The EVGA Micro X58 board is still Sata 2.0 - these are supposedly backwards compatible. Thx for the advice on sleeving - I use a heatgun and a lighter, depending on the task. Lighter mostly for sealing the ends of the sleeve. The lighter was shown for scale on The Chopper board.
Thx, Lu(ky. I really like the BOSCH for straight cuts. I'm not too good at sharp turns with it. I think it will take a mix of tools to get my cutting done.

ahh ok, excuse me, i hadn't seen you were using a heat gun. (i am ashamed, lowers head) Yes, lighter is a needbe for the keeping the ends of the sleeving from fraying.

you need the sata 3.0 cables for the 6gb/s tranfers, in lamens turns...they have a different number of turns AND can read/write at the same time (least last time i read up on the beta for them) the different size of the turns makes it so that the data can travel faster...in this case about 2x as fast. they are a thicker cable as can easily be seen by the picture, but imho well worth any extra cable management u might need for that XD (one of those hooked up to a sata3.0 ssd hdd...PFM :)) that and 1080p webcams requires it...
btw that sleeving looks AMAZING and where are ya'll finding these hobby heat guns? i only have lighters...and i hate the dirty look they give, but i'm not willing to go spend 69$(cheapest heatgun i've found at the local walmart and homedepot AND menards...=/living in the middle of nowhere sux when u need parts...)
Picked up a hobby heat gun from hobby lobby for like $15. Works perfectly :up:

Any suggestions? Anybody here every run the EK multi-option res in a horizontal config?
add a fill line off the end just a small one and have the res on an angle for bleeding. once bled out it should be alright I would think. The res just has to be completely full.

Thanks, Jokester. Yeah - I tried that before, but still had some bubbles - so obviously didn't get it full. Tried it again, and just can't quite get all the bubbles out - but it was considerably better.
Thanks, CP - I think it's okay to post a link to a work log at TPU ;) I'll follow up and see if I can get some info. It's hard to find logs with horiz. reservoirs - uh, could be cause it ain't the smartest way to go :p:

Quick try with a short fill/bleed line - works wonders. One should never doubt the laws of physics.
The fill line is great, because you can fill and top off while the loop is running once you fill it almost all the way.
I kinda like the vortex though.... But of course, there must be some horrible physics problem that completely ruins the thermal efficiency of the loop and causes the tubing to vibrate and rotate and unscrew compression fittings and spray liquid everywhere which is why people don't do it, right?
Thanks guys ... and Jokester, appreciated the prod to try the fill tube - I had planned to use one in the final build, but didn't originally have one in the mock-up. It's pretty obvious how it works, once I saw it in action ;)

No tricks here - just trying things out BEFORE putting them into the case ;) Now comes finalizing tubing layout, measuring, and more for the bottom section.

Will have some real updates in a few days, but have been diverted. Lou had rotator cuff surgery this week. The ice pack they gave him is a pain, so been working on a prototype cooling solution - still some work to do, obviously:
