Well, my local Micro Center only got 6 pcs. of 2600Ks on its shelf and stock room today and no plan to refresh inventory next week:)
Could be they make a room for the new cpu?:D

Depends on the batch of 2500K. Early batch's at release weren't that great. 4.6-4.8 the norm on air. Newest batch's are a lot better. 5.0Ghz+ on air
Mine with a Hyper 212+ run 24/7. With a D14 i believe 5.2+ should be quite easy
Attachment 120142
I hope so. 179.99 8150 would be awesome.
it's just a few days before Monday chew*
can we please see what it could max on AIR ;)
Maybe a re-post but still worth it I think. Anand posted 4 parts of his own video material from the OC event. You can see and hear Simon talking about high end air, water cooling and LN2 clock targets, temps, robustness of FX(they don't degrade with 1.5V or not as fast as other chips would do) etc. The rest of team AMD FX is there too :

I will have an FX8150 on LN2 by the end of october, or I will go nuts. I'm too excited for this release.
now the real goal is to come up with $500 by the end of october...
...what's the MAX safe voltage for this proc. on AIR?
1.5v(no degradation) as said by simone from the video, watch the videos its really informative
Yet another TEASE:p:

I watched some "real" benches.. The AMD holds it's own very well against a 980X and when you kick in the price difference between it and a 980X it's a no brainer.
I'll say it this way, IF I was building a gaming machine I would use the FX8150 and not think twice about it, and buy the family's food for the month with the savings!
But the 2500k beats the 980x in most (gaming) benches, and can be gotten relatively cheaply. Not sure how I feel about it holding its own (not beating) the 980x in game benches; plus, games aren't my only concern.
Regardless, that's still exciting to hear, and assures me that I won't have many regrets getting a BD cpu.
freeloader informal where did you get $230 for the highest 8150 model? Isn't the price too low considering It should compete with SB 2600 and not 2500 not to mention two weeks ago it was ~$269 and one month ago $300. I get the fact they want to have better price/performance ratio but this price is too low.
its very good, maybe up to 1.55V as with older Denebs :). We will see, how much next step in voltage help in overclock (for 10-20 MHz up is not sense incrase voltage from 1.5 to 1.55 of course...). Im looking not only for chips (maybe Im crazy), but also at new wallpapers with Scorpion logos :)
Apparently Intel will release a 2700K at the same time BD is released, thus the downward pricing. Take it for what it is...:) Also, if supply is low don't expect to see those prices. :(
http://www.extremetech.com/computing...n-sandy-bridge
freeloader Then what about 4core SB-E its evident more cache doesn't help much not to mention those prices are just too low.
SB2700 would get just a 200Mhz boost thats not much and Instead of AMD cutting prices Intel should cut the price of SB2600 if It has plans for a new model.
freeloader I am not accusing you of anything and thanks for the link, but I think his prices are BS but we will know for sure once the NDA lifts.
But will it work on am3 mobo,or only am3+?
The info I have offered is all I can legally disclose at this time so don't take it as me being rude and not answering questions.
Great news guys, the noname blogger says his pal Peter sent him some tests comparing IPC between BD and Thuban at 4.2Ghz no turbo (1 thread)
SuperPI +22% for Thuban
Cinebench 10 +13% for Thuban
Cinebench 11.5 +23% for Thuban
wPrime 32M +42% for Thuban
Fritzchess (both 6 threads) +24% for Thuban
Seriously Its too unbelievable to be believable:ROTF:
Still these are from an ES chip. chew* and JF said that we shouldn't believe them.

Q. I saw a benchmark on xyz website. Is that how bulldozer will perform?A. No. Nothing posted before launch will be representative of actual performance. To get actual performance, you need:
Final production silicon
Final processor microcode
Final system BIOS
Final OS optimizaitons
Final drivers
An app compiled with the latest flags
A person who understands the app and configures the test properly
Without these things (and there are probably more), you cannot get an accurate benchmark. Any extrapolation of a crappy benchmark gives you a crappy estimate of actual performance. Period.
Oh, and many of the benchmarks that you see were probably not run, those are just charts made in excel. It's really easy to make a chart in excel - what do you want, bulldozer faster by 3716%? Intel faster by 293%? Sure, I can do either one in 10 seconds. Why are you arguing about benchmarks that probably aren't real?
Canis-X Actually I am waiting for chew* to classify It as the biggest BS ever.
Dresdenboy No, he tested It on GigaByte GA-990FXA-UD7 and the bios was F5 and that is with
AGESA 0.0.9.2 from the info on gigabyte homepage.
Ok, I keep seeing AGESA lately, what is it and what does it do? How does it impact a CPU?
Canis-X If I am not mistaken, with AGESA code they blocked TLB bug in Barcelona which resulted in weaker performance.
As simple as this.....If your FX8150 too slow then sell it or return it for refund or you can wait untill it available for purchase.
Any overclocking results up to this second are not from "retail ready cpu" and should be view as an "engeneering sample" results
BLT has 9-22-11 as the in stock date for the 8150
http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop/...er_id=!ORDERID!
cesariuth SuperPi was correct 20.5s but Cinebench is 6.95:D
Canis-X glad to help with the little knowledge I have:)
22-9.Hmm that would be too good to be true. However given that many info leaked out recently and AMD overclocking videos i would say that 2 week max we will have BD for sale :) Or just hope so :D
Alex-Ro That would be great.
Wonder about the 4100. Wife doesn't need an 8150
Pestilence What about trinity 2module or is it too late?
To add some thinks in AIda L2 read is about 2/3 of its write speed and L3 read is about 50% faster than L2 read, the funny thing is even read from memory is a bit faster.
I no understand this:
Attachment 120169
Same result with different frecuency?
Btw someone sent me a PM here pointing out that "noname faker guy" says I post comments that he deletes on his blog?! :p: I don't even visit his blog so how can I post comments? That guy is a real piece of work hehe.
I see some of you posted results of 4.2Ghz FX. Is this from him?
Your best friend wrote: "For my best (15x daily) reader - informal (hjh)
Hi kiddo, you are posting many comments every days with questions, but i am deleting comments automatically ... drop me one with your email address i will answer all your questions kid. I am waiting"
I was tempted to ask you about that but ruled it out as another Liars nonsense.
P.S.: yep, that`s from his blog.
It's from someone who bought a CPU from him. (8150 B2 ES)
Running on a Gigabyte 990FX UD7 with latests official stable BIOS (old AGESA).
informal Yeah, who else would make up -20% IPC:rofl:
Andi64 I bet it was his test and no one sent him anything, just made it up like informal posting comments on his blog.
That guy is totally crazy it seems. On top of that he is also an attention **** ... Who really cares what he thinks? I stopped paying attention to him after he got banned on XS. He was completely discredited after that debacle about his inside info on radeon 4800 series (and 480SP he was claiming are final spec). Dude is a joke.
PestilenceI would rather play with a new shiny Trinity 2 module notebook:DQuote:
Want to play with a 4100
he had B0, thats for sure because he posted video on youtube and the booting screen showed an B0 ES sample.Quote:
Someone just stated he had a B2 and retail chips are B2 according to gigabyte. It'll be hilarious if he's ballpark
Dresdenboy Why? :ROTF:
Seth-01 Not quite, this BD was run at 4.2Ghz with turbo OFF.
I wouldn't trust those results for the simple fact that we have others with legit access to these cpus saying the opposite. Plus nothing we know about the architecture would suggest such a huge drop in IPC - it would come down to a failure in implementation, which could indicate the quality of particular chip he has.
However, with that said, don't rest your (Not you specifically TESKATLIPOKA, but everyone) sense of self and identity on those numbers not being true, you risk becoming the next reverse-fanboy if they are. Those of us with a long memory will remember that OBR is exactly that sort of individual. When he came here he was a pro-amd troll. He said that Conroe was "very big hype only" and then after release it wouldn't be faster for long (how did those predictions turn out, Mr "inside info" ). Then, disappointed with barcelona and R600 he turned into an anti-amd troll and said things like if the leaked R600 benches were true (they were, roughly) that we should say "Good Bye to AMD/ATi" (how did that one turn out? lol).
Everyone, if you don't want to become the next OBR please moderate your expectations. If not for yourself at least do it for the rest of us. Companies aren't perfect and even your favorite one will let you down someday.
Solus Corvus Nicely said but my expectations aren't that high, in my opinion IPC can't be lower than K10 and why is that, because of module and integer size compared to Llano, considerably bigger yet lower IPC doesn't coexist in my book.
Apokalipse I heard it was enabled in AGESA 0.0.9.* and that should be in F5 bios for Gigabyte or wasn't yet enabled .
Hey guys, I wonder why nobody cared to reflect on my questions from yesterday (#2696)... Does it just vent unnoticed next to the newer OC results, or is it an indication I should drop them altogether? :)
it did not seem to be a question but more like a reflection :)
All i want is a review from Anandtech and i'll be happy.
i hate finding posts like this:mad:

I got some time alone with a Bulldozer system with a retail sample FX-8150 and what we've seen so far seems correct
and AMD aren't even sure internally(!) when Bulldozer will launch. I am well aware it still could be an old BIOS/AGESA code
so don't lecture me on that.
I'll be a tease as I'll write an article about it tomorrow specifically what I know about the when they think(!) launch will take place approximatelly
22% slower than thuban at super pi , so slower than bobcat?
Curry > Cheeseburger
Who cares about stupid super pi. It has zero bearing on anything.
*edit* hmm a little ironic post I guess given my current avatar.
what's "super pi" again?
