I wonder if the improvements to 580 are made to give improvements in applications like Vantage (and guessing DX11 3DMark) run faster. But may not translate in other games? What I've read is that 580 may have full FP16 support, etc. I also wonder if DX11 3DMark will be released the same day (or round about) as the 580? Time will tell.

700$ for gtx580... how you will call that lol?
Shop is an expensive one and the €/$ comparison is not really fair
Sounds more 499$ IMO ...
COD seems very demanding, for sure ... :DQuote:
With ultra-fast performance and innovative thermal design, the GPU NVIDIA ® GeForce ® GTX 580 boosts the latest games like Call of Duty ®: Black Ops while ensuring low noise level
I hope it is not sightly faster than AMD's best single GPU while consuming almost as much as their dual cards. Lol.

I would like to see NVIDIA increase the VRAM to at least 3GB because 1.5GB just isn't really enough. At least they aren't using 1GB on a 256 bit. And also, the leaked price, if thats true... what a waste of money if it isn't going to be much faster than the GTX 480 and its performance isn't that great. Most likely the release of ATI's 69xx would drive the price down.
OK, take it with a grain of salt for sure, but some distro guys in my country are leaking info regarding GTX 580 launch price. They informed peeps in our local IT forum that GTX 580 will have around US$ 5xx price tag on it. Since we're mostly hit by around 30-50 US$ higher price in graphic card products, i extrapolate that the USA MSRP price would be around US$ 499-549. US$ 5xx is kinda a wide range for accurate prediction, but i think my estimation is quite reasonable.
EDIT:
As added information, the first batch of these babies seems quite available, atleast these nVidia AIBs distros have them on the way/already. But no confirmation whether it will be constantly available & continuously resupplied or not.
One more thing, it will be a BEAST in 3DMark Vantage Xtreme. :yepp:
Not in stock. :p:
Sorry mate, can't really answer your question. i just got an impression from a fellow OCer in my local forum, he had received info from a reliable source (most likely someone in one of AIB distro) saying the card will be a great performer in 3DM Vantage bench.
Price will be determined mostly by market force, even if the card was overpriced, we still have to consider the supply side. A limited supply product will bear the low demand just fine, nVidia will happily accept the donation from its diehard fanbois around the globe. ;)
Hmm, quite close with my estimation. :yepp:
I also guessed the same thing yesterday. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if DX11 3D Mark is released around the same time as well. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it would translate to the same level of performance in games though.
From that chart, it definitely looked like it didn't translate into games. Vantage difference was 40% while the avg. difference in games was closer to 15 to 20 percent.
