grats bluestang
I'll be bidding a fond farewell to the EP45 club as of today. I've now switched to my X58A-UD3R and 920 D0 which is already stable at 4.3GHz after a very short session of tweaking. I've enjoyed taking part in this thread and am grateful for all the help in this nice little sub-community on XS. I'll no doubt pop in at some points as I'll have a EP45-UD3P / USB3P and vmodded Extreme up for sale and it'd be good to see how others fare on them :)
Hey guys :D,
I've placed 3'rd on the GOOC2010 final in Roumania ... I thougth to share with you my results (here in this thread were it all started) and wanted to say thanks for your support ... you have been great with me ... so thanks once again
My SuperPI score:

I know this aint x58 tread but is the place where I wroted all about my participation in gooc (also I qualified on an EP45-Extreme mobo) and it seemed fair to me to post the results here too :).
The limiting factor was the mobo (UD3R rev 1.0), because the power delivery can't climb I7 980 CPU to verry high frequencies (one of the cpu's we used did 6300 on UD9). I must say I'm verry pleased with what I managed and hope u like it.
Cheers,

I decided to load BenchZoners XS load (thanks BZ ) on my REX yesterday and play with the X3360 on that too,
so i got the Gig UD3P's with some new team 1300's and now the REX with a bucnh of nice ddr3 so this should be interesting.
here is a shot of the load in action :surf:

you will enjoy the X58A-UD3R as much as the UD3P,but if your like me you will be back:Dall i need is a decent 775 quad and i would be posting results in this thread again.have fun with your new toys
i knew you would do good.congratulation on placing third.
very nice results my friend:D
looks like a fun time.i really need to get a table or a big desk to be able set my stuff up like that.:)
Finally broke my 4.6ghz curse :D
sweet runs, i look forward to more!@
Just a suggestion but you might want to start running 3.20B instead of 3.33D. Theres a known issue with 3:5(3.33D) not running at its rated speed, its really a 3.00 so your ram is actually only running at 1626 for that run. And incase im not being clear heres some benchs to illustrate my point.
3.33D "1500" cas 5

Hi there,
coming from an E6600 and a P5W DH Deluxe motherboard I just bought a used Q9450 and an EP45-UD3P. But to be honest: I'm totally overextended with all these OC settings, especially when it comes to voltages! I just don't know where to start...
So I would ask you to help me out with this. What are all these voltages for? To where can I push them? As I guess you need more info on my setup:
Intel Q9450 2.66GHz (8x333) VID 1.25V cooled by a Noctua NH-U12P
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Rev 1.0 BIOS F10
2x 2048MB G.Skill PC-8000 DDR2-1000 (xxx-4GBPQ)
GeForce GTX 260
Enermax 525W
Win 7 x64
Thanks in advance! =)
Consolidated threads
h3x0r_1984 compiled a lot of threads about the UD3P in that link above, which should help you find the answer you seek. It's a good starting off place until someone a bit more knowledgeable chimes in. Good luck!
Thx kitty,
I will give these threads a read. Is it still up to date that Bios F4 gives the best results?
@Popopinsel
As far as I know from reading (having read ALL the posts...what a chore that was in the name of Research!), F4 through F9 are pretty good for the 1.0 version. Had to do some slight digging at gigabyte's site, since their current UD3p is v1.6 (they have links for 1.0 and 1.1 on 1.6's page). From what I recall, some of the others using v1.0 had issues with F10, since usually 'memory compatibility' means 'relaxed values' which may very well make for more issues, especially if you're striving for tighter timings. Check sigs and templates for the past few pages and see if you can discern what most of the UD3P users are using. Odds are high there's a very good reason for their choice.
Be sure to check out tweaktown's forums, as they have a dedicated gigabyte section and a wealth of information, with several of their key members having contributed heavily to this thread.
got it, thanks for the effort!
it also explains something i was trying. appriciate the reminder/heads up
I think I have maxed out my rig with my last run on current cooling, idling at 12c but voltages are way to high for my liking. Perhaps I still have learning to do with 775 overclocking. This is my first intel rig lol.
I wonder if running a slimmed down version of XP would help over a full fledged W7 x64 install?
Will probably experiment with different bios versions aswell, I currently have F7, I would have thought that to be the best to date but you never know I guess.
I will look back through the thread at some templates for the UD3P and see where I can improve.
I'm having too much fun to stop now :D
Congrats on the good clocks to all :up::up: love this thread
I will be joining when i got the hypers and have time to put an HDD with XP32
Cheers to all :toast:
