ask me to do whatever combinations :)
edit : it seems works fine, except the upper 2 ports. (the stall problem probaly arised when attached it 1st to upper 2 ports.. stalling and affecting all next tries)
done :)
i just started copying at 1st from icybox 200gb to pc, and when finishes, ill copy back to icybox.
In the meanwhile i further checked each port , (attach, crystaldiskmark 2x times, detach, re-attach, try to open some file from usb3 disk), the lower 2, and the 2 in usb3 panel work fine.. the upper 2 ports (the ones that asrock on its manual advertises as the ones to go for better performance..) dont work correctly, they can stall even with a usb2 flash stick. The other 4(in my case) usb3 ports, seem to work fine, even with mixed devices attached (the transcend usb2 stick and the icybox)
p.s.>the upper 2 usb3 ports seems likely to be directly connected to pch (thats why asrock advertises them for better performance...), all the other must be via PLX chip which alone i think adds some latency to attached devices.. could that be the solution to our problems..? some latency/buffer added to driver, to overcome that stall?
I agree. They should add some latency into the driver.
Also in case of the JMicron, the USB 3.0 transactions could be too fast. I think the communication with JMicron should be slowed down, to be more reliable.
Actually I get slower speeds with the NEC combined with good stability.
The Etron is faster with JM539, but less reliable.
i just checked all 3 manuals (extreme4/6 and fatal1ty), and i suspect that the 2 usb3 ports in extreme4 (just like the upper 2 in extreme6 & fatality) are connected to pch directly, could some extreme4 user try the usb3 ports on 3.5" panel and report? (i suppose "magically" they will have much better compatibility)
I have no issue with USB 3.0 ports on mobo. My Externall HDD works like a charm.
X-drivers have the Etron 0.98 driver , it might include some fixes.
interesting.. native? or case?, usb3? , usb2?
UPDATE: just finished copying 203gb from disk to pc, and from pc to disk (icybox was NOT connected on the upper usb3 ports) without a hitch
Maybe I will buy an icy box.
What is the chipset of your Samsung external HDD? What chip does the conversion from USB 3.0 to SATA?Quote:

Yes.

Just to be clear, which USB3 ports are having problems?
in my case (fatal1ty, and likely and in extreme6) the upper back ports (equivalent to back ports in extreme4 i think, as bat4 has the same symptoms)
Pending a few more confirmations, I'll pass that info on
:) Just waiting for Asrock to fix the P67 Pro3 for LLC disappearing after changing the vcore from auto to manua/offset and I'm set
ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional UEFI 1.80
Hmm, I really want to see this for my Extreme4 so i can use Throttlestop to it's fully potential...Quote:

Sorry guys, no news yet on the USB3 issues. I also forwarded the info that the problematic USB3 ports seem to be the upper USB3 ports at the back of the board and other USB3 ports seem to be ok.
My system just randomly BSOD while I was surfing the net with bug check 0x100000B8 ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC. Upon analyzing the crash dump, the system drivers usbehci.sys and usbport.sys were the root cause. Hopefully etron will have something new for us soon.
Has anyone tried sleeping? When I suspend to sleep and then resume I get an awful lot of system interrupts. Approx 20% cpu usage. Doing a trace throws up a few offenders - but the usb is also one of them. I generally don't sleep anyway as the system boots in 20-30s secs with a SSD. Just something that bugs me a bit.
Also while I am on the whinge. Sound quality. I may have ultra sensitive speakers/receiver but it seems when all sound is off (not mute but no music) I've got some one gently blowing down my speakers. And when I run benches - I get thrums and drones at a very low level. They aren't sensitive to volume but are a constant low level noise - suggesting a ground issue.
I am nitpicking as I am byfarandaway very happy with my EX4 and would recommend it to any and all.
Here you can find a modded version of Asrock's F-Stream Tuning, with enabled Extreme4 and Extreme6 support.
Special Thanks to bat4 :)
Tip: Install it with mouse already attached on "Fatal1ty Mouse Port"
