I know I need to pull the cooler to find out, I was asking on what writing I need to see on the chips to tell me if it is 1.1ns or 1.2ns.
Nevermind, after googling for awhile I found it. RAM chips need to say BJ11 on them to be 1.1ns.

Anyway I pulled my cooler and my chips say BJ11 so that is cool. Now I just need to get a X1900XTX BIOS and flash
crap! :(
I have the 1.1ns memory so I just flashed to the XTX BIOS. Seemed to go fine, everything looks fine, but when I load up 3D the screen starts to artifact horribly :( I don't know why though.... darnit!
Guess I'm going back to my XT bios... :(

Some x1900GT Rev1 reference...
Just got my ATi X1900 XT from Ebay seller and noticed that there are two resistors (C3017 & C3018) missing on the back side of the card (you can see 'em on the attached picture). May be someone knows what they do:) The card seems to work fine, but it overclocks only to 685 Core, 790 Mem on 1.45/2.1/2.1 voltages.
What happens when you increase the voltages more?
That overclock does not seem bad at all with those volts.
Voltage increase does not give me any more overclock, only system becomes less stable with more voltage. May be that is because of these resistors. Does anybody know what they do?

I had the same problem. Try ATItool 0.25 BETA 14, it worked for me.
Davidge, the missing items are two CAPACITORs, bypass caps that act as little highspeed powersupply's. They'd be the same value as the others of the same size in that long line going up the back of the card.
Both broken would be affecting one of the voltage regulators (the stuff under the long red heatsink.
You should send the manufacturer a copy of that picture, nd request them to tell you the VALUE (in XX uf) of those caps, you can purchase replacements from Digikey Electronics and replace them yourself with a quality SMD soldering iron... Weller 1301 type. Would take you about 1 minute.
Otherwise see if the manufacturer would RMA/repair it for you.
Im getting the HR-03 cooler for my XTX and was wondering if it is safe to attach a 120mmfan to the power plug on the card?
specifically an S-flex SSF12F (1600 rpm fan)
anyone have any idea if it would be ok?
ive been told not to power a 120mm fan from the card but i thought if anyone has done it it would be here so.....

Maybe you could send W1zzard @ techpowerup.com an e-mail with the XTX 1.2 bios so he can place it in the online ATi bios database. His e-mail can be found on the botom of the page.
I think there are more people around who would like their X1900XT 1.2 to run as a XTX.

I would not be to fast to say infineon memory sucks. I bought a X1900XT from Sapphire with infineon memory and it seems to perform better than those with Samsung memory. All benches below with E6600@3,9GHz on an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe. X1900XT clocked at 729/845Mhz.

Dang. dissapointing first test with my new x1950xtx
4850 in 06 @ stock gfx. My x1900xt did 6400 @ 715\810... so something is wrong!
Ah, found it already! seemes like its stuck @ 2d speeds! could that be beacuse i opened ati tool and closed it again? I didnt dissable any services so they are still running!
Oh, thats more like it! 6250 with card @ stock... now lets OC!
Can someone please quide me a bit in ATItool? ive downloaded 0.25b pre8, do i still need to disable all the services and how do i make the card run 500\600 2d and xxx\xxx 3d?

Why can i only bump memory in 9mhz(18) steps? Its like that with core too!
And for 2d\3d use, do u make a profile for gaming and one for 2d and just switch with hotkeyes or what?

Use 0.25b16, and create 2 profiles- 2D and 3D like you said. You can set "3d detection" in settings to start up 3d when 3d app is detected and go back to 2D when it's closed. Works really great with:
400/400 1.00/1.8/1.8/1.435
700/800 1.40/2.02/1.9/1.456
I recommend beta 16 over beta 14, the new clock setting method in the change log seems better. The screen doesn't go black anymore for a split second, and before every once in a while my computer would freeze when coming out of a game, even though everything is stable. Hasn't happened with beta16
