Hello . Thanks for the help but my stability test was already dony with no LLC .
Otherwise , i have removed the asus blue plate covering the NB ( which is a incredible stupidity of asus :mad: ) and the result is a far better cooling . But be careful if you want do the same thing because the plate is glued to the NB so it is difficult to remove !
Since the modification , no freeze at all if i select the right NB voltage of course . I precise that before this modification , even increasing the NB voltage , i always have got some random freeze .
think he may be talking about the strip of metal over the heatsink with the asus logo

That just seems silly to me. I would not be suprised if your freezing problems come back. I agree that it is a stupid place to put a decorative cover, but mine is still on and my room gets up to 85F here in the summer And MY COMPUTER IS MOUNTED INSIDE A DESK!
I would doubt that the removal of that little scrap of metal dropped your temps even 1c on average. I do hope the problem is gone though. I feel your pain as I had problems like that for over a month, that I traced back to my 1600mhz ram. the 1800mhz ram that I have now, requires 1.65v to the NB to run 1N command rate, but I have no issues with crashing or freezing.
Oh, and I have 2 120mm fans pulling fresh air into my desk though. My temps are 2-3c cooler when the computer is sitting outside on the floor.

I am another one having the random freezes, even with the cpu not in load.
Runing a E8400 500x8, ddr3 at 1600 1N. I am currently running the vNB at 1.59v the temps are good (39º load).
LLC is off, and i still have no conclusion for what is causing this .. i will try to raise the vnb a bit more.
My vcore is 1.37v full load. Maybe it's the cpu that is not that good.
I tried memtest and they ran 1h loops, so i think it's no from there, but i will try reducing to 2N to see if it goes away.

What kind of memory do you have? Besides the 1N issue, are you running at the rated timings? Did you manually set the ram voltage to the rated voltage? Seems obvious, but it is easy to forget to check these after starting from scratch.

Yes , of course , i am not absolutely sure what the problem is gone away forever and in fact , perhaps my ram is not completely compatible with this mobo but for the moment , there is no freeze at all.
I will see in the future if i change the ram but i will wait that prices drop ! :eek:

I didn't mean to come adross as rude, with my comments yesterday, but I think your thoughts about the ram are far more likely. I had some OCZ platinum 1600mhz 2x2gb memory with timings rated for 7-6-6-24, and although the first kit I received would rin mostly stable after ALOT of tweaking and cranking up the Vdimm, that stability went away after about a 2 week period. I RMA'd the memory, and could not get that kit to work, no matter what. That med me to RMA the mobo, but when the new one came, I had exactly the same problem. Now onto RMA#2 for the ram. New ram, same problem. I got rid of that memory, and tried the 1800mhz Reapers. After finding the necessary NB and CPU voltages, they just WORK. No stabiltiy problems whatsoever, but they will not run any timings tighter than their rated 8-8-8-27.
On the bright side, they do run at 1N which the 1600mhz memory would not. Getting them to run at 1N just takes a smidge more Vnb, and all is stable. I don't remember if you are on Bios 0505 or not, but I would recommend it, as it seems way more stable than the 0204 and 0402 that I tried before.
Oh, and by the way. This board does not report NB temp. at all, the board temp that you see in ASUS probe or Everest is just some generic tepm sensor somewhere on the board, but it is not the same as the NB temp sensor on a Maximus Extreme for example. Too bad for us!
It is a great shame that there is no NB temp sensor on this board, considering NB voltage plays a large factor in OCing.
Don't know if this helps anyone, but I found out thru ASUS forums that the MOBO sensor on this board is located in the upper left corner by the VRegs.

my current cpu config is 8 x 333 which = 2.66 ... im a little confused about the memory devider on this mobo, Im sure devider 1:1 is strap 333 .. is that correct? sorry for the noobie Q's :P
This is funny!!!! I know you had trouble with your OCZ 1600Mhz memory since I'm also one of those poor little bastards that is trying to get his memory stable for about 2 weeks now day after day. I read your thread on the OCZ forum since you had some similar problem as I have. You can read my thread here which is an awful lot of reading.
I don't know but it seems this board is really picky with 1600Mhz memory and especially with OCZ's. I think I will bring my current kit back to the store and get me some 2Gb 1800Mhz Corsair memory instead. It will cost me twice as much in the hope it will run twice as good.
Even when you look at the QVL from this board there are not many modules to choose from. It's a shame Asus doens't test anymore modules or doesn't update this list more frequently.
Agree that the QVL list stinks (actually pretty much worthless imo), especially at the level we all seem to be running. OCZ Reapers and Cellshock seem to be playing nice with this board. Not too sure about Corsair. Hopefully the investment will be worth it.

MASSIVE problems. Not to bash OCZ though, because these REAPERS are good. Can't tighten the timings, but they will run faster than 1800mhz. They are totally stable at reatd timings, and if I get better cooling (for my CPU) I will try faster speeds, and check for stability.
FYI....... They do run at 1N which makes up for the 8-8-8 timings.

I hope so as well since those modules will become the most expensive components of my comp. At least they these modules are on the Corsair website listed as compatible with P5E3-Premium.
I hope I will get my new RAM this week and that they are at least stable at the rated timings as well. And hope that it's not my mobo which is defect but I guess I would have noticed this when the RAM was running at default speeds of 1333Mhz. Still I don't get it because some people seem to get good clocks as would be expected from these modules like here and here. Maybe the P5E3 undervolts the RAM but I didn't dare to push it over 1.94V due to warranty issues.Quote:

What cooling do you use now? I will try to overclock my memory as well when its stable. However my E8400 seems to originate from a bad batch and is holding me back from a good OC because I need 1.42V in Bios and 1.4V in CPU-z (with LLC enabled) to get it run at 3.96Ghz. Does any of you have some advise maybe for OC'ing this baby? If relevant I could post the rest of my settings?

I have done again memtest 2.01 bench with my OCZ 2*2GB 1600mhz and now i have a lot of errors. :(
2 weeks ago , there was none !
So i must change them .
So, can someone tell me which kit of 2*2GB with speed of 1600 mhz or faster , is fully compatible ( approved by asus ) with this motherboard ?
In fact , if i read the QVL list , there is no 2GB module !!

I had the same problem as you. Modules OK for a week or two. Then problems, freezes and of course Memetest errors when there were originally none.
I have 1800mhz reapers. They work fine in my board with no fiddling. Be prepared to run some high NB voltages to get 4gb to run at 1800mhz though.
