Ok that makes more sense. So basically the higher the bars the more out of whack that color is. Looks like the BenQ FP241WZ that a lot of people are waiting for has an excessive blue overcast? Can't that be controlled? I read thats a bi-product of the "Z" feature and without it it's normal.
If this data is correct, it appears that Dell's tried and true 2407 is one of the most color-accurate panels on the market, surprising...

I didn't use it for color though, that is set to 6500k. But it really helped in getting the lights and darks set up right.

Anyone know of good software for monitor calibration? Non hardware versions. I understand there is also calibrating by eye but that doesn't help you with luminance or other settings like that.
I looked around and software was much more expensive than the $70 deal that shifty is talking about.
What were the names you found?
Shifty was talking about a software/hardware combination. The spyder2 (express or pro) come with an actual colorimeter that you place on the monitor to define the light in the room and such from your monitor.
My TN panel's viewing angle issues are starting to bother me now that the "wow" factor of done with. I am seriously considering going to a 20.1" S-IPS panel now...

Yeah its the #1 thing that bugs me about mine, but you get what you pay for.
And we aren't talking viewing angles from the side, but straight on. The top part of the screen is darker than the bottom unless you tilt it. You will see the same thing on most laptops.
Yeah that is the nature of the beast with TN panels. Looking from above the screen is fine, its when you get to perpendicular and below that the contrast starts to go.
From ergonomic and healht point of view monitor should stand lower than your eyes.Quote:

4. Sounds like its just marketing. They mean to say that on a widescreen such as this, you can fit 2 windows side by side.
A lot of games can be forced to run in widescreen resolutions if they aren't normally supported that way. I run NFS: Carbon and Doom 3 at 1680x1050. I also play Titan Quest, which the developer was nice enough to include this in the video options. It almost seems that it detects your available resolutions from your display properties, because the resolutions available to me on my 22" and the ones available on the laptop are different. Up to 1680x1050 on mine, 1280x800 on the laptop which is correct. More developers should take notice...
