It's funny... I don't have a single piece of overclocking gear in my collection anymore. :eek: The highest I could test them to is 233MHz FSB on my dual Xeon setup. ;) But I will make sure they are not DOA for you before they are shipped.Quote:

The thing that makes this ram unique is that even though it will run 260 at 2-2-2-x, it won't do so without high voltage. Without high voltage it is just value-ram grade stuff. This means that the module makers will not be able to use it only in their high-end products because that market is limited. With Winbond having what appears to be a large capacity, or at least in excess of what Infineon is purchasing, and because it is cheap, it will make its way to much of the lower end stuff.Quote:

And where are all of the OCZ guys? Probably hiding and ashamed of all of the misinformation that they were forced to put out (such as that these were not Winbond chips - Ok, they are M.tec made from Winbond blanks or that Winbond machines had been lost and no one knew how to make them, etc.). I don't blame those guys, they have jobs and as I've heard them say, non-disclosure agreements that keep them from talking openly about everything. I think it has hurt their image a little bit, though.
No I dont think this little incident has hurt their image. Afterall, it is true that its modules that no one else had, until now. And yes they were just doing their job. What really hurt their image is their disapproval of Hipro's maximizer and some shoddy quality PSUs such as their new 600 Powerstream with many DOA's. What keeps them a float is their customer service.
There will still be those who are loyal to OCZ and feel guilty about purchasing cheapo RAM with the same performance as OCZ's high-end stuff that. There will be those that feel ashamed to have any "value" component in their high-end gaming box. (It takes away from the "l33tness" factor, you know.) There will be those who think OCZ's product is superior (maybe because they said they speed bin, or maybe because a more expensive product MUST be better).

If it wasn't for OCZ, we wouldn't even be thinking of looking at these chips. I think all the hub bub started when ocz came out with VX. I think we owe them a huge thank you for finding it in the first place.
