Can some browse my voltages and check nothing is out of wack.

I can run Prime 95 blend for 9 hrs.. annoying I know. I was using 0.03vcore offset, mimimum LCC (5), 250/250/250 - all else on auto. Bios 1.6 (this is a b3 board).

After prime blend 'failure' upped vcore offset to 0.035 and ran IBT (AVX) maximum free RAM for 20 passes:-

Vcore at load peaks at 1.328 then settles at 1.304.

I know I'll probably end up using vcore fixed. But as this is my main pc and a 24/7 clock it would be really nice to get her stable without an aggressive LLC and fixed high'ish vcore through the chip.

I've notice some are setting fixed values for CPU PPL & VTT - but I have them on auto. I am running Gskill ripjaws at stock 2x2GB 1600Mhz CL9 @1.5v.

Rise VTT to 1,051V and Lower CPU PLL to 1,709V.
Also chceck if enabling CPU Internal PLL Overvoltage helps.

Might need a touch more v/core also depending on the chip, maybe bump it to 1.35v under load if you game on the machine and find it crashes every once in a whille, mine seems to need more core voltage to game then stress test.

What was the BSOD? I used to get constant 0X101 BSODs until I dialed in settings manually, one of the auto settings was throwing everything out of whack.

The Zalman ZM-NB32K might work too, and they're heaps cheaper.

The PLX chip doesn't need a HS at all, as you can see here

Use LLC level 2 or 3. The other LLC settings are very weak, dunno why Asrock even bothered with them.

Wrong. LLC 4 and 5 are proven to be the best ones. I have reports from people in Poland that two Extreme4 was burned together with 2500K with vcore set at only 1,35V and LLC 1.

I only use LLC1 or LLC2 like Ket.
The others brings nothing except 0X01 BSOD in my experience :shrug:

I may use LLC but only if I run into real world BSODs - haven't had issues yet.

9Hrs prime blend and IBT (AVX) 20 runs max mem aren't bad.

I'll probably run Prime again over night and see if I can reach 12hours - synthetic yes but still a milestone.

I think I have a decent chip as it barely need anything to do 4.5/4.6. (temps are low and only ramp up at 4.9/5.0Mhz - which I have no intention of doing 24/7).

Come on seriously, you don't even need a DMM for accurate results on this you can just look in the UEFI or run CPU-Z while stress testing the CPU to know LLC 5 and 4 cause a lot of drop, while LLC 3 and 2 more or less put the vcore at what you set, while LLC level 1 is just too aggressive and can cause weird BSODs. I've also only run LLC 2 or 3 for a good 3 months or so now with absolutely no problems. The "burned" Extreme4 boards you speak of I would suggest happened through way too much voltage being used on something and inadequate cooling, and through no fault of LLC.

I am using LLC5 @ 5GHz for three months with offset +0,040V. The value from Hardware monitor in UEFI is 1,328V and during the highest stress this is the lowest value. It sometimes is a little bit higher up to 1,336V.

I don't work with offset mode but those values are on the low side IMO. Using fixed mode and LLC level 3 I can set 1.38v and get 1.37v idle, and 1.344v IBT stress. When settings LLC level 2 and setting 1.36v (never needed higher with LLC 2) I get 1.36v idle and 1.352v IBT load. Very accurate settings in contrast. Deffinately dont use LLC 1, it overvolts the CPU both at idle and load, and these SB chips don't like that at all it makes them freak out.

Update on EtronXHCI.SYS BSODs

I've been in contact with my contact at Asrock and what I have said will be passed on, but in the meantime he would like to know if any of the following devices work properly when plugged into the USB3 port when "Legacy USB 3.0 support" is disabled in the UEFI.

Not working at all

Huawei E1750 USB modem
Technotrend S2-3600 satellite TV tuner
Technotrend S2-3650 satellite TV tuner
Technotrend S2-2400 satellite TV tuner
Nokia E52 phone (USB connection)

Working with issues

Silicon Power Armor A80 USB 3.0 HDD (with JMicron JM539 chip)
Kingston DT 100 G2 USB 2.0 32 GB stick
Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, everything installs fine but when the cam is enabled in MSN for webchat or similar software BSOD: EtronXHCI.SYS

As far as I remember, it doesn't matter if Legacy USB 3.0 is on or off. I will check this evening as I go home.

I have an Extreme4 with I7 2600K, CM Hyper 212+, 4 system fans. Idle temperatures are always around 32C. Motherboard temperature is also 32C. Ambient temp is around 20C.
I see in the above screen capture, that others are having 23C for CPU. How can you obtain such low temperatures?:eek:

Which case do you have? Bad/weak airflow etc. can affect your temps aswell a low quality thermal paste or a badly mounted heatsink...

Thanks bat, once you can get that info to me I'll pass it along to my contact so things can be looked at in more detail :up:

As for CPU temps, some people may have C-states enabled (CPU doesn't run full speed when not heavily loaded) which will result in very low temps indeed, or some users may be using water cooling ;)

Mine CPU runs ca. 32C at IDLE (all C state, EIST, power saving mode at ON). Ambient temp 21C. This is normal temp.
23C on CPU is not possible with AC and ambient temp of ~20C. No way.

Many thanks for your support. Please delete from the list the Kingston DT 100 G2 USB 2.0 32 GB stick, because it seems that the latest driver has solved the problems (with the old driver, sometimes it has been seen as unformatted, but with the new driver 1.00.0000.0098 it works correctly).

For the other devices the problems persists, regardless of the Legacy USB 3.0 being disabled or enabled.

The funny thing is when I'm using the USB HDD 3.0 the Etron chip is getting overheated. I can't copy large files while the external HDD is using the USB 3.0 port, because it is disconnected.

Other users have reported that the Verbatim Store'n'Go USB 3.0 HDD doesn't work with the Asrock P67 Extreme4 motherboard's USB 3.0 port.

CM 690 dominator 2/ 10 fans / Noctua Nh- d14/ Mx-4/ English weather/ low temp chip. Been pleasantly surprised with the i5-2500k very cool chip.

But 16 degrees on one of cores??? Come on... what was the ambient (roughly)? Mine rather quiet rig idles (8% load) with cores on 30-32 degrees (+9 to ambient)

Maybe you have Temp Idle Calibration not zeroed?

I don't have any of these mentioned devices, but surely my Patriot Xporter 8GB USB 2.0 doesn't work with the USB controller :mad: SOme other low end USB sticks work with this controller like a charm.

Just so happens I've knocked system down to stock clocks to monitor temps and vcores atm. And yes realtemp 3.67 is showing a minimum of 20\16\23\23 deg c - odd.

My pc sits in a converted 'garage to bedroom' and I can feel a draft. So I can well believe some low ambients. I'd say the actual room temp is 20 deg c.

Running prime95 blend now and gettng vcore of 1.080v under 3.4Mhz turbo. Load temps are max 33/32/39/37. Only been running 10 mins or so.

Will do a sensor test.
